Introduction: The main signs and symptoms of ankyloglossia with deviation of the epiglottis and larynx (ADEL) are sleep disorders caused by respiratory restraint. The author contrived the surgical procedure of correction of the glosso-larynx (CGL) and expansion of the vestibular oris (EVO) for the cure of ADEL. CGL increases vital capacity (VC) and forced expiratory volume in 1 second (1% FEV). EVO reduces nasal airflow resistance. The most important component of nasal airflow resistance is the nasal valve. Purpose: Our purpose was to measure how wide the nares were dilated after EVO. Method: The width of the nares, height of the nose, length of the philtrum and width of the lip were measured in patients who had signs and symptoms of ADEL, before and after EVO. Result: Significant increases were observed in the width of the nares, height of the nose and length of the lip after EVO. Conclusion: This study confirmed that the nares dilate after EVO. Not only the amelioration of nasal respiration by EVO increases immunity, but also aesthetic effects are obtained after EVO.

Riverdikes are habitats that must be revegetated quickly in order to prevent soil erosion. With increasing pressure to improve the cost efficiency of management, new revegetation techniques suitable under reduced mowing frequencies are required. Imperata cylindrica (L.) P. Beauv. is an important component of grasslands in several Asian countries. Its vigorous rhizome elongation should be useful for quickly covering bare ground. We tested the effects of sowing (at two densities), transplanting, and sodding of I. cylindrica on plant cover and species richness of established vegetation over 3 years. The sodding and high-density sowing treatments achieved the most rapid increase in cover, followed by low-density sowing, transplanting, and the control. By year 2, however, the cover in the low- and high-density sowing treatments was similar. The sodding treatment had significantly fewer species than the other treatments in year 1. Between years 1 and 2 and years 2 and 3, the total number of species increased in the transplanting treatment, whereas it decreased in the sodding and two sowing treatments. Accordingly, if stabilization and erosion control are the priority, introduction of I. cylindrica using sod and high-density sowing is the most suitable method. If immediate green-up is not imperative, low-density sowing is likely to provide available resources for new seedlings of diverse species to become established, allowing the introduction of representative species in semi-natural grasslands. More research will be needed on the effects of introducing diverse species (e.g., sowing seed mixtures) that include I. cylindrica on the resulting floristic composition.

Intestinal Behcet＇s disease in a 38-year-old woman was diagnosed because of the history of recurrent oral aphthous ulcers, erythema nodosum-like eruptions, genital ulcer, and endoscopic findings of esophageal and Ueocolonic punched-out ulcers with colonic longitudinal ulcers. Esophageal lesions and colonic longitudinal ulcers are rarely seen in intestinal Behcet＇s disease. The ulcers of esophagus and ileocolon healed with 3 wk of treatment with prednisolone and mesalazine without any adverse effect. Mesalazine may decrease the total dose of prednisolone required to treat the disease.

A case of mucin producing liver metastases with intrabiliary extension

A 75-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a diagnosis of liver metastases from colon cancer. He underwent right hemicolectomy for cecal cancer eight years ago, and had a metastatic liver tumor in segment 8 （S8）, which was surgically resected about 4 years after the initial operation. Histopathological examination of the resected specimens from both operations revealed a well-differentiated adenocarcinoma with mucinous carcinoma. Four months after the second operation, computed tomography demonstrated a low-density lesion at the cut surface of the remnant liver. Although it was considered to be a postoperative collection of inflammatory fluid, it formed a cystic configuration and increased in size to approximately 5 cm in diameter. With a tentative diagnosis of a recurrence of metastatic cancer, partial hepatectomy of S8 was performed. Histological examination of the resected specimens also revealed mucinous adenocarci- noma, which had invaded into the biliary ducts, replacing and extending along its epithelium. Immunohistochemi-cally, the tumor cells were positive for cytokeratin （CK） 20, but negative for CK7. Therefore, the tumor was diagnosed as a metastatic adenocarcinoma from colonic cancer. Liver metastases of colorectal adenocarcinoma sometimes invade the Glisson＇s triad and grow along the biliary ducts.

Time Series Forecasting with Multiple Deep Learners: Selection from a Bayesian Network

Considering the recent developments in deep learning, it has become increasingly important to verify what methods are valid for the prediction of multivariate time-series data. In this study, we propose a novel method of time-series prediction employing multiple deep learners combined with a Bayesian network where training data is divided into clusters using K-means clustering. We decided how many clusters are the best for K-means with the Bayesian information criteria. Depending on each cluster, the multiple deep learners are trained. We used three types of deep learners: deep neural network (DNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM). A naive Bayes classifier is used to determine which deep learner is in charge of predicting a particular time-series. Our proposed method will be applied to a set of financial time-series data, the Nikkei Average Stock price, to assess the accuracy of the predictions made. Compared with the conventional method of employing a single deep learner to acquire all the data, it is demonstrated by our proposed method that F-value and accuracy are improved.

AIM:To compare the imaging results with histology and to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity of imaging modalities for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)smaller than 2 ***:Nodules smaller than 2 cm(n=34)revealed by ultrasonography(US)in 29 patients with liver cirrhosis were *** diagnosis of HCC was performed by ultrasonographic guidance:moderately-differentiated HCC(n=24);well-differentiated HCC(n=10).The patterns disclosed by the four imaging modalities defined the conclusive diagnosis of HCC:(1)contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CECT),hypervascularity in the arterial phase and washout in the equilibrium phase;(2)Sonazoid contrast-enhanced US(CEUS),hypervascularity in the early vascular phase and defect in the Kupffer phase;(3)gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid(Gd-EOBDTPA)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),hypervascularity in the arterial phase and/or defect in the hepatobiliary phase;and(4)CT arterioportal angiography:hypervascularity by CT during arteriography and/ or perfusion defect by CT during arterial ***:Overall,the sensitivity of diagnosing HCC smaller than 2 cm was 52.9%(18/34)(95%CI:35.170.2)by CECT;67.6%(23/34)(95%CI:49.5-82.6)by Sonazoid CEUS;76.5%(26/34)(95%CI:58.8-89.3) by Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI;and 88.2%(30/34)(95%CI: 72.5-96.7)by CT arterioportal *** diagnostic sensitivity of detecting moderately-differentiated HCC by CECT,Sonazoid CEUS,Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI and CT arterioportal angiography was 62.5%(15/24)(95%CI: 40.6-81.2),79.2%(19/24)(95%CI:57.8-92.9),75.0% (18/24)(95%CI:53.3-90.2)and 95.8%(23/24)(95% CI:78.9-99.9),respectively.A significant difference(P< 0.05)was observed between CECT and CT arterioportal angiography in all *** was no difference between Sonazoid CEUS,Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI,and CT arterioportal *** combined sensitivity of Sonazoid CEUS and Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI was 94.1%(32/34).CONCLUSION:Changing the main diagnostic modality for HCC smaller than 2 cm
