Structural Characterization of Lignins Isolated from Caragana sinica Using FT-IR and NMR Spectroscopy

In order to efficiently explore and use woody biomass,six lignin fractions were isolated from dewaxed Caragana sinica via successive extraction with organic solvents and alkaline *** lignin structures were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and 1D and 2D Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(NMR).FT-IR spectra revealed that the "core" of the lignin structure did not significantly change during the treatment under the conditions *** results of 1H and 13C NMR demonstrated that the lignin fraction L2,isolated with 70% ethanol containing 1% NaOH,was mainly composed of β-O-4 ether bonds together with G and S units and trace p-hydroxyphenyl *** on the 2D HSQC NMR spectrum,the ethanol organosolv lignin fraction L1,extracted with 70% ethanol,presents a predominance of β-O-4′ aryl ether linkages(61% of total side chains),and a low abundance of condensed carbon-carbon linked structures(such as ββ′,β-1′,and β-5′) and a lower S/G ***,a small percentage(ca.9%) of the linkage side chain was found to be acylated at the γ-carbon.

The longwall method is one of the feasible and efficient underground mining methods for greater depth of ***,Singareni Collieries Company Limited(SCCL),the largest coal-producing government company in the Southern part of India,has deployed a high capacity(2×1152T capacity)power support system in its Adriyala Longwall Project(ALP)at a depth of 375 *** was a concern about the stability of the longwall workings and the protective ***,research work was carried out with the geotechnical instruments and numerical modelling tools to analyze the stability while retreating the longwall *** outcomes revealed that the convergence in the gate roads increased with the longwall face advancement and the area of *** pressure of the powered support legs on the dip side was less than the rise side legs,which implies a stable roof condition over the longwall *** abutment zone was identified ahead of the line of extraction up to 10e25 m and presumed from the Factor of Safety(FoS)criterion that within this zone,the longwall pillar possibly will be of better stability at every stage of *** results obtained from this study would be helpful for the mining engineers to understand the behaviour of underground strata in longwall workings.

An attempt has been made with overlaying of stain-less steel on mild steel by the technique of friction surfacing. This investigation elaborates the excellence acquired by different combination of the process parameters used in friction surfacing specifically traverse speed of the cross slide, speed of rotation of the spindle and the uniaxial compressive load. Excellent overlaying has been obtained amongst the chosen materials. To which, the coating can be done with various set of process parameters. It has been observed that the bond strength of the coating was found to be at a maximum of 502 MPa by ram tensile *** upon this results the surface methodology was characterized with scanning electron *** authenticating the results, the coated specimen was subjected to salt spray test. The bonding microstructure was characterized using optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Corrosion resistance of surfaced coatings was found to be more inferior to that of mechtrode material and greater with the substrate.

In photodegenerative diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa(RP)and age-related macular degeneration(AMD),progressive loss of vision occurs as a result of degeneration of the periphery of the retina and the macula,*** optogenetic stimulation-based approaches to vision restoration offer the advantages of cellular specificity,high resolution,and minimal invasiveness over electrode arrays;however,the clinical translation of optogenetic activation suffers from the lack of a method for the delivery of opsins into spatially targeted regions of a retina that has ***-targeted opsin delivery through viral or non-viral methods to non-photodegenerated retinal areas will perturb these already functioning retinal ***,viral methods are subject to limitations on the delivery of large plasmids,such as fusion constructs of multiple spectrally separated opsins(e.g.,channelrhodopsin-2(ChR2),chimeric opsin variants(C1V1),ReaChR),which can provide higher photo-excitability than can a single narrow-band opsin under ambient light ***,we report the ultrafast near-infrared laser-based spatially targeted transfection of single and multiple opsins and present a comparison with the opsin expression distribution achieved using another non-viral,but non-targeted,transfection method,*** evaluation of cells transfected with multiple opsins using the laser method revealed a significantly higher white-light-induced photocurrent than in cells expressing a single opsin(ChR2).The laser-assisted targeted delivery of multiple opsin-encoding genes to the peripheral retina/macula is ideal for sensitizing retinal areas that have degenerated,thus paving the way toward the restoration of lost vision in RP/AMD patients.

