Phase change materials have a key role for wearable thermal management,but suffer from poor water vapor permeability,low enthalpy value and weak shape stability caused by liquid phase leakage and intrinsic rigidity of solid–liquid phase change ***,we report for the first time a versatile strategy for designed assembly of high-enthalpy flexible phase change nonwovens(GB-PCN)by wet-spinning hybrid grapheneboron nitride(GB)fiber and subsequent impregnating paraffins(e.g.,eicosane,octadecane).As a result,our GB-PCN exhibited an unprecedented enthalpy value of 206.0 J g^(−1),excellent thermal reliability and anti-leakage capacity,superb thermal cycling ability of 97.6%after 1000 cycles,and ultrahigh water vapor permeability(close to the cotton),outperforming the reported PCM films and fibers to ***,the wearable thermal management systems based on GB-PCN for both clothing and face mask were demonstrated,which can maintain the human body at a comfortable temperature range for a significantly long ***,our results demonstrate huge potential of GB-PCN for human-wearable passive thermal management in real scenarios.

Laparoscopic liver resection:Wedge resections to living donor hepatectomy, are we heading in the right direction?

Despite inception over 15 years ago and over 3000 completed procedures, laparoscopic liver resection has remained mainly in the domain of selected centers and enthusiasts. Requirement of extensive open liver resection(OLR) experience, in-depth understanding of anatomy and considerable laparoscopic technical expertise may have delayed wide application. However healthy scepticism of its actual benefits and presence of a potential publication bias; concern about its safety and technical learning curve, are probably equally responsible. Given that a large proportion of our work, at least in transplantation is still OLR, we have attempted to provide an entirely unbiased, mature opinion of its pros and cons in the current invited review. We have dividedthis review into two sections as we believe they merit separate attention on technical and ethical grounds. The first part deals with laparoscopic liver resection(LLR) in patients who present with benign or malignant liver pathology, wherein we have discussed its overall outcomes; its feasibility based on type of pathology and type of resection and included a small section on application of LLR in special scenarios like cirrhosis. The second part deals with the laparoscopic living donor hepatectomy(LDH) experience to date, including its potential impact on transplantation in general. Donor safety, graft outcomes after LDH and criterion to select ideal donors for LLR are discussed. Within each section we have provided practical points to improve safety in LLR and attempted to reach reasonable recommendations on the utilization of LLR for units that wish to develop such a service.

目的：利用SWI定量测量缺血性脑中风患者颅内静脉及脑白质的相位值来评估其氧摄取分数与临床症状的相关性。材料与方法：本回顾性研究包括18例年龄在20-83岁(平均59.2岁，男11例，女7例)的急性缺血性脑中风患者和24例(年龄20-79岁)年龄与之相匹配的健康志愿者。详细记录患者临床资料(年龄、性别、临床诊断、治疗计划等)，本研究患者均未进行溶栓治疗。患者临床评分由一名资深神经内科医生根据美国国立卫生研究院卒中量表(NIHSS)进行评分。磁共振扫描序列包括T1WI、T2Flair、DWI、SWI，NIHSS评分在三个不同时间点进行(急性、亚急性和慢性期)。利用DWI和T2WI判定病灶位置、形态和梗死程度。使用SPIN软件(SWI processing in NMR，美国韦恩州立大学医学中心馈赠)对数据进行后处理。测量18名脑中风患者3个时期及对照组脑内静脉和脑白质区相位值(phase值)，并在三个不同时间点之间、中风组和对照组之间进行比较。对phase值和NIHSS评分进行Spearman相关分析。结果：中风患者组的相位值与对照组之间显著相关，对照组的平均相位值高于中风患者(p=0.005)。对中风患者三个时间点脑内静脉相位值的分析表明，急性、亚急性和慢性期三个阶段的相位值均有关联(p值分别为0.000，0.005)，在三个阶段中，相位值的改变和NIHSS评分之间显著相关，分别为急性急性(r=-0.492, p=0.001)、亚急性性(r=-0.419,p=0.011)、急性性(r=-0.327, p=0.006)。脑白质的相位值在三个阶段之间无显著差异(p=0.361,0.829)。结论：缺血性脑中风患者血液中脱氧血红蛋白与氧合血红蛋白的比率增高，导致其颅内静脉与周围脑组织相位值的不同，因此可以利用SWI的相位值测量来评估患者全病程的氧摄取分数改变(phase值与OEF呈负相关)。检测脑中风患者一定时期内OEF值的变化可能有助于预测患者的临床症状及预后。本研究还证实，只有颅内静脉的相位值与OEF具有相关性。

BACKGROUND The utility of D-dimer(DD)as a biomarker for acute aortic dissection(AD)is ***,its predictive value for in-hospital mortality remains uncertain and subject to conflicting *** To conduct a meta-analysis of AD-related in-hospital mortality(ADIM)with elevated DD *** We searched PubMed,Scopus,Embase,and Google Scholar for AD and ADIM literature through May *** was assessed using I2 statistics and effect size(hazard or odds ratio)analysis with random-effects *** size,study type,and patients’mean age were used for subgroup *** significance threshold was P60 *** and larger sample size studies(n>250)demonstrated a heightened likelihood of ADIM associated with elevated DD levels(effect size:2.57,95%CI:1.30-5.08,P<0.01 vs effect size:1.05,95%CI:1.00-1.11,P=0.05,respectively).CONCLUSION Our meta-analysis shows elevated DD increases in-hospital mortality risk in AD patients,highlighting the need for larger,prospective studies to improve risk prediction models.

Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma:The need for a timely diagnosis

Cardiac papillary fibroelastomas(CPFs) are the second most common primary cardiac tumors and the most common cardiac valvular tumors. Although they are histologically benign and usually asymptomatic, CPFs can lead to serious and life-threatening complications like myocardial infarction, stroke, pulmonary embolus, cardiac arrest etc. CPFs represent a rare entity in clinical medicine and literature regarding their management is limited. We report two cases which illustrate such complications arising from undiagnosed CPFs on the aortic valve. We further stress on the importance of identifying CPFs early so that they can be managed appropriately based on recommendations from the available literature.

Comparative Organics Remediation Properties of Nanostructured Graphene Doped Titanium Oxide and Graphene Doped Zinc Oxide Photocatalysts

In recent years, we have accomplished effective organics remediation using titanium oxide (TiO2) doped transition metals, zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires and silver & palladium doped ZnO nanowires. The present manuscript displays the advantage of organic remediation in both UV and visible radiation using graphene (G) doped TiO2 nanoparticles, G doped ZnO nanowires. The nanostructured G-TiO2 nanoparticles and G-ZnO nanowires were synthesized using sol-gel and hydrothermal methods. The nanostructured materials were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD), procedures. The remediation of organic compounds (naphthalene, methyl orange) in water was achieved under both UV and visible radiation using graphene doped nanostructured photocatalytic materials. The advantage of graphene doped ZnO nanowires as well as G-TiO2 nanoparticles has revealed organics remediation in both UV and visible radiation of light.

Modeling the Impact of Cell Type and Substrate Stiffness on Cell Traction

We propose a mathematical model to suggest a unified explanation behind the observation that some cell types tend to spread more efficiently on stiff substrates and are able to adapt their internal stiffness to the external stiffness. Our model also offers an explanation regarding the dependence of cell spreading on cell type. We show that our model for stiffness adaptation is in good agreement with experimental data. We also apply our model to calculate the energy of traction on bulk substrates as well as thin coatings, thereby extracting estimates of critical coating thickness as a function of cell type and coating bulk modulus.
