Longitudinal Analysis of Inter-Limb Coordination Before and After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury: The JUMP-ACL Study

Purpose Inter-limb coordination may provide insight into why patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstructive sur-gery(ACLR)have an increased risk for future injury and *** purpose of this study was to compare inter-limb coordination prior-to anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)injury and following *** Unilateral lower extremity biomechanics during a double-leg jump landing were collected prior-to ACL injury(baseline)and after ACLR,rehabilitation,and return to physical activity(follow-up).Sixty-nine participants were included in this analysis:31 participants suffered an ACL injury since baseline:12 injured the leg tested at baseline[ACLR-injured leg(ACLR-INJ),n=12]and 19 injured the leg that was not tested at baseline[ACLR-uninjured leg(ACLR-UNINJ)n=19];38 participants served as matched ***-limb coordination-calculated as the mean coupling angle-between the hip and knee were measured in the respective leg of each defined group and compared amongst groups at baseline and *** We observed no significant change in sagittal or frontal plane inter-limb coordination amongst groups or across time(P>0.05).A significant decrease in inter-limb coordination in the transverse plane from baseline and follow-up was observed but limited to the ACLR-INJ group(P=0.016).Conclusion The primary finding of this study is that inter-limb coordination between the hip and knee in the sagittal and frontal plane is unchanged by ACL injury and *** may help explain previous observations of changes in kinemat-ics at both the hip and knee in this *** observation of alterations in the transverse plane should be interpreted with caution,but may provide additional evidence for potential mechanisms that lead to the development of osteoarthritis in ACLR patients.

Background:Participation in sports is associated with many benefits to all aspects of health;however,it also comes with the risk of injury,particularly ***-disclosure and care seeking following a concussion are especially important because of the lack of outwardly visible signs and/or *** recent research has explored factors affecting concussion disclosure,use of isolated methodologies limits the ability to contextualize how disclosure or nondisclosure ***,the purpose of this study was to describe the factors and expectations of National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA)athletes that may influence concussion ***:This mixed-methods convergent parallel research study included 25 NCAA Division I athletes representing 13 sports,all of whom completed a concussion-education session with pre-/post-test surveys and a semistructured *** athletes were at least 18 years old and on an NCAA *** surveys focused on previous concussion-related disclosure behaviors,knowledge,attitudes,beliefs,norms,and intentions about disclosing *** focused on the athletes’experiences related to concussion *** data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Mann-Whitney U *** were analyzed using a Consensual Qualitative Research ***:Participants had good concussion knowledge(median=46.0),positive attitudes(median=38.0),strong beliefs(median=13.0),and strong intentions to disclose concussion symptoms(median=7.0).None of the constructs differed by participants’*** quantitative findings were mostly positive,interview data highlighted factors that may explain why some participants are successful in disclosing concussions and why others may find disclosure *** efforts,sport culture,and medical professional presence were the primary facilitators discussed by ***,pressure,and a lack of team support were perceived as di

Spatial memory is crucial for survival within external surroundings and wild *** hippocampus,a critical hub for spatial learning and memory formation,has received extensive investigations on how neuromodulators shape its functions(Teixeira et al.,2018;Zhang et al.,2024).However,the landscape of neuromodulations in the hippocampal system remains poorly understood because most studies focus on classical monoamine neuromodulators,such as acetylcholine,serotonin,dopamine,and *** neuropeptides,comprising the most abundant neuromodulators in the central nervous system,play a pivotal role in neural information processing in the hippocampal ***(CCK),one of the most abundant neuropeptides,has been implicated in regulating various physiological and neurobiological statuses(Chen et al.,2019).CCK-A receptor(CCK-AR)and CCK-B receptors(CCK-BR)are two key receptors mediating the biological functions of CCK,both of which belong to class-A sevenfold transmembrane G protein-coupled receptors(Nishimura et al.,2015).CCK-AR preferentially reacts to sulfated CCK,whereas CCK-BR binds both CCK and gastrin with similar affinities(Ding et al.,2022).The expression patterns of CCK-AR and CCK-BR are distinct,implying that CCK has various functions in target *** instance,CCK-AR is widely expressed in the GI and brain subregions and is hence implicated in the control of digestive function and satiety ***,CCK-BR is abundantly and widely distributed in the central nervous system,which majorly regulates anxiety,learning,and memory(Ding et al.,2022).However,the roles of endogenous CCK and CCK receptors in regulating hippocampal function at electrophysiological and behavioral levels have received less attention.

Ventilation system analysis for underground mines has remained mostly unchanged since the Atkinson method was made popular by Mc Elroy in 1935. Data available to ventilation technicians and engineers is typically limited to the quantity of air moving through any given heading. Because computer-aided modelling, simulation, and ventilation system design tools have improved, it is now important to ensure that developed models have the most accurate information possible. This paper presents a new technique for estimating underground drift friction factors that works by processing 3 D point cloud data obtained by using a mobile Li DAR. Presented are field results that compare the proposed approach with previously published algorithms, as well as with manually acquired measurements.

Ramps(or declines) are often used in underground mines to transport ore, waste, materials, and personnel. This paper studies mine ramp productivity and presents results from a set of computer simulations designed to model the fundamental behaviours of ramp haulage systems. Simulations show that, under fundamental assumptions without random disturbances, the haulage system always converges to a periodic behaviour in the steady state, but that productivities vary between equilibria. Simulations also demonstrate how productivity per vehicle does not necessarily decrease as more vehicles are added and,for example, in the five-vehicle case, how a 3.1% improvement can be achieved over the use of four vehicles. The result reveals the inefficiency of commonly-used lockout-style vehicle coordination strategies,and suggests a possible avenue for improving the productivity of haulage ramps by controlling the system to achieve more productive behaviours.
