Hydrophobic islands/patterns on a hydrophilic substrate could be employed to enhance boiling heat transfer,however the underlying mechanisms are far from *** perform boiling experiments on a copper wire coated with superhydrophobic micropatterns(contact angle>170°).The copper wire is as fine as 150μm in diameter,greatly facilitating the observation of the bubble dynamic *** the heat flux increasing,four regimes are characterized based on the bubble *** superhydrophobic micropatterns are found to play critical roles in bubble formation and distribution as well as the interactions.

Baculovirus has many advantages as vectors for gene *** demonstrated that recombinant baculovirus vectors expressing p35(Ac-CMV-p35) and eGFP(Ac-CMV-GFP) could be transduced into human kidney 293 cells *** level of transgene expression was viral dose dependent and high-level expression of the target gene could be achieved under the heterogonous *** assay suggested that both Ac-CMV-p35 and Ac-CMV-GFP did not have cytotoxic effect on human embryo kidney 293 *** growth curve showed the Ac-CMV-p35 and Ac-CMV-GFP transduced and non-transduced cells had similar proliferation rate,so baculovirus-mediated p35 expression had no adverse effect on cell *** addition,baculovirus-mediated p35 gene expression protected human embryo kidney 293 cells against apoptosis induced by various apoptosis inducers such as Actinomycin D,UV or serum-free *** results suggested that the baculovirus vector mediated p35 gene expression was functional and it could be widely used in molecular research and even gene therapy.

Elastomer sealing performance is of critical importance for downhole tools application including the use of fracturing(Frac)plugs during multi-stage hydraulic *** practice sealing performances of such plugs are normally evaluated through pressure tests,and in numerical simulation studies,maximum contact stress,average contact stress and contact length data are used to determine sealing quality between a packer and *** previous studies,the impact of friction forces on sealing performance is often *** work aims to fill this knowledge gap in determining the influence of friction forces on elastomer packer sealing *** first determined the most appropriate constitutive hyperelastic model for the elastomers used in frac *** we compared analytical calculation results with Finite Element Analysis simulation using a simplified tubular geometry and showed the significant influences on interfacial friction on elastomer packer stress distribution,deformation,and contact stress after *** the demonstration of validity of FEA method,we conducted systematic numerical simulation studies to show how the interfacial friction coefficients can affect the maximum contact stress,average contact stress,contact stress distribution,and maximum mises stress for an actual packer used in plug *** addition,we also demonstrated how the groove in a packer can affect packer deformation and evolvement during setting with the consideration of interfacial *** study underscores the critical role that friction forces play in Frac plug performance and provides a new dimension for optimizing packer design by controlling interfacial interactions at the packer contact surfaces.

The as-cast amorphous Ti_(48)Zr_(27)Cu_(6)Nb_(5)Be_(14)composites,comprising in situ formedβ-Ti ductile crystalline precipitates,were prepared by water cooled copper mold suction ***,the semi-solid composites were obtained after the as-cast composites were treated by semi-solid isothermal *** microstructure evolution and kinetics of the composites were *** show that the microstructures of both the as-cast and semi-solid composites comprise ofβ-Ti crystal phases and amorphous matrix *** and after treatment,the crystals evolve from fine granular or fine dendritic crystals to coarse *** the treatment temperature increasing or the time prolonging,the average crystal size gradually increases and the surface morphology of the crystals gradually becomes *** studying the microstructural evolution and dynamics during the isothermal treatment process,it is found that the final morphology ofβ-Ti crystals is influenced by the isothermal treatment temperature and time(t),and theβ-Ti evolution rate increases with an increase in treatment *** addition,a linear relationship was observed between the size of cubicβ-Ti crystals(D^(3))and t;the growth kinetics factor K is 3.8μm^(3)·s^(-1).As the K value closes to 4μm^(3)·s^(-1),it is inferred the morphology evolution ofβ-Ti crystals is a coarsening behavior controlled by the diffusion of solute elements.

Magnetic skyrmions emerge when the energy of ferromagnetic exchange interaction promoting parallel alignment of spins enters in competition with energies favoring non-collinear alignment of spins such as Dzy aloshinskii-Moriya interaction(DMI),long-rang dipole-dipole interaction(DDI),or higher-order exchange *** perform an unbiased Monte Carlo simulation to study the DMI-based skyrmion nucleation and stabilization on the surface of magnetic nanotubular monolayer controlled by tuning constants of DDI(g) and next-nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic exchange interaction(j') with appropriate *** g and j',the loosely distributed skyrmions initially nucleate on the surface of nanotube approaching to the magnetic field(h) direction with increasing h in the intermediate ***,the skyrmion size,shape,density,distribution and crystal structure,as well as its driven field range,are tailored by g and j'.This work demonstrates the skyrmion nucleation mechanisms in three-dimensional magnetic nanostructures with curvature effect and multiple interactions,serving as a benchmark for a guide to experimentalists for preparation of samples in magnetic skyrmion states.
