Reasonab.y designing highly active,environmentally friendly,and cost-effective catalysts for efficient elimination of pollutants from water is desirab.e b.t ***,an efficient heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalyst tourmaline(TM)/tungsten oxide(WO_(3-x))(named TW10)containing tungsten/b.ron/iron(W/b.Fe)synergistic active centers and 90%of cheap natural tourmaline(TM)mineral rich in Fe and b.*** TW10 catalyst can quickly activate peroxymonosulfate(PMS)to generate massive active free radicals,which may induce the rapid and efficient degradation of tetracycline(TC).The TW10/PMS/Visib.e light system can effectively degrade up to 98.7%of tetracycline(TC)in actual waters(***,Yellow River,and Yangtze River water),and the catalytic degradation rates reach 1.65,5.569,and 2.38 times higher than those of TM,WO_(3-x),and commercial P25(Degussa,Germany),*** addition,the catalyst can b. recycled and reused multiple *** spin resonance spectroscopy(EPR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer(LC-MS)analyses confirm that the synergistic catalytic effect of W/b.Fe sites on the TW10 catalyst accelerates the electron transfer b.tween Fe(Ⅱ)and Fe(Ⅲ),as well as b.tween W(Ⅴ)and W(Ⅵ),and thus promotes the rapid degradation of *** catalytic reaction mechanism and degradation pathway of TC were *** work provides a feasib.e route for the design and development of new eco-friendly and efficient catalyst.

b.ckground:Skeletal muscle energetics decline with age,and physical activity(PA)has b.en shown to offset these declines in older ***,many studies reporting these effects were b.sed on self-reported PA or structured exercise ***,we examined the associations of accelerometry-measured and self-reported PA and sedentary b.havior(Sb.with skeletal muscle energetics and explored the extent to which PA and sedentary b.havior would attenuate the associations of age with muscle ***:As part of the Study of Muscle,Mob.lity and Aging,enrolled older adults(n=879),810(age=76.4±5.0 years old,mean±SD;58%women)had maximal muscle oxidative capacity measured ex vivo via high-resolution re spirometry of permeab.lized myofib.rs(maximal oxidative phosphorylation(maxOXPHOS))and in vivo b. ^(31)phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy(maximal adenosine triphosphate(ATP_(max))).Accelerometry-measured sedentary b.havior,light activity,and moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA)were assessed using a wrist-worn ActiGraph GT9X over 7 ***-reported sedentary b.havior,MVPA,and all PA were assessed with the Community Healthy Activities Model Program for Seniors(CHAMPS)*** regression models with progressive covariate adjustments evaluated the associations of sedentary b.havior and PA with muscle energetics,as well as the attenuation of the age/muscle energetics association b. Self-assemb.ed molecular networks(SAMNs)formed on crystalline solid sub.trates result from the spontaneous arrangement of individual molecules into structured *** interaction b.tween molecules and the sub.trate leads to a nonrandom orientation of SAMNs with respect to the sub.trate’s *** the case of graphite,the sixfold rotational symmetry of the sub.trate results in an equivalent rotational degeneracy in the orientation of *** this study,we explored how nanoconfinement,that is,the restriction of SAMN formation to nanometersized areas,known as nanocorrals,could impact and potentially alleviate the orientational degeneracy of SAMNs,with emphasis on the influence of molecule symmetry,size,and intermolecular *** this end,we investigated the orientation distrib.tion of n-alkanes and functionalized alkanes within nanocorrals,which were fab.icated using scanning tunneling microscopy lithography(nanoshaving).We ob.erved lifting of orientational degeneracy for long alkanes,contrary to shorter alkanes,which did not exhib.t this orientation ***,functionalized alkanes with hydrogen b.nding groups demonstrated preferential alignment regardless of length,highlighting the significance of stab.lizing intermolecular interactions in the alignment *** study discussed the underlying principles of the molecular packing process and shed light on the complexity of molecular self-assemb.y in nanoconfined spaces.

In addition to their value as cereal grains, wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and triticale (× Triticosecale Wittmack) are important cool-season annual forages and cover crops. Yearling steer (b.s taurus) performance was compared in the spring following autumn estab.ishment as for age cover crops after soyb.an [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] grain harvest. Replicated pastures (0.4 ha) were no-till seeded in three consecutive years into soyb.an stub.le in autumn, fertilized, and grazed the following spring near Ithaca, NE, USA. Each pasture (n = 3) was continuously stocked in spring with four yearling steers (380 ± 38 kg) for 17, 32, and 28 d in 2005, 2006, and 2007, respectively. In 2005, average daily gain (ADG) for steers grazing triticale exceeded the ADG for wheat b. 0.31 kghd-1d-1. In 2006, wheat ADG exceeded that for triticale b. 0.12 kghd-1d-1. In 2007, steers grazing wheat lost weight, while steers grazing triticale gained 0.20 kghd-1d-1. b.sed on the 3-year average animal gains valued at $1.32 kg-1, mean net return ($ ha-1 yr-1) was $62.15 for triticale and $22.55 for wheat. Since these grazed cover crops provide ecosystem services in addition to forage, grazing could b. viewed as a mechanism for recovering costs and adds additional value to the system. b.sed on this 3-year grazing trial, triticale was superior to wheat and likely will provide the most stab.e b.ef yearling performance across years with variab.e weather for the western Cornb.lt USA.
