Overexpression of Cdc25C predicts response to radiotherapy and survival in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients treated with radiotherapy followed by surgery

Biomarker identification is crucial for the selection of patients who might benefit from *** explore potential markers for response and prognosis in patients with locally advanced esophageal carcinoma treated with radiotherapy followed by surgery,we evaluated the expression of cell cycle checkpoint-related proteins Chk2,Cdc25C,and Cyclin D1.A total of 56 patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were treated with radiotherapy followed by *** tumor biopsy specimens were analyzed for Chk2,Cdc25C,and Cyclin D1 expression by *** expression of Chk2,Cyclin D1,and Cdc25C was observed in 44(78.6%),15(26.8%),and 27(48.2%) patients,*** median survival was 16 months(range,3-154 months),with a 5-year overall survival rate of 19.6%.Overexpression of Chk2 was associated with smoking(P = 0.021),overexpression of Cdc25C was associated with patient age(P = 0.033) and tumor length(P = 0.001),and overexpression of Cdc25C was associated with pathologic complete response(P = 0.038).Univariate analysis demonstrated that overexpression of Cdc25C and pathologic complete response was associated with better *** multivariate analysis,Cdc25C was the most significant independent predictor of better survival(P = 0.014) for patients treated with radiotherapy followed by *** of Cdc25C was significantly associated with pathologic complete response and better survival of patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer treated with radiotherapy followed by *** results suggest that Cdc25C may be a biomarker of treatment response and good prognosis for esophageal carcinoma ***,immunohistochemical staining of Cdc25C in a pretreatment specimen may be a useful method of identifying optimal treatment for patients with esophageal carcinoma.

Machine learning(ML)provides a new surrogate method for investigating groundwater flow dynamics in unsaturated *** pure data-driven methods(*** neural network,DNN)can provide rapid predictions,but they do require sufficient on-site data for accurate training,and lack interpretability to the physical processes within the *** this paper,we provide a physics and equalityconstrained artificial neural network(PECANN),to derive unsaturated infiltration solutions with a small amount of initial and boundary *** takes the physics-informed neural network(PINN)as a foundation,encodes the unsaturated infiltration physical laws(*** equation,RE)into the loss function,and uses the augmented Lagrangian method to constrain the learning process of the solutions of RE by adding stronger penalty for the initial and boundary *** unsaturated infiltration cases are designed to test the training performance of PECANN,***-dimensional(1D)steady-state unsaturated infiltration,1D transient-state infiltration,two-dimensional(2D)transient-state infiltration,and 1D coupled unsaturated infiltration and *** predicted results of PECANN are compared with the finite difference solutions or analytical *** results indicate that PECANN can accurately capture the variations of pressure head during the unsaturated infiltration,and present higher precision and robustness than DNN and *** is also revealed that PECANN can achieve the same accuracy as the finite difference method with fewer initial and boundary training ***,we investigate the effect of the hyperparameters of PECANN on solving RE *** provides an effective tool for simulating unsaturated infiltration.

The specific heat capacity of working fluid is an important influence factor on heat transfer characteristic of the pulsating heat pipe(PHP).Due to the relatively large specific heat capacity of micro encapsulated phase change material(MEPCM) suspension,a heat transfer performance experimental facility of the PHP was *** heat transfer characteristic with MEPCM suspension of different mass concentrations(0.5% and 1.0%) and ultra-pure water were compared *** was found that when the PHP uses MEPCM suspension as its working fluid,operating stability is impoverished under lower heating power and the operating stability is better under higher heating *** the inclination angle of 90°,the temperature at heating side decreases compared to ultra-pure water and the temperature at heating side decreases with the raising of MEPCM suspension mass *** heat transfer characteristic of the PHP is positively correlated with the inclination angle and the 90° is *** unfavorable effect of the inclination angle decreases with heating power *** the inclination angle is 90°,the PHP with MEPCM suspension at 1.0% of mass concentration has the lowest thermal transfer resistance and followed by ultra-pure water and MEPCM suspension at 0.5% of mass concentration has the highest thermal transfer *** the inclination angles are 60° and30°,the effect of gravity on the flow direction is reduced to 86.6% and 50% of that on the inclination angle of 90°,respectively,and the promoting effect of gravity on the working fluid is further weakened as the inclination angle further *** to the high viscosity of MEPCM suspension,the PHP with ultra-pure water has the lowest heat transfer *** the inclination angles is 60°,the thermal resistance with MEPCM suspension at0.5% of the mass concentration is lower than that at 1.0% at the heating power below 230 *** thermal resistance of MEPCM suspension tends to be simila

Frame and rocking wall(FRW)structures have excellent resilient performance during ***,the concrete at interfacial corners of rocking walls(RWs)is easily crushed due to local extreme compression during the rocking *** innovative RW with a curved interface is proposed to prevent interfacial corners from producing local damage,enhancing its earthquake resilient performance(ERP).The precast wall panel with a curved interface is assembled into an integral self-centering hybrid rocking wall(SCRW)by two post-tensioned unbonded prestressed ***,two ordinary energy dissipation steel rebars and two shear reinforcements are arranged to increase the energy dissipation capacity and lateral *** SCRW specimens and one monolithic reinforced concrete(RC)shear wall(SW)were tested under pseudo-static loading to compare the ERPs of the proposed SCRW and the SW,focusing on studying the effect of the curved interface on the *** key resilient performance of rocking effects,failure modes,and hysteretic properties of the SCRW were *** results show that nonlinear deformations of the SCRW are concentrated along the interface between the SCRW and the foundation,avoiding damage within the *** restoring force provided by the prestressed tendons can effectively realize self-centering capacity with small residual deformation,and the resilient performance of the SCRW is better than that of monolithic *** addition,the curved interface of the SCRW makes the rocking center change and move inward,partially relieving the stress concentration and crush of *** rocking range of the rocking center is about 41.4%of the width of the SCRW.

Background： Colorectal adenocarcinoma rarely occurred in adolescent. Clinical feature and prognosis of this population are not clear until now. In addition, DNA mismatch repair （MMR） status may relate to the early disease occurrence. The present study aimed to perform a retrospective analysis of adolescent patients with colorectal cancer, including clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis. Methods： The medical records of 11,503 patients diagnosed as colorectal cancer in Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from January 1999 to December 2009 were retrospectively reviewed. Finally, 19 patients who were between 10 and 20 years old were selected as the study group. We summarized the clinicopathological characteristics, analyzed the association with prognosis and assessed the expression of MMR protein by immunohistochemical method. Results： The most common primary site was the right colon in 7 patients. Ten patients had Stage III colorectal cancer, 5 patients had Stage IV disease. Signet ring cell carcinoma was the most frequent pathological type （7/19）. Deficient MMR was identified in 2 patients. The 5-year survival rate and median survival time were 23.2% and 26 months. Distant metastasis was identified as an independent prognostic factor （P = 0.02）. Conclusions： Colorectal cancer in Chinese adolescents was very rare. The chinese adolecents with colorectal cancer were frequently diagnosed in the right colon, as Stage Ⅲ/Ⅳdisease with signet ring cell carcinoma. The prognosis was relatively poor.