Differences in Tree Species Diversity and Soil Nutrient Status in a Tropical Sacred Forest Ecosystem on Niyamgiri Hill Range,Eastern Ghats,India

We have quantitatively analyzed the tree species diversity with respect to soil nutrient status in three sites of a sacred forest ecosystem of Niyamgiri hill range, Eastern Ghats, India. Extensive field surveys and sampling were conducted in 3 sites of the hill range： Site 1 Pterocarpus dominated forest （PTF）（19°40＇02.2＇＇ N and 83°21＇23.1＇＇ E）, Site 2 Mangifera dominated forest （MAF）（19°40＇02.8＇＇ N and 83°21＇40.8＇＇ E） and Site 3 Mixed forest （MIF）（19°36＇47.1＂ N and 83°21＇02.7＇＇ E）. A total of 28 families, 42 genera, 46 tree species, and 286 individual trees were recorded on an area of0.6 ha. Tree density varied between 470 and 49o individuals ha and average basal area between 3.16 and l0.04 m2 ha-1. Shannon Index （H＇） ranged from 2.34 to 4.53, Simpson＇s Index ranged from 0.07 to o.09, and equitability Index ranged from 0.7 to 1.34. The number of individuals was highest in the girth at breast height （GBH） class of 50-7o cm. The soil nutrient status of the three forest types was related to tree species diversity. The soil pH value of the three sites reflected the slightly acidic nature of the area. Species diversity was positively correlated with organic carbon and phosphorus and negatively with nitrogen, EC and pH. The results of the current study may be helpful to further develop a conservation planfor tree species in tropical sacred forest ecosystems.

This review provides an updated account on the current methods,principles and mechanism of action of therapies for the detection of molecular markers of therapeutic importance in the prognosis of breast cancer progression and recurrence,which includes estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR)and human epidermal growth factor receptor2(HER2).Indeed,hormone-receptors namely,ER,PR,proto-oncogene HER2 are the basic molecular markers that are recognized and established prognostic factors and predictors of response,for therapeutic *** markers can be detected by using immunohistochemistry(IHC)and fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH),which are established,faster and cost effective detection *** molecular markers along with clinicopathological prognostic parameters give the best prediction of the prognosis of cancer recurrence and ***,hormone receptors and HER2 as molecular markers are of prime therapeutic importance and have the capability to take part in future drug development techniques.

A novel cross-linking process using two high molecular weight aromatic poly（thioether）s, which were synthesized by the reactions of 4,4＇-thiobisbenzenethiol with 4,4＇-difluorobenzophenone and 4,4＇-difluorodiphenylsulfone, respectively, and commercially available lower molecular weight poly（p-phenylene sulfide） was investigated. These reactions were carried out in bulk by the addition of silver tetrafluroborate and α,α＇-dibromo-p-xylene at 190℃ over a period of 45 min. Furthermore, the same procedure could be modified to cross-link compression-molded films of these three polymers. The thermal and solubility behaviors of these polymers before and after cross-linking reactions, are presented.

The medium for next-generation communication is considered as fiber for fast,secure communication and switching *** division and space division multiplexing provide an excellent switching capability with high data transmission *** this work,the authors have approached an inverse modeling technique using regression-based machine learning to design a weakly coupled few-mode fiber for facilitating mode division *** technique is adapted to predict the accurate profile parameters for the proposed few-mode fiber to obtain the maximum number of *** is for a three-ring-core few-mode fiber for guiding five,ten,fifteen,and twenty *** types of regression models namely ordinary least-square linear multi-output regression,k-nearest neighbors of multi-output regression,and ID3 algorithm-based decision trees for multi-output regression are used for predicting the multiple profile *** is observed that the ID3-based decision tree for multioutput regression is the robust,highly-accurate machine learning model for fast modeling of *** proposed fiber claims to be an efficient candidate for the next-generation 5G and 6G backhaul networks using mode division multiplexing.
