A passive sampler for synchronously measuring inorganic and organic pollutants in sediment porewater:Configuration and field application

In situ measurement of multiple pollutants coexisting in sediment porewater is an essential step in comprehensively assessing the bioavailability and risk of pollutants,but to date,this needs to be better *** this study,a passive sampler,consisting of an“I-shaped”supporting frame and inorganic/organic sampling units,incorporating equilibrium dialysis theory and kinetic/equilibrium sorption principle,was developed for the synchronous measurement of inorganic(e.g.,phosphorus and metal(loid)s)and organic pollutants(e.g.,parent and substituted PAHs).The equilibrium time and sampling rates were explored in laboratory tests to support in situ *** of pollutants in porewater within a vertical resolution of centimeters,i.e.,1 cm and 2 cm for inorganic and organic pollutants,respectively,were obtained by field deployment of the sampler for further estimation of diffusive fluxes across the sediment-water *** results suggested that the role of sediments for a specific pollutant may change(e.g.,from“sink”to“source”)during the sampling *** study demonstrated the feasibility of synchronous measurement of inorganic and organic pollutants in sediment porewater by the passive *** addition,it provided new insight for further investigation into the combined pollution effects of various pollutants in sediments.

Intensive construction methods offer benefits for metro station development,yet they present challenges for seismic design due to the spatially asymmetric configuration of passageway-shaft *** this study,a detailed numerical model of a station-passageway-shaft structure system built using intensive construction methods was developed and the deformation and damage modes under seismic loadings were *** results indicate that inconsistent deformation between the shaft and the station generates interaction through the connecting passageway,leading to damage near the opening of the station structure and both ends of the connecting passageway Damage is more severe under longitudinal *** with the opening plan that spans four segments,the opening plan that spans five segments exacerbates the overall degree of damage to the structure *** transverse excitation,the presence of interior structures intensifies the damage to the station and connecting passageway,while with such internal structure in place the impact is relatively minor under longitudinal *** with steel segments near the station opening can appreciably attenuate the *** contrast,introducing flexible joints at both ends of the connecting passageway intensifies the ***,reinforcement using steel segments emerges as an optimal seismic mitigation strategy.

Detection and analysis of serum bile acid profile in patients with colonic polyps

BACKGROUND Analyzing the variations in serum bile acid(BA)profile can provide a certain biological basis for early warning and prevention of various *** is currently no comprehensive study on the relationship between the serum BA profile and colonic *** To study the serum BA profile detection results of patients with colonic polyps,and analyze the correlation between BA and colonic *** From January 1,2022,to June 1,2023,204 patients with colonic polyps who were diagnosed and treated at Zhongda Hospital Southeast University were chosen as the study subjects,and 135 non-polyp people who underwent physical examination were chosen as the control *** all patients'clinical information,typical biochemical indicators,and BA *** Compared with the control group,the serum levels of taurocholic acid,glycocholic acid,glycochenodeoxycholic acid,and taurochenodeoxycholic acid in the colonic polyp group were significantly higher than those in the control group,while the content of deoxycholic acid(DCA)was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).When colonic polyps were analyzed as subgroups,it was shown that there was a strong correlation between changes in the BA profile and polyp diameter,location,morphology,pathological kind,*** The serum BA profile showed significant changes in patients with colonic polyps,with a significant increase in primary conjugated BA content and a decrease in secondary free bile acid DCA *** is a certain correlation between primary free BA and pathological parameters of polyps.

Dynamic changes in physicochemical property,biogenic amines content and microbial diversity during the fermentation of Sanchuan ham

Sanchuan ham is appreciated in Yunnan Province,China,for its characteristic flavor and taste,while the microbial community structure and biogenic amines content remain unclear during fermentation *** this study,we explored the physicochemical property,biogenic amines concentration and microbial diversity of external and internal Sanchuan ham by high-throughput sequencing during the processing of Sanchuan *** showed that the nitrite remained at a stable level of 0.15 mg/kg which was significantly lower than the national health standard safety level of 20 mg/*** addition,compared with fresh hams,the content of total free amino acids in ripe Sanchuan ham has grown 14 folds;sour and bitter were the main tastes of Sanchuan ***,the concentration of cadaverine was the highest of all biogenic amines during the entire fermentation *** the bacterial phyla level,Firmicutes and Actinobacteria were the two main phyla,while at the genus level,Staphylococcus was a significant strain throughout the whole ***,the dry stage has a great impact on the succession change of microbial community ***,the change trends and composition of bacteria in the interior have slight discrepancies with those of the exterior of Sanchuan ham.

