A new impurity was detected during high performance liquid chromatographic （HPLc） analysis of eslicarbazepine acetate active pharmaceutical ingredient. The structure of unknown impurity was postulated based on liquid chromatography mass spectrometry using electrospray ionization and ion trap analyzer （Lc/ESI-IT/MS） analysis. Proposed structure of impurity was unambiguously confirmed by synthesis followed by characterization using 1H, 13c nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry （NMR）, 1H-1H correlation spectro-scopy （cOSY） and infrared spectroscopy （IR）. Based on the spectroscopic and spectrometric data, unknown impurity was characterized as 5-carbamoyl-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[b,f]azepin-10-yl propionate.

Domes are popularly used for column free areas. They are employed as covers to reservoirs and treatment units and also as containment in nuclear reactors. Inverted domes are popular as foundations. Structures are built with an intended end use for a specified utility period. The functional requirement is to serve the purpose and the structural requirement constitutes stability, strength, safety, serviceability and durability. Satisfaction of these requirements at affordable costs is the goal of structural optimization. This paper demonstrates the need and scope for optimization of domes by formulating and solving the problem by use of calculus （volume of material is the objective function being minimized using first principles of calculus）. A simple but elegant method is suggested for determination of wind stresses by statics which compares very well with that obtained by rigorous method.

In this study,the role of twin-twin interactions on the distributions of local defects(e.g.,dislocations)and stress fields in a magnesium alloy is investigated.A co-zone(1012)-(1012)tensile twin junction in a deformed Mg-3wt.%Y alloy is analyzed using transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that the morphology of the impinging(1012)twin is asymmetric,and the non-interacting boundary of the recipient(1012)twin is *** analysis of TEM images reveals that type-II pyramidal[1213](1212)dislocations concentrate in the vicinity of the twin-twin junction *** samec+a>dislocations are also observed inside the interacting twin domains along with a few ***c+a>dislocations emanating from the impinging(1012)twin boundary have edge character and are extended with faults parallel to the basal *** contrast,thec+a>dislocations connected to the recipient(1012)twin are predominantly screw orientation and ***-viscoplastic fast Fourier transform based crystal plasticity calculations are performed to rationalize the observed twin morphology and local dislocation *** model calculations suggest that the local stress fields generated at the junction site where the two twins meet are responsible for the experimentally observed concentration ofc+a>*** calculated stress fields are asymmetric with respect to the junction site,explaining the observed asymmetric morphology of the impinging ***,these findings show strong effects of twin-twin interactions on the distribution of dislocations as well as the evolution of the twinned microstructure and as such,can help advance understanding of twinning in Mg alloys and their effect on mechanical behavior.

carrot （Daucus carom） is a valuable source of health promoting ingredients such as anthocyanin, carotenes, phenolic compounds etc. These substances are important to man as a source of pharmaceuticals, fragrance, agrochemicals as well as food additives and used for prevention of many chronic diseases. Since these activities may be correlated with the presence of antioxidant compounds, extract of carrot and carrot callus were evaluated for their anthocyanin, flavonoids and total phenolic content as well as total antioxidant activity. Anthocyanin content was measured by spectrophotometric method. Total phenols and flavonoids were analyzed according to the Folin-ciocalteu method and total antioxidant activity was assessed by ferric reducing/antioxidant power （FRAP） assay. Anthocyanin, flavonoids and total phenolic content were estimated to be 9.36 mg%, 46.96 mg% and 57.01 mg% for callus and 6.82 mg%, 32.96 mg% and 42.69 mg% for carrot, respectively, on fresh weight basis. The total antioxidant activity for the callus and carrot was found to be 51.13 mg, 118.77 mg, 91.08 mg and 140.08 mg equivalent and 79.40 mg, 184.44 mg, 141.43 mg and 217.52 mg equivalent to gallic acid, vitamin c, butylated hydroxyanisole （BHA） and trolox, respectively, when expressed per 100 g on fresh weight basis. The antioxidant activity of fresh carrot was found to be higher compared to its callus.

In this study, the effect of combining different molecular domains on single platform has been reported that revealed a proper packing and interpenetration of fullerene spheres with the monomeric species. The fabricated IPN system exhibits hydrophobic behavior in nature. An interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) of fullerene-based poly (methyl hydro siloxane) (PMHS) and polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was prepared. The synthesized polymer network was characterized using infrared (IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetric analysis (DSc), and scanning electron microscopic (SEM) technique. The IPN was analyzed by IR spectroscopy, which depicts presence of fullerene at 500 cm−1 and 1632 cm−1, presence of PHMS at 1050 cm−1, 1250 cm−1, 2225 cm−1, and 3000 cm−1 and presence of PAN at 3077 cm−1, 1299 cm−1, 1408 cm−1 and 2083 cm−1. Shifting in band positions indicated the interpenetration of the reacting species. DSc endotherm showed crystalline peak (Tc) at 117˚c, which indicated the crystalline nature of the synthesized IPN. The absence of Tg peak and clear observable Tc peak revealed crystalline behavior of polymeric network. The microstructure of the polymer network was observed by SEM technique, which revealed transparent and dual-phase morphology of the IPN surface. The fluorescent emission spectra of polymeric network were recorded on a spectrofluorometer which revealed fluorescent excitation and emission spectra of the IPN. The Emission spectra generated by radiative decay of excitations exhibit a maximal peak at 450 nm, suggesting that the synthesized IPN nanosheets were typically high-intensity blue light emitting materials. The FTIR investigations revealed multiple non-covalent interactions achieved by polymerization with physical anchoring on the polymeric network surfaces. 爆竹柳（Salix fragilis）是拉胡尔（Lahaul）山谷冻原地区（位于印度喜马拉雅西北部）本地农林生态系统中分布最为广泛的一个柳树树种。目前，严重的害虫侵袭以及其他植物传染病已经威胁到该树种的生存状况。作为一种多用途的柳树，爆竹柳不仅具有提高植被覆盖度的功能，同时也是一种重要的薪材和饲料来源。本研究对区内Khoksa、Jahlma和Hinsa等三个村庄的爆竹柳进行了较为详细的调查。结果表明，爆竹柳分别为Khoksa、Jahlma和Hinsa三个村庄提供了69．5％、29％、42％的薪材来源。但令人吃惊的是，目前该地区仅有30．0±20．1％的爆竹柳处于健康状态，55．2±16．1％已经枯萎，14．8±6．1％由于受到害虫入侵和其他植物传染病的共同威胁而即将枯萎。建议以试验为基础，引进当地的野生种以及喜马拉雅类似地区的其他驯化种，以求维持拉胡尔地区原有农林生态系统中的柳树种植模式。
