Useful predictions ahead of large earthquakes and lessons learned for future progress

A significant basis for this article is the outcome of 4 multinational research projects which were carried out in South-West Iceland from 1988-2006,focusing on crustal processes that preceded two magnitude-6.6 earthquakes in June *** seismic activity that preceded a magnitude 6.3 double-earthquake in the same seismic zone in 2008 is also significant,as well as other research work which helps to understand how observable crustal processes lead to earthquakes.A significant outcome is that it cannot be assumed that any two earthquakes have the same precursory ***,statistical analysis of precursors of past earthquakes is of limited value for predicting future *** the other hand,with highly sensitive seismic monitoring it is possible to observe the nucleation process for each specific large earthquake for long enough time for earth-realistic modeling of it and extrapolating towards the earthquake in time and *** the Iceland crust,with its fluid-rock interactions,pre-earthquake activity on a scale of years is *** allows a long-term approach to *** apply historical information and sensor-based data to find probable sources of earthquake *** monitor the nucleation process for a possibly impending earthquake at these sources,and then model the process to find its governing factors and extrapolate those in time and space,aiming towards finding hypocenter,fault-size,impact,and time of the impending *** refine our models by predicting frequent medium-sized earthquakes and compare the predictions with *** predict how the possibly impending large earthquake would trigger earthquakes at other *** the complexity of the crust,we must take all observed changes into account when developing models of pre-earthquake *** development of a continuously operating geo-watching system is discussed to link scientific evaluations to warnings that can be used by emergency authorities.

In order to make decisions all companies need information. As a rule, all the informatics systems of a company contain a multitude of data and turn these data into information that has to be analyzed in order to make decisions. It is a slow process. The solution of this drawback is given by Business Intelligence （BI） applications that can help companies increase income or diminish costs by offering the executive management appropriate information on the basis of which quick and efficient decisions can be taken.The main purpose of the paper is to prove the necessity that BI tools should be used by the modem manager. Managers are aware of that by putting into practice the BI solutions, opportunities of getting control over the business process and methods are improved and better, timely analysis functions of the performance parameters can be obtained.

Dietary, physical activity, and weight management interventions among active-duty military personnel: a systematic review

Background: Research has been conducted to assess the effectiveness of weight management, dietary and physical activity interventions in military settings. However, a recent and comprehensive overview is lacking. The aim of this systematic review is to examine the evidence and describe key components of effective interventions in terms of improving body composition, dietary behaviors, and physical activity among active-duty military ***: Pub Med, Psyc Info, and CINAHL were searched on the 17 th of November 2017 to identify interventions that promoted diet and/or physical activity among active-duty military personnel. Studies were included if they assessed outcomes related to anthropometric measurements, dietary behaviors, or fitness/physical activity levels. There were no restrictions regarding publication date, follow-up duration, and sex. After screening, a total of 136 studies were eligible. Of these studies, 38 included an educational and/or behavioral change component, and 98 had only physical or fitness training as part of basic military training. Only studies that included an educational and/or behavioral change component were assessed for quality using the Effective Public Health Practice Project tool and included in the qualitative synthesis of the ***: Based on consistent evidence from studies that were rated as moderate or strong, there is good evidence that military weight management interventions are effective in improving body composition for durations of up to 12 months. Effective interventions are more likely to be high intensity(have a greater number of sessions), are more often delivered by specialists, and use theoretical base/behavioral change techniques and a standardized guideline. Dietary interventions can potentially reduce total fat and saturated fat intake. Dietary interventions that target the kitchen staff and/or increase the availability of healthy food are more likely to be effective in the short term. The resu

蛋鸡产蛋性能与很多因素相关,其中最重要的就是鸡群开产前的体重。高质量的青年鸡需要开产前体重达到或者超过品种设定的标准。但是在青年母鸡培育过程中经常会因为肠道梭菌等问题使鸡群的体重偏低,发育不良,导致后期生产性能下降。位于荷兰的一家企业(Het Anker公司)遇到了这样的问题。为解决该问题,该公司用益生菌(克洛生TM)来改善鸡群健康,试验共使用了62群鸡,31群空白对照,31群益生菌组,进行了近一年的试验,结果表明益生菌可以明显提高青年蛋鸡的平均体重,比该公司的蛋鸡12周龄标准体重高32 g/只,比空白对照组鸡群高19 g/只。不仅如此,克洛生还能提高鸡群的均匀度,为后期的高产打下良好基础。