Situational Analysis of Malaria Incidence Under Integrated Malaria Service in Hotspot Township-Minbya Township,Rakhine State,Myanmar,2017–2020

Introduction:Malaria is a significant public health concern and tropical disease,particularly affecting Myanmar within the Greater Mekong *** annual parasite index(API)exceeds 1 per 10,000 population in the northern seven townships of Rakhine State,with Minbya Township designated as a highburden area for malaria by the World Health Organization(WHO)Myanmar and the National Malaria Control Programme(NMCP).Since 2017,the Malaria reduction intensification plan has been in place in this township to combat the high disease transmission *** study aims to assess the malaria epidemiology in Minbya Township from 2017 to 2020 under the intensification plan for elimination,as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrated strategy in reducing cases in hotspot ***:The study utilized a surveillance study design to collect secondary data from the Malaria surveillance system(MSS)and the epidemiologic monitoring dashboard of Minbya Township,Maruk-U District,located in Rakhine ***:Since 2017,the Malaria prevention and control(P&C)Program in Minbya Township has successfully decreased malaria morbidity,eliminated malaria-related deaths,and bolstered malaria testing capabilities through the participation of village health volunteers(VHVs).Approximately 87%of malaria prevention and control services are executed by the township’s malaria elimination and disease control programs,with additional support from *** API dropped from 13 in 2017 to 2.5 in 2020,with Plasmodium vivax being the most prevalent malaria species,accounting for 55%of ***:The study suggests that early diagnosis and promotion of artemisinin-based combination treatment(ACT),along with strategic planning including expanding active case detection in rural health centers and implementing a communitybasedcommunitybased integrated healthcare approach,are effective and efficient strategies for malaria elimination.

A universal non-Hermitian platform for bound state in the continuum enhanced wireless power transfer

Non-Hermitian systems with parity–time(PT)-symmetry have been extensively studied and rapidly developed in resonance wireless power transfer(WPT).The WPT system that satisfies PT-symmetry always has real eigenvalues,which promote efficient energy ***,meeting the condition of PT-symmetry is one of the most puzzling *** power transfer under different transmission conditions is also a great *** state in the continuum(BIC)supporting extreme quality-factor mode provides an opportunity for efficient ***,we propose theoretically and demonstrate experimentally that BIC widely exists in resonance-coupled systems without PT-symmetry,and it can even realize more stable and efficient power transfer than PT-symmetric ***,BIC for efficient WPT is universal and suitable in standard second-order and even high-order WPT *** results not only extend non-Hermitian physics beyond PT-symmetry,but also bridge the gap between BIC and practical application engineering,such as highperformance WPT,wireless sensing and communications.

Hollow ZIF-67-derived Co@N-doped carbon nanotubes boosting the hydrogenation of phenolic compounds to alcohols

The selective hydrogenation of highly toxic phenolic compounds to generate alcohols with thermal stability,environmental friendliness,and non-toxicity is of great ***,a series of Co-based catalysts,named Co@NCNTs,were designed and constructed by direct pyrolysis of hollow ZIF-67(HZIF-67)under H_(2)/Ar *** evolution of the catalyst surface from the shell layer assembled by ZIF-67-derived particles to the in situ-grown hollow nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(NCNTs)with certain length and density is achieved by adjusting the pyrolysis atmosphere and *** to the synergistic effects of in situ-formed hollow NCNTs,well-dispersed Co nanoparticles,and intact carbon matrix,the as-prepared Co@NCNTs-0.10-450 catalyst exhibits superior catalytic performance in the hydrogenation of phenolic compounds to *** turnover frequency value of Co@NCNTs-0.10-450is 3.52 h^(-1),5.9 times higher than that of Co@NCNTs-0.40-450 and 4.5 times higher than that of Co@NCNTs-0.10-550,exceeding most previously reported non-noble metal *** findings provide new insights into the development of non-precious metal,efficient,and cost-effective metal-organic framework-derived catalysts for the hydrogenation of phenolic compounds to alcohols.

