In this work, we studied the catalytic activity of LaMnO3 and(La0.8A0.2)MnO3(A = Sr, K) perovskite catalysts for oxidation of NO and C10H22 and selective reduction of NO by C10H22. The catalytic per‐formances of these perovskites were compared with that of a 2 wt% Pt/SiO2 catalyst. The La site substitution increased the catalytic properties for NO or C10H22 oxidation compared with the non‐substituted LaMnO3 sample. For the most efficient perovskite catalyst,(La0.8Sr0.2)MnO3, the results showed the presence of two temperature domains for NO adsorption:(1) a domain corre‐sponding to weakly adsorbed NO, desorbing at temperatures lower than 270 °C and(2) a second domain corresponding to NO adsorbed on the surface as nitrate species, desorbing at temperatures higher than 330 °C. For the Sr‐substituted perovskite, the maximum NO2 yield of 80% was observed in the intermediate temperature domain (around 285 °C). In the reactant mixture of NO/C10H22/O2/H2O/He,(La0.8Sr0.2)MnO3 perovskite showed better performance than the 2 wt% Pt/SiO2 catalyst: NO2 yields reaching 50% and 36% at 290 and 370 °C, respectively. This activity improvement was found to be because of atomic scale interactions between the A and B active sites, Sr2+ cation and Mn4+/Mn3+ redox couple. Thus,(La0.8Sr0.2)MnO3 perovskite could be an alternative free noble metal catalyst for exhaust gas after treatment.

A photochemical model of the atmosphere constitutes a non-linear, non-autonomous dynamical system, enforced by the Earth＇s rotation. Some studies have shown that the region of the mesopause tends towards non-linear responses such as period-doubling cascades and chaos. In these studies, simple approximations for the diurnal variations of the photolysis rates are assumed. The goal of this article is to investigate what happens if the more realistic, calculated photolysis rates are introduced. It is found that, if the usual approximations-sinusoidal and step fiunctions—are assumed, the responses of the system axe similar： it converges to a 2-day periodic solution. If the more realistic, calculated diurnal cycle is introduced, a new 4-day subharmonic appear.

A brief morphometric study of the recent planktonic foraminifera in the eastern Indian Ocean was provided with the taxonomic key to species, synonyms, SEM microphotographs of shells and chamber arrays. By recent classification, currently 20 species representing 13 genera and 6 families （Canderinidae, Heterohelicoidae, Hedbergellidae, Higerigerinoidae, Globigerinoidae, and Globorotaloidae） identified from the planktonic material of the eastern Indian Ocean up to a depth of 200 m. Their distribution in water （0-200 m） also reports on the new range of expansion in the eastern Indian Ocean, with Dentigloborotalia anfracta, Hastigerina pelagica, Streptochilus globigerus, Globigerinella calida, Globigerinella adamsi, Orcadia reidelii, Tenuitella parkerae, Tenuitella compressa, reported for the first time in this study area. In general, only around 50 planktonic species are valid worldwide, more specifically the species, e.g., H. pelagica, G. calida, G. adamsi, S. globigerus, O. riedeli, T. parkerae, T. compressa, which occur in the eastern Indian Ocean to fill the the paucity of the recent regional taxonomic literature and the problematic identification from the eastern Indian Ocean. This work aims to bridge this gap and help scientists, managers, educators and students to identify plankton foraminifers by using species notes and images.

