A comparison of voltammetric behavior of bisoprolol fumarate (BF) at edge and basal plane pyrolytic graphite electrodes (EPPGE/BPPGE) has been made with single wall carbon nanotube modified glassy carbon. The electrochemical properties are investigated exercising the cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry (SWV). Enhanced peak current associated with bisoprolol fumarate oxidation at EPPGE is due to its better electron transfer property. Quantification of bisoprolol fumarate was carried out at pH 7.2 at both the pyrolytic graphite electrodes. Well-defined peak has been observed at ~ 792 and 954 mV at EPPGE and BPPGE respectively for bisoprolol fumarate oxidation. The detection limit is found to be 2.8 × 10–7 M and 7.3 × 10–7 M for EPPGE and BPPGE respectively. A comparison of common quantification parameters for bisoprolol at carbon nanotube modified glassy carbon electrode and bare BPPGE and EPPGE has been made and it is observed that carbon naotube modified glassy carbon exhibits sensitivity and detection limit close to that observed at bare basal plane pyrolytic graphite electrode. The method developed is applicable for determination of bisoprolol fumarate in pharmaceutical preparations and real samples.

Flash flood or submergence is a common phenomenon in rice growing rainfed lowland areas that seriously affects crop establishment leading to severe yield losses. A few submergence-tolerant rice varieties have been developed by introgressing SUB1 gene into mega rice varieties of South Asia. Two of these, Swarna-Sub1 and Sambha Mahsuri-Sub1, are already released in India for the commercial cultivation. Performance of these varieties can be further enhanced through adoption of appropriate management practices both in nursery and in main field. Two on-station field experiments were conducted using Swarna-Sub1 during the wet season (kharif) of 2011 at Rice Research Station, Chinsurah, Hooghly, West Bengal (India). Results of these experiments revealed that the use of lower seeding density (25 g m-2), application of balanced doses of N-P2O5-K2O @ 80-40-40 kg ha-1 in nursery and transplanting of aged seedlings (44 days) significantly improved plant survival, yield attributing traits and grain yield. An additional N-dose of 20 kg ha-1 at 7 days after receding of flood water resulted in better post-submergence recovery and maximum grain yield. In the on-farm trials conducted at three different locations in West Bengal, nursery raising of seedlings with the application of N-P2O5-K2O @ 80-40-40 kg ha-1, transplanting them at an optimum age (35 days) and application of 20 kg·N ha-1 after 7 days of de-submergence produced maximum grain yield of Swarna-Sub1.

Sodic soils have immense productivity potential, if managed through proper technology interventions. Biocompost is prepared by composting pressmud (a sugar industry byproduct) received from cane juice filtration and spent wash received from distilleries through microbial aerobic decomposition and can be used to reclaim sodic soils. Field experiments were conducted during the wet season of 2011 and 2012 to study the effect of incorporation of biocompost in sodic soil with four treatments: T1—Control, T2—Biocompost at 2 t ha-1, T3—Biocompost at 4 t ha-1 and T4—Biocompost at 6 t ha-1. The two promising salt tolerant rice varieties preferred by farmers, Narendra usar 3 and NDR 359 were used as test crops, which can produce yields ranging between 2-4 t ha-1 in soil having a pH range of 9.2 to 10.5. Among the different doses of biocompost tested, application of biocompost at 6 t ha-1 registered highest yields, enabled by a higher biomass, ear bearing tiller (EBT), and grain fertility in both varieties. Narendra usar 3 was more responsive to treatments even at lower doses of biocompost than NDR 359, but NDR 359 yielded slightly higher than Narendra usar 3 in all treatments. Soil health was also improved evidently on better fertility and low soil pH and EC at harvest. Thus, biocompost can be considered as a commercially viable, environmentally acceptable and practically enforceable option for improving the crop productivity and soil fertility status.

The crumb rubber obtained from discarded vehicle tires and graphene oxide prepared by oxidation of graphite powder in laboratory were used to modify virgin bitumen. Four different hot mix asphalt matrices prepared using virgin bitumen, crumb rubber modified bitumen, graphene oxide modified bitumen and combination of crumb rubber-graphene oxide modified bitumen are compared. The modified bitumen matrices are characterised by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy for structural and morphological analysis. Marshall properties along with indirect tensile test and tensile strength ratio tests were carried out to check the resistance towards cracking and moisture susceptibility of matrices. The results show that, crumb rubber and graphene oxide are completely compatible with bitumen. 9.8% crumb rubber content in crumb rubber modified bitumen hot mix asphalt exhibits the optimum result. The performance of graphene oxide modified bitumen hot mix asphalt exhibits superior performance in comparison to control mix and crumb rubber modified bitumen hot mix asphalt *** enhanced properties of modified bitumen hot mix asphalt with the combining effect of graphene oxide and crumb rubber, are suitable for road construction.

