The effect of the tilt angle on mixed convection and related heat transfer in a“T”shaped double enclosure with four heated obstacles on the bottom surface is numerically *** considered obstacles are constantly kept at a relatively high(fixed)temperature,while the cavity’s upper wall is *** finite volume approach is used to solve the mass,momentum,and energy equations with the SIMPLEC algorithm being exploited to deal with the pressure-velocity *** is put on the influence of the tilt angle on the solution symmetry,flow structure,and heat exchange through the *** following parameters and related ranges are considered:Rayleigh number 104≤Ra≤5.105,tilt angle 0°≤φ≤90°,Reynolds number 100≤Re≤1000,Prandtl number Pr=0.72,block height B=0.5,opening width C=0.15,and distance between blocks D=*** results reveal different branches of solutions on varying Re andφ.They also show that the symmetry of the solution regarding the P_(2)axis is retained for all cases with no tilt and for values of Re between 100 and 1000.

In the last two decades,the exploitation of marine renewable energies(70%of the globe is made up of oceans),especially wave energy,has attracted great interest,not only for their high potential,but also for their high energy *** development of wave energy is suitable for countries or regions with extensive coastline and high waves approaching the *** paper focuses on the study of wave potential and wave energy distribution in the Casablanca-Mohammedia nearshore area(Moroccan Atlantic coast)in order to identify prospective wave energy *** achieve this purpose,the offshore wave potential was firstly estimated from a 20 years wave data provided by ECMWF(European Center for Medium range Weather Forecasts).In the second step,a numerical modeling of the wave propagation in the study area was performed using the SWAN model jointly with *** performance of the model to simulate accurately the wave field was evaluated in a real situation characterized by large *** model then was applied to determine the patterns of wave field in the Casablanca-Mohammedia nearshore area for a typical wave conditions(winter,summer and storm).The results of this study show the abundance of wave energy in the region with an average annual wave potential of about 22 kW/m.A seasonal variability of the wave resource was demonstrated,with values five times higher in winter than in *** addition,a major hotspot site was identified that should be considered when studyingWEC *** hotspot is located at the southern edge of the Casablanca-Mohammedia coast,near the coastal area of Sidi Rahal.

Creating sustainable cities is the only way to live in a clean environment,and this problem can be solved by using bio-sourced and recycled *** this purpose,the authors contribute to the valuation of sheep wool waste as an eco-friendly material to be used in *** paper investigates the thermal,hygrothermal,and biological aspects of sheep wool by testing a traditional *** biological method of aerobic mesophilicﬂora has been *** X was used to determine the chemical composition of the materials ***,thermal characterization has been *** thermal conductivity is above 0.046(W·m^(-1)·K^(-1))and the thermal diffusivity is 1.56.10^(-6) m^(2)·s^(-1).Besides,the energy efﬁciency of using sheep wool in buildings was ***,its humidity behavior was evaluated in different aspects in both winter and *** of biological analyses show the efﬁciency of the treatment by removing the majority of the microorgan-isms:the value of yeast and mildew was reduced from 38.10^(2) to 2.10^(2)(UFC·g^(-1)).In addition to that,sheep wool permits obtaining a low thermal transmittance on the scale of the walls and low cooling needs on the scale of the building with a gain of 45%and 52%,respectively.

The development of bio-sourced materials is essential to ensuring sustainable construction;it is considered a locomotive of the green ***,it is an abundant material in our country,to which very little attention is being *** work aims to valorize the waste of the trunks of banana trees to be used in ***,the physicochemical properties of the fiber,such as the percentage of crystallization and its morphology,have been determined by X-ray diffraction tests and scanning electron microscopy to confirm the potential and the impact of the mode of drying on the quality of the banana fibers,with the purpose to promote the use of this material in ***,the results obtained with the gypsum matrix allowed us to note a preponderant improvement in the composite’s thermal properties thanks to the variation of the banana fiber ***,the impact of the nature of the banana fiber distribution(either fiber mixed in matrix or fiber series model)on the flexural and compressive strengths of the composites was *** results obtained indicate that the insulation gain reaches up to 40%.It depends on the volume fraction and type of distribution of the banana ***,the thermal inertia of the composites developed,represented by thermal diffusivity and thermal effusivity,was *** indicate a gain of 40%and 25%,respectively,in terms of thermal diffusivity and thermal effusivity of the developed composites compared to plaster *** the mechanical properties,the flexural strength depends on the percentage of the volume fraction of banana fibers used,and it can reach 20%more than the flexural strength of plaster;nevertheless,there is a significant loss in terms of the compressive strength of the studied *** results obtained are confirmed by the microstructure of the fiber *** fact,the morphology of the banana fibers was improved by the drying *** reduces the amorphous area an