Epipont peritrich ciliates are one of the most sessilie protists that attached to the substrate of zooplankton communities especially copepods and crustaceans. Peritrich ciliates can be solitary or colonial form found from the coastal zones and embayment around the world. Present research report is the first snapshot study of the peritrich ciliates and the horizontal distribution in open waters from surface to 200 m depth in the eastern Indian Ocean. Recently, five peritrich ciliates, e.g., Vorticella oceanica, Zootharnnium alternans, Z. alrasheidi, Z. pelagicum, and Z. marinum were collected from plankton net tow samples during the cruise from April 10 to May 13, 2014. The characteristics of the peritrich ciliate were determined according to the shape of the zooids, the ciliary structure and the stalks. The morphometric shape, sizes and characters also explained by examination under light/scanning electron microscopy. Vorticella oceanica and Z. pelagicum showed their association with host such as diatom （i.e, Chaetoceros coarctatus） and copepod （Oithona brevicornis） including some individuals around the dinoflagellate species （Ceraitum tripose）. The distribution of these sessilid ciliates was dominated by the V. oceanica, Z. pelagicum and Z. rnarinurn at the southeast zone while the large colonies of Z. alrasheidi observed at the Bay of Bengal. This distribution can be influenced by substrate availability like diatom （Ch. coarctatus） and copepods （O. brevicornis）.

Probing the potential of polyester for CO_2 capture

Global warming, the major environmental issue confronted by humanity today, is caused by rising level of green house gases. Carbon capture and storage technologies offer potential for tapering CO2 emission in the atmosphere. Adsorption is believed to be a promising technology for CO2 capture. For this purpose, a polyester was synthesized by polycondensation of1,3,5-benzenetricarbonyl trichloride and cyanuric acid in pyridine and dichloromethane mixture. The polymer was then characterized using FT-IR, TGA, BET surface area and pore size analysis, FESEM and CO2 adsorption measurements. The CO2 adsorption capacities of the polyester were evaluated at a pressure of 1 bar and two different temperatures（273 and 298 K）.The performance of these materials to adsorb CO2 at atmospheric pressure was measured by optimum CO2 uptake of 0.244 mmol/g at 273 K. The synthesized polyester, therefore, has the potential to be exploited as CO2 adsorbent in pre-combustion capture process.

The developable surface is an important surface in computer aided design, geometric modeling and industrial manufactory. It is often given in the standard parametric form, but it can also be in the implicit form which is commonly used in algebraic geometry. Not all algebraic developable surfaces have rational parametrizations. In this paper, the authors focus on the rational developable surfaces. For a given algebraic surface, the authors first determine whether it is developable by geometric inspection, and then give a rational proper parametrization in the affrmative case. For a rational parametric surface, the authors also determine the developability and give a proper reparametrization for the developable surface.

Aims We compared vein and stomatal traits of seedlings and adults of three Mediterranean Quercus *** work suggests that gas-exchange rates tend to be higher at the seedling stage than in *** objective was to determine whether vein and stomatal traits vary throughout whole-plant ontogeny in parallel with the changes in gas-exchange *** addressed the following alternative hypotheses:hypothesis 1—seedlings show higher vein and stomatal densities than adults;and hypothesis 2—seedlings have lower investments in vascular tissues to reduce construction *** Ten specimens from each growth stage were randomly sampled for each species in a location in central-western *** measured mean stomatal and vein traits(size and number of stomata per unit of leaf area,vein density,vein volume,vein to epidermis distance),leaf mass per area and lamina *** Findings Minor vein density and vein volume per area increased with tree age,which seems inconsistent with the ontogenetic trends in gas-exchange *** discrepancy is in support of our hypothesis 2,and it suggests that,at the seedling stage,reducing investments in vascular tissues in benefit of maximizing growth rates is a *** interveinal distances in seedlings were compensated by smaller vein to epidermis *** thin leaves of the seedlings may thus constitute as a necessary trait for achieving shorter path length distances for the transport of water to evaporation sites without the need for a strong investment in costly vascular tissues.

In this paper we pursue the study of the best approximation operator extended from L~Φ to L~φ, where φ denotes the derivative of the function Φ. We get pointwise convergence for the coefficients of the extended best approximation polynomials for a wide class of function f, closely related to the Calder′on–Zygmund class t_m^p(x) which had been introduced in 1961. We also obtain weak and strong type inequalities for a maximal operator related to the extended best polynomial approximation and a norm convergence result for the coefficients is derived. In most of these results, we have to consider Matuszewska–Orlicz indices for the function φ.
