Pyrite Formation in Organic-rich Clay, Calcitic and Coal-Forming Environments

The early diagenetic characteristics of pyrite formation processes in a Miocene freshwater sequence of mixed sediments （coal fragments in clays, sandstones or shales） alternating with continuous brown coal layers was investigated. Based on abundant minerals, the following main sedimentary environments were distinguished： the illite-montmorillonitic （I-M）, calcitic （Ct） and coal-forming environment （CL）. For these hydrogeochemically differing environments the effects of limiting factors on the pyrite formation process （availability of sulphate and Fe, amount of organic matter and participation of organic sulphur） were assessed by correlation analysis. significant differences in the effects of these limiting factors in the particular environments were observed. These differences were explained taking in account the different oxidative activity, Fe-complex and surface complex forming properties of humic substances in dependence of pH of environment and the abundance of sorptionally active clay minerals. In environments having a relatively low pH and containing clay minerals （I-M- and CL-environments） the oxidative activity of humic substances （Hs） on pyrite precursors was greatly prevented however pyrite formation depended on reactive Fe availability as the consequence of complex formation. On the contrary, in environments with a relatively high pH, as it was the calcitic, the oxidative activity of Hs was greatly enhanced, thus oxidizing the sulfur precursors of pyrite. The oxidation degree of organic matter was probably also a consequence of the differing activity of the humic electron-acceptors.

Wind tunnel testing is experimental support of research and development during the design phase of aircraft and missile projects. The paper presents the developed method of manufacturing management by providing the required quality and accuracy of the wind tunnel models. The price of the wind tunnel model is several hundred thousand dollars and for this reason a manufacturing defect is not allowed. Additionally, any delays in the production process cause delay of testing in the wind tunnel. The costs of the delay are very high, because the wind tunnel laboratory is extremely expensive. All the foregoing is why the issue of the model＇s production is very important. Manufacturing of wind tunnel model within the contracted deadline and the required quality define tasks and objectives of production process management： identification of critical machining operations and activities; minimizing the time of coordinate inspections between cutting operations; identifying the main parameters of quality （shape, position in space, and angular relations）; and material management for all other machining operations that follow. specially developed methods of coordinate metrology are crucial for the management of the manufacturing process. Worldwide used specialized coordinate inspection programs have no option to measure the flaps deflection angles and wing dihedral angle. This paper introduces the originally developed coordinate inspection methods for determining the angular relations between lift and control surfaces. The methods presented in this paper have been confirmed in several international projects. The quality and accuracy of the models for wind tunnel testing are conditio sine qua non.

Biochemical markers for non-invasive assessment of disease stage in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis

AIM: To evaluate different biochemical markers and their ratios in the assessment of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) stages. METHODs: This study included 112 patients with PBC who underwent a complete clinical investigation. We analyzed the correlation (spearman's test) between ten biochemical markers and their ratios with different stages of PBC. The discriminative values were compared using areas under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. REsULTs: The mean age of patients included in the study was 53.88 ± 10.59 years, including 104 females and 8 males. We found a statistically significant correlation between PBC stage and Aspartate aminotransferase (AsT), Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) to platelet ratio (APRI), ALT/platelet count, AsT/ALT, ALT/AsT and ALT/Cholesterol ratios, with the values of spearman's rho of 0.338, 0.476, 0.404, 0.356, 0.351 and 0.325, respectively. The best sensitivity and specificity was shown for AsT/ALT, with an area under ROC of 0.660. CONCLUsION: Biochemical markers and their ratios do correlate with different sensitivity to and specificity of PBC disease stage. The use of biochemical markers and their ratios in clinical evaluation of PBC patients may reduce, but not eliminate, the need for liver biopsy.

Non-Native Insects in Urban and Forest Areas of slovenia and the Introduction of Torymus sinensis with Dryocosmus kuriphilus

We survey non-native insects species in whole territory of slovenia. Data on non-native species were collected in field, and we also used results of projects in which we participated and with overview of literature data in scientific pub-lications. Correspondence Analysis (CA) of data was carried out with the soft-ware statgraphics Centaurion XVI, U.s.A. Up to 254 non-native insect species are present: around 83% are phytophagous (43% feed on woody plants, 40% on other plants);around 12% are non-phytophagous;and 5% are parasitoids or predators of other insects or mammals. Among the phytophagous species, Hemiptera predominates (with 38.2%), followed by Coleoptera (29.8%) and Lepidoptera (14.5%). Non-native insects that do not feed on plants include Coleoptera (80%), Lepidoptera (6.5%), Hymenoptera (6.5%) and Diptera (6.5%). Most of phytophagous species are associated with introduction of plants on which they are specialists, but some have also shifted from introduced to native plant hosts. 36 non-native phytophagous species (14.17% of all non-native insects) have become harmful plant pests of urban trees and crops. 20 appear on woody plants, but only Dryocosmus kuriphilus, appears in urban forest areas. In the past decades species such as D. kuriphilus, Leptoglossus occidentalis, Xylosandrus germanus, Gnathotrichus materiarius, Dasineura gledichiae, Phyllonorycter issikii, Cinara curvipes, Ophiomyia kwansonis have been recorded in parks and forests. some non-native species are spreading in slovenian urban forests and affect economic, ecological and other forest and urban forest functions. The number of harmful insects in forests is extremely small probably due to high diversity of the forest ecosystem, where close-to-nature forest management is practiced, which retains forest’s self-regulatory ability to control pests. such management enables for example the reduction of D. kuriphilus with expansion of its parasitoid, Torymus sinensis. Validation of the chronic liver disease questionnaire in serbian patients

AIM:To translate into serbian and to investigate the validity of the cross-culturally adapted the chronic liver disease questionnaire(CLDQ).METHODs:The questionnaire was validated in 103 consecutive CLD patients treated between October 2009 and October 2010 at the Clinic for Gastroenterology,Clinical Centre of serbia,Belgrade(serbia).Exclusion criteria were:age s,psychiatric disorders,acute complications of CLD(acute liver failure,variceal bleeding,and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis),hepatic encephalopathy(grade > 2)and liver *** of the CLDQ was done based on the following parameters:(1)acceptance is shown by the proportion of missing items;(2)internal reliabilities were assessed for multiple item scales by using Cronbach alpha coefficient;and(3)in order to assess whether the allocation of items in the domain corresponds to their distribution in the original questionnaire(construction validity),an exploratory factor analysis was *** validity was determined by comparing the corresponding CLDQ score/sub-score in patients with different severity of the ***:The serbian version of CLDQ questionnaire completed 98% *** of missing items was 0.06%.The total time needed to fill the questionnaire was ranged from 8 to 15 *** in completing the questionnaire required 4.8% patients,while 2.9% needed help in reading,and 1.9% involved writing *** mean age of the selected patients was 53.8 ± 12.9 years and 54.4% were *** CLDQ score was 4.62 ± ***'s alpha for the whole scale was *** for all domains was above 0.70,except for the domain "Activity"(0.49).The exploratory factor analysis model revealed 6 factors with eigenvalue of greater than 1,explaining 69.7% of cumulative *** majority of the items(66%)in the serbian version of the CLDQ presented the highest loading weight in the domain assigned by the CLDQ developers:"Fatigue"(5/5),"Emotiona