This study applies the development and application of low cost, Punica granatum bio-adsorbent for the removal of fluoride in groundwater. The batch adsorption study was carried out to analyze the defluoridation by contact time variation, adsorbent dose, adsorbate concentration, adsorbent particle size and presence of co-anions at neutral pH. The analysis of the isotherm equilibrium data using the Langmuir and Freundlich equations by linear methods showed that the data fitted better with Freundlich model (R2 > 0.980). Prepared adsorbent showed enhanced removal of fluoride concentration by 78.1% at equilibrium contact time of 75 minutes. Carbonised Punica granatum Carbon (CPGC) seeds showed a high affinity for fluoride ions compared with other conventional adsorbents. Therefore, it can be considered as a potentially “good”, low-cost bio-adsorbent for de-fluoridation of water compared to other bio-adsorbent.

This paper presents an electronically tunable current/trans-impedance-mode biquad universal filter employing only single multi-output current controlled current conveyor trans-conductance amplifier (MO-CCCCTA) and two grounded capacitors. The proposed filter realizes all the standard filter func-tions i.e. low pass (LP), band pass (BP) and high pass (HP), notch and all pass (AP) filters in the current form at high impedance output through appropriate selection of the input signals, without any matching conditions. Simultaneously, it can also realize all the standard filter functions in trans-impedance form from the same circuit topology. The circuit does not require inverting-type input current signal(s) and double input current signal(s) to realize all the responses in the design. The validity of proposed filter is verified through PSPICE simulations.

This paper presents a universal current-controlled current-mode biquad filter employing current controlled current conveyor trans-conductance amplifiers (CCCCTAs). The proposed filter employs only three MO- CCCCTAs and two grounded capacitors. The proposed filter can simultaneously realize low pass (LP), band pass (BP), high pass (HP), band reject (BR) and all pass (AP) responses in current form by choosing appropriate current output branches. In addition, the pole frequency and quality factor of the proposed filter circuit can be tuned independently and electronically over the wide range by adjusting the external bias currents. The circuit possesses low active and passive sensitivity performance. The validity of proposed filter is verified through PSPICE simulations.

In this paper,we have developed and analyzed a deterministic Zika model considering both vector and sexual transmission route with the effect of human awareness and vector control in the absence of disease induce *** formulate the model,we assume that the Zika virus is being first transmitted to human by mosquito bite,and then it is being transmitted to his or her sexual *** system contains at most three equilibrium points among them one is the disease free and other two are endemic equilibrium points,exists under certain *** theoretical analysis shows that the diseases-free equilibrium is locally and globally asymptotically stable if the basic reproduction number is less than *** we have established that endemic equilibrium point which is locally asymptotically stable if the basic reproduction number is greater than *** system exhibits backward bifurcation when the transmission probability per biting of susceptible mosquito with infected humans crosses the critical *** estimate the model parameters and validate the model by fitting the model with the reported Zika infected human data from 1 to 36 week of 2016 Zika outbreak in ***,using the normalised forward sensitivity index method we have established that the model parameter mosquito biting rate,recruitment rate of mosquito,transmission probability per biting of Susceptible(infected)humans with infected(susceptible)mosquito,rate of awareness in host population,recovery rates of infected human are most sensitive parameters of the considered Zika ***,some conclusions are given to control the spreading of the Zika disease.

The present investigation is focused on the influence of the nanocrystalline structure of pure iron metal on the ultrasonic properties in the temperature range 100 - 300 K. The ultrasonic attenuation due to phonon- phonon interaction and thermoelastic relaxation phenomena has been evaluated for longitudinal and shear waves along , and crystallographic directions. The second-and third-order elastic constants, ultrasonic velocities, thermal relaxation, anisotropy and acoustic coupling constants were also com- puted for the evaluation of ultrasonic attenuation in this temperature scale. The direction is most ap- propriate to study longitudinal sound waves, while , direction are best to propagate shear waves due to lowest values of attenuation in these directions. Other physical properties correlated with obtained results have been discussed.
