An introduction to the basics of spectral imaging as applied to biological tissues is *** example of a spectral image of a face is used to demonstrate the data and spectral analysis that specify the melanin content(M),blood content(B),tissue oxygen saturation(S),water content(W),fraction of scattering due to Rayleigh scattering(f)and due to Mie scattering(1−f),and the reduced scattering coefficient at 500-nm wavelength(µs 500 nm).The sensitivity of reflectance spectra to variation in the various parameters is illustrated.

The mechanism of action of clearing agents to improve optical imaging of mouse skin during reflectance-mode confocal microscopy was *** dermal side of excised dorsal mouse skin was exposed for one hour to saline,glycerin,or 80% DMSO,then the clearing agent was removed and the dermis placed against a glass cover slip through which a confocal microscope measured reflectance at 488 nm *** untreated control was also *** axial attenuation of reflectance signal,R(z_(f))versus increasing depth of focus zf behaved as R=ρexp(−μz_(f) 2G),where ρ is tissue reflectivity and μ is attenuation[cm^(−1)].The factor 2G accounts for the in/out path of photons,and the numerical aperture of the *** ρ,μ data were mapped to values of scattering coefficient(μ_(s)[cm^(−1)])and anisotropy of scattering(g).Images showed that glycerin significantly increased the g of dermis from about 0.7 to about 0.99,with little change in the μ_(s) of dermis at about 300cm^(−1).DMSO and saline had only slight and inconsistent effects on g and μ_(s).

Reasonably designing highly active,environmentally friendly,and cost-effective catalysts for efficient elimination of pollutants from water is desirable but ***,an efficient heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalyst tourmaline(TM)/tungsten oxide(WO_(3-x))(named TW10)containing tungsten/boron/iron(W/B/Fe)synergistic active centers and 90%of cheap natural tourmaline(TM)mineral rich in Fe and B *** TW10 catalyst can quickly activate peroxymonosulfate(PMS)to generate massive active free radicals,which may induce the rapid and efficient degradation of tetracycline(TC).The TW10/PMS/Visible light system can effectively degrade up to 98.7%of tetracycline(TC)in actual waters(***,Yellow River,and Yangtze River water),and the catalytic degradation rates reach 1.65,5.569,and 2.38 times higher than those of TM,WO_(3-x),and commercial P25(Degussa,Germany),*** addition,the catalyst can be recycled and reused multiple *** spin resonance spectroscopy(EPR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer(lC-MS)analyses confirm that the synergistic catalytic effect of W/B/Fe sites on the TW10 catalyst accelerates the electron transfer between Fe(Ⅱ)and Fe(Ⅲ),as well as between W(Ⅴ)and W(Ⅵ),and thus promotes the rapid degradation of *** catalytic reaction mechanism and degradation pathway of TC were *** work provides a feasible route for the design and development of new eco-friendly and efficient catalyst.

We demonstrate the generation,spectral broadening and post-compression of second harmonic pulses using a thin beta barium borate(BBO)crystal on a fused-silica substrate as the nonlinear interaction *** combining second harmonic generation in the BBO crystal with self-phase modulation in the fused-silica substrate,we efficiently generate millijoule-level broadband violet pulses from a single optical *** second harmonic spectrum covers a range from long wave ultraviolet(down to 310 nm)to visible(up to 550 nm)with a bandwidth of 65 ***,we compress the second harmonic beam to a duration of 4.8 fs with a pulse energy of 0.64 mJ(5 fs with a pulse energy of 1.05 mJ)using chirped *** all-solid free-space apparatus is compact,robust and pulse energy scalable,making it highly advantageous for generating intense second harmonic pulses from near-infrared femtosecond lasers in the sub-5 fs regime.

This experimental study investigates the friction and wear of three coatings commonly used in industrial applications,particularly in hydrodynamic *** three materials under investigation were Babbitt,polyether ether ketone(PEEK)reinforced with 15%carbon fibers,and PEEK reinforced with 20%carbon *** first polymer material was extruded,while the other was produced by fused deposition modelling(FDM).The materials were subjected to sliding tests in a pin-on-disc configuration,with a steel ball serving as the counter *** tests were conducted at room temperature,with a load of 10 N and under three different lubrication conditions:dry,grease,and *** linear speed was set at 0.3 m/s for the dry and semi-solid lubrication tests,while for the oil tests,the speed was set at 0.25 m/*** greases used had consistency grades of NGlI 000 and NGlI *** ISO VG 68 circulation oil was used for the oil lubrication ***,thermodynamic analyses were performed under the most severe conditions(i.e.,dry)to investigate the steel-Babbitt and steel-PEEK contact.

Human monoamine oxidase B(hMAO-B)has emerged as a pivotal therapeutic target for Parkinson's *** to adverse effects and shortage of commercial drugs,there is a need for novel,highly selective,and reversible hMAO-B inhibitors with good blood-brain barrier *** this study,a high-throughput at-line nanofractionation screening platform was established with extracts from Chuanxiong Rhizoma,which resulted in the discovery of 75 active compounds,including phenolic acids,volatile oils,and phthalides,two of which were highly selective novel natural phthalide hMAO-B inhibitors that were potent,selective,reversible and had good blood‒brain *** docking and molecular dynamics simulations elucidated the inhibition ***(IC_(50)=103 nmol/l;SI=645)and neocnidilide(IC_(50)=131 nmol/l;SI=207)demonstrated their excellent potential as hMAO-B *** offset the limitations of deactivating enzymes associated with irreversible hMAO-B inhibitors such as *** SH-SY5Y cell assays,sedanolide(EC_(50)=0.962μmol/l)and neocnidilide(EC_(50)=1.161μmol/l)exhibited significant neuroprotective effects,comparable to the positive drugs rasagiline(EC_(50)=0.896μmol/l)and safinamide(EC_(50)=1.079μmol/l).These findings underscore the potential of sedanolide as a novel natural hMAO-B inhibitor that warrants further development as a promising drug candidate.