Nowadays,materials with a limited impact on the environment are required in the construction *** the interesting properties of natural elements such as natural fibers,it seems advantageous to use them to reinforce materials while protecting the environment and guaranteeing economic *** these lines,this research was devoted to studying the effect of untreated natural fibers extracted from the Juncus maritimus plant(from Southern Morocco)on ***,the effect of the percentage of added fibers on the fluidity of the plaster was evaluated by means of the Marsh’s cone method,that is,by measuring the time taken by a known volume of plaster to flow from a cone through a short ***,the highly porous microstructure of the plaster was observed using a scanning electron microscope(SEM).The diffractogram of Juncus maritimus fibers was built by means of a X-ray diffraction(XRD)*** values obtained for the wet thermal conductivity of the composites decreased from 0.4853 W/m.K for the reference specimen to 0.4324 W/m K for a fiber volume content of 40%.The densities were calculated to determine the lightness of each *** mechanical strengths[flexural and compressive]were evaluated for different percentages of rush *** addition of 20%volume fiber was found to improve the flexural strength to 3.63 MPa compared to the sample without fiber(3.36 MPa),thereby ensuring good toughness of the considered ***,a reduction in compressive strength was observed,due to the poor adhesion between the fibers and the plaster matrix.

In this paper, a study of homogenous dielectric barrier discharge Ar–NHwas made in order to investigate the electrical and the physical characteristics of homogenous discharge at atmospheric pressure. The discharge model includes the electrical module and the chemical kinetic module. The results obtained by the present model were compared with experimental work. The evolution of the plasmas voltage, the species densities, and the concentration of charged species are analyzed and discussed.

Northwestern Morocco is undergoing a sudden change in the level of infrastructure growth and pressure on the environment from increased *** ongoing changes are raising questions about how the ecosystem will react,and the relevant drivers of these *** Oued Laou valley in north-west Morocco hosts high landscape,species and human cultural *** Talassemtane National Park has been established to preserve the envi-ronment in this region;however,what information tools are available to children regarding this environment?The ecosystem is illustrated here using three components:herpetofauna(representing ecosystem components),prob-lems related to water quantity and quality(representing interactions within ecosystem components)and Talassemtane National Park(representing a case of ecosystem management).A children’s book was written on this topic,and when the book was delivered to pupils,a questionnaire was included,aimed at determining their sources of environ-mental *** results identified major changes in the sources of information utilized by children in this part of Morocco,a clear role of schools in explaining ecosystem components,and an increasing role of TV in environmental information *** role of the family was found to be less important than TV or *** major source of pupils’environmental knowledge is personal observation and hands-on experience,both for rural and urban *** are willing to discover and understand complex systems,and researchers should be encouraged to supply children with correct and up-to-date information on environmental systems,focusing at first on the local environment,as a background for sustainable development.

Using NWP to Assess the Influence of the Arctic Atmosphere on Midlatitude Weather and Climate

The influence of the Arctic atmosphere on Northern Hemisphere midlatitude tropospheric weather and climate is explored by comparing the skill of two sets of 14-day weather forecast experiments using the ECMWF model with and without relaxation of the Arctic atmosphere towards ERA-Interim reanalysis data during the integration. Two pathways are identified along which the Arctic influences midlatitude weather: a pronounced one over Asia and Eastern Europe, and a secondary one over North America. In general, linkages are found to be strongest(weakest) during boreal winter(summer) when the amplitude of stationary planetary waves over the Northern Hemisphere is strongest(weakest). No discernible Arctic impact is found over the North Atlantic and North Pacific region, which is consistent with predominantly southwesterly flow. An analysis of the flow-dependence of the linkages shows that anomalous northerly flow conditions increase the Arctic influence on midlatitude weather over the continents. Specifically, an anomalous northerly flow from the Kara Sea towards West Asia leads to cold surface temperature anomalies not only over West Asia but also over Eastern and Central Europe. Finally, the results of this study are discussed in the light of potential midlatitude benefits of improved Arctic prediction capabilities.

Bio-based materials are of great interest owing to their abundance and the immense potential they display as an ideal alternative to widely used industrial construction materials(that directly and indirectly harm the environment).In this scope,an in-depth experimental study is presented here on clay-based materials aimed to enhance their properties through the addition of other bio-based components such as fibers,in the present case alfa *** thermal conductivity and mechanical properties(compressive and flexural tensile strengths)of the composite clay-alfa material are analyzed with the percentage of alfa fiber in the matrix ranging from 0%to 4%.It is concluded that a percentage of alfa fibers between 1%and 2%is the most effective to get the required optimization of thermal and mechanical behavior of this bio-based material.
