Increasing energy cost calls for exterior coatings with high near infra-red reflectance,so as to reduce heat absorption and in turn cost of *** modulations of substrate,use of white metal oxides as pigments or under-layers has been reported in past,reports on metal oxide or doped metal oxide pigments with high NIR reflectance is *** report for the first time a blue colored cobalt aluminate type pigment prepared through doping of cerium,praseodymium or *** color measurements and calculation ofDE indicated that the Nd doped sample had crystal size of(36±1)nm,bandgap value of(2.4±0.2)eV and color coordinates similar to that of cobalt *** molar ratio as estimated by EDX was found to be Al:Cu:Co:Ce:Nd:O=2:0.06:0.06:0.012:0.00012:*** pigment was found to have potential applications as a cool blue colorant,owing to changes in optical properties arising out of crystal chemistry *** of rare earth metal ions was found to enhance the NIR reflectance by 10%,when compared to a conventional cobalt aluminate *** oxide has been well characterized and its performance as a pigment *** have proposed that changes in crystal lattice when neodymium enters into Ce4+sites enhance the NIR reflectance by about 9%as against the entry of praseodymium.

This study aims to delineate and analyze the configuration of social networks of farmers with respect to the acquisition of information on vital livestock *** stage sampling was carried out by interviewing 320 technology-adopter farmers from four districts of Kerala State in *** mapping the network,social network analysis(SNA)was used,which revealed the important sources as well as patterns of information access by *** established the predominance of a formal communication source(veterinary doctor)in the study locales followed by small-sized peer groups of livestock farmers for crucial information support on technology *** trend is observed irrespective of their gender in various study *** the study thus,underscored the role of homogenous peer groups of farmers in facilitating meaningful interactions as well as information sharing on the *** the low level of adoption of most livestock technologies along with the weak livestock extension machinery in the country,these findings could be used by extension agencies to strategize future technological interventions.

This paper presents a design of continuous-time sliding mode control for the higher order systems via reduced order model. It is shown that a continuous-time sliding mode control designed for the reduced order model gives similar performance for thc higher order system. The method is illustrated by numerical examples. The paper also introduces a technique for design of a sliding surface such that the system satisfies a cost-optimality condition when on the sliding surface.

Waste plastics,such as waste polyethylene terephthalate(PET)beverage bottles and waste rubber tyres are major municipal solid wastes,which may lead to various environmental problems if they are not appropriately *** this study,the feasibility of collectively recycling the two types of waste into performance-increasing modifiers for asphalt pavements was *** study aimed to investigate the recycling mechanisms of waste PET-derived additives under the treatment of two amines,triethylenetetramine(TETA)and ethanolamine(EA),and characterize the performances of these additives in modifying rubberized bitumen,a bitumen modified by waste tyre *** this end,infrared spectroscopy and thermal analyses were carried out on the two PET-derived additives(PET–TETA and PET–EA).In addition,infrared spectroscopy,viscosity,dynamic shear rheology,and multiple stress creep recovery tests were performed on the rubberized bitumen samples modified by the two PET-derived *** concluded that waste PET can be chemically upcycled into functional additives,which can increase the overall performance of the rubberized *** recycling method developed in this study not only helps alleviate the landfilling problems of both waste PET plastic and scrap tyres,but also turns these wastes into value-added new materials for building durable pavements.

The natural history,associations with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),and long-term outcomes of large duct primary sclerosing cholangitis(ldPSC)have been well *** duct primary sclerosing cholangitis(sdPSC)is a much less common and relatively more benign *** natural history of sdPSC has been difficult to characterize given the limited number of studies in the literature especially with regards to the subset of patients who progress to large duct *** has been unclear whether sdPSC represented a subset of ldPSC,an earlier staging of ldPSC,or a completely separate and distinct entity of its *** associations between sdPSC and IBD have been established with suspicion that concurrent sdPSC-IBD may be a key prognostic factor in determining which patients are at risk of progression to *** is known regarding the discrete circumstances that predisposes some patients with sdPSC to progress to *** has been suspected that progression to large biliary duct involvement subjects this subset of patients to potentially developing lifethreatening *** the authors conducted a thorough review of the published sdPSC literature using Pubmed searches and cross-referencing to compile all accessible studies regarding cohorts of sdPSC patients in order better characterize the subset of sdPSC patients who progress to ldPSC and the associated outcomes.

A Novel Island Detection Methodology for the Realization of Smart Grid

Responding to the problem of increased load demand, progress has been made to develop a new smarter infrastructure, which employs a decentralised approach. This smart decentralised system, termed smart grid, is composed of micro grids which utilise a combination of distributed energy resources (DER). The DERs can either be operated in parallel with the grid or in autonomous condition (intentional-islanding). Operating the DER under intentional islanding condition is seen as the next stage in smart grid’s future development which requires intelligent control implementation. In order to utilise this intelligent control, immediate detection of islanding is essential. This paper proposes a new smarter islanding detection method, which implements the forecast capability of smart grid by detecting the fluctuations before islanding occurs. The proposed method has been tested in simulation and compared against the current islanding detection methods. The simulation results have successfully proven the benefits of the new proposed method over the current methodologies in island detection.