Atomistic study of inverse size effect induced by interfacial plasticity in pearlitic multi-principal element alloy

Owing to the fine nano-laminated structure,the pearlitic multi-principal element alloy(PMPEA) exhibits excellent mechanical and tribological ***,the incomplete understanding of the size effect of its lamella thickness and the unclear understanding of the plasticity-interface interaction mechanism limit further optimization of *** this study,the FeCoNi/Ni_3Ti interface-mediated plastic deformation behavior in PMPEA and the variation of mechanical and tribological properties with lamella thickness within the nanoscale range using molecular dynamics(MD) simulation were *** results indicate that the mechanical and tribological properties of the PMPEA with lamella thicknesses below 10 nm have a significant inverse size effect,i.e.,the smaller the lamella thickness,the weaker the *** is because the plastic carrier-interface interaction mechanism changes from a strengthening mechanism that hinders dislocations to a weakening mechanism that promotes dislocations with the decreases in the lamella thickness,and the weakening effect becomes more pronounced as the lamella thickness decreases and the number of interfaces *** particular,the deformation behavior of Ni_3Ti lamellae changes from crystal-like to amorphous-like with decreasing ***,in the sample with larger lamella thickness,the occurrence of hierarchical slips in the body-centered cubic(BCC) phase due to the multiprincipal elements effect can better alleviate the stress concentration caused by the dislocation accumulation at the interface,so that the phase interface exhibits outstanding load-bearing *** the dislocation pattern in BCC phase shows a firm high-density cell,which makes the substrate exhibit a stable tribological response.

Sources appointment and health risks of PM_(2.5)-bound trace elements in a coastal city of southeastern China

To gain a comprehensive understanding of sources and health risks of trace elements in an area of China with high population densities and low PM_(2.5)concentrations,15 trace elements(Al,K,Ca,Ti,V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Ni,Cu,Zn,As,Sn,Ba,Pb)in PM_(2.5)were monitored from December 2020 to November 2021 in a representative city,*** concentrations of trace elements in Xiamen displayed an obvious seasonal variation and were dominated by K,Fe,Al,Ca and *** on Positive Matrix Factorization analysis,source appointment revealed that the major sources of trace elements in Xiamen were traffic,dust,biomass and firework combustion,industrial manufacture and shipping *** to health risk assessment combined with the source appointment results,it indicated that the average noncarcinogenic risk was below the threshold and cancer risk of four hazardous metals(Cr,Ni,As,Pb)exceeded the threshold(10^(-6)).Traffic-related source had almost half amount of contribution to the health risk induced by PM_(2.5)-bound trace *** the dust transport period or Spring Festival period,the health risks exceeded an acceptable threshold even an order of magnitude higher,suggesting that the serious health risks still existed in low PM_(2.5)environment at certain *** risk assessment reminded that the health risk reduction in PM_(2.5)at southeastern China should prioritize traffic-related hazardous trace elements and highlighted the importance of controlling vehicles emissions in the future.

Harmonic State Space Based Impedance Modeling and Virtual Impedance Based Stability Enhancement Control for LCC-HVDC Systems

Line commutated converter based high-voltage direct-current(LCC-HVDC)transmissions are prone to harmonic oscillation under weak *** modeling is an effective method for assessing interaction ***,this paper proposes an improved calculation method for the DC voltage and AC currents of commutation stations to address the complex linearization of the commutation process and constructs an overall harmonic state-space(HSS)model of an *** on the HSS model,the closed-loop AC impedances on the LCC-HVDC sending and receiving ends are then derived and *** impedance characteristics of the LCC-HVDC are then analyzed to provide a physical explanation for the harmonic oscillation of the *** effects of the grid strength and control parameters on system stability are also *** improve the impedance characteristics and operating stability of the LCC-HVDC system,a virtual impedance based stability enhancement control is proposed,and a parameter design method is considered to ensure satisfactory phase margins at both the sending and receiving ***,simulation results are presented to verify the validity of the impedance model and virtual impedance based stability enhancement control.
