The ver. long tr.dition of the activated sludge tr.atment model within the water.industr. has demonstr.ted ver. ver.atile possibilities to adopt the oper.tion mode for.differ.nt enhancements. By looking into other.tr.atment models within the activated sludge family it is possible to find alter.atives for.the oper.tion. This paper.concentr.tes on the possibilities to impr.ve even small WWTP with r.spect to ener.y savings. The small plant in Nor.her. Sweden, called r.svik WWTP, is given as an example. Some impor.ant findings r.lated to the inter.ittent aer.tion mode may be summar.zed as follows: 1) An ener.y savings for.the oper.tion of the small WWTP with r.spect to aer.tion needs that r.sulted in a decr.ase of the ener.y power.supply by mor. than 35%, as compar.d with the pr.vious oper.tion based on continuous aer.tion;2) The up to date effluent levels with r.spect to the main pollutants have r.mained at ver. good levels in 2020, P-level aver.ges 0.16 mg P/l ver.us consent level 0.5 mg P/l;COD-level 40 versus 70 mg/l and BOD7 9 versus 15 mg/l;3) Sometimes, also improved sludge settling characteristics have been observed, thus providing improved discharge figures;4) The potential to develop an enhanced biological phosphorus removal. There are however some needed conditions to accomplish these improvements: 1) Reliabler.ana;"> on-line pr.bes for.both oxygen contr.l, SS-concentr.tion contr.l and optionally also for.nitr.gen contr.l;2) A flexible automation system that allows the needed pr.cess modifications to take place;3) And finally, ver. impor.ant dedicated and competent plant oper.tor., with the needed cur.osi

In this study height gr.wth models for.hybr.d aspen wer. developed using thr.e gr.wth equations. The mean age of the hybr.d aspen was 21 year. （r.nge 15-51 year.） with a mean stand density of 946 stems ha-~ （87-2374） and a mean diameter.at br.ast height （over.bar.） of 19.6 cm （8.5-40.8 cm）. Site index was also examined in r.lation to soil type. Multiple samples wer. collected for.thr.e types of soil： light clay, medium clay and till. Site index cur.es wer. constr.cted using the col- lected data and compar.d with published r.por.s. A number.of dynamic equations wer. assessed for.modeling top-height gr.wth fr.m total age.

We constr.ct dr. weight equations for.hybr.d aspen gr.wing on for.er.far.land in Sweden. Dr. weight equations for.fr.ctions of hybr.d aspen tr.es wer. also made. We estimated biomass pr.duction in 24 stands. The stands wer. located in Sweden at latitudes r.nging fr.m 55 to 60o N. The mean age was 18 year. （r.nge 15-23）, the mean stand density 1090 stems·ha-1 （r.nge 378 2374）, and the mean diameter.at br.ast height （over.bar.） 178 mm （r.nge 85 244 mm）. Soil types in the hybr.d aspen stands wer. mainly clay （21 stands）, tills （2 stands） and other.（1 stand）. The mean total standing dr. weight above stump level （≈ 200 mm） for.the hybr.d aspen stands was 135±53 t·ha-1 with a r.nge of 42 219 t·ha-1 . In addition to estimating conventional dr. weights of tr.es and tr.e components, basic density, specific leaf ar.a （SLA）, pr.jected leaf ar.a （PLA） and leaf ar.a index （LAI） wer. estimated and wer. in agr.ement with published figur.s.

The stor.ge of hydr.gen gas in lined r.ck caver.s(Lr.s)may enable the implementation of the fir.tlar.e-scale fossil-fr.e steelmaking pr.cess in Sweden,but filling such stor.ge causes joints in the r.ckmass to open,concentr.ting str.ins in the *** str.ctur.l inter.ction between the Lr. componentsmust be able to r.duce the str.in concentr.tion in the sealing steel lining;however.this inter.ction iscomplex and difficult to pr.dict with analytical *** this paper.the str.in concentr.tion in Lr.sfr.m the opening of r.ck joints is studied using finite element(FE)analyses,wher. the lar.e-and small-scale defor.ation behavior. of the Lr. ar. *** model also includes concr.te cr.ck initiation anddevelopment with incr.asing gas pr.ssur. and r.ck joint *** inter.ction between the jointed r.ckmass and the r.infor.ed concr.te,the sliding layer.and the steel lining is *** r.sults showthat the r.ck mass quality and the spacing of the r.ck joints have the gr.atest influence on the str.indistr.butions in the steel *** lar.est effect of r.ck joints on the maximum str.ins in the steellining was obser.ed for.geological conditions of“good”quality r.ck masses.
