The effect of sonication pretreatment condition on Eucheuma cottonii and Gelidium amansii seaweed towards agar extraction wae *** parameters were changed during sonication to investigate the effects on agar yield and *** parameters include the time interval,concentration ratio,frequency,and *** highest amount of agar extracted from Eucheuma cottonii species could be obtained from the time interval of 30min,seaweed weight to solvent volume ratio of 1:20,the frequency of 35Hz,and the sonication power intensity of 30%.For Gelidium amansii species,the best agar yield also could be obtained from the time interval of 30 min,1:20 of seaweed weight to water volume ratio,the frequency of 35Hz,and power intensity of 30%.From the experiment,sonication pretreatment signifi cantly influenced the yield and properties of extracted *** sonication with autoclaved seaweed produced agar containing less sulfate content,which is an excellent chemical property for gel electrophoresis *** gelstrength of sonication with autoclaving for both seaweeds,Eucheuma and Gelidium species was the highest among those by sonication with direct heating,which proved that sonication pretreatment with autoclaving could enhance the physical properties of the agar.

The effectiveness of the logic mining approach is strongly correlated to the quality of the induced logical representation that represent the behaviour of the ***,the optimum induced logical representation indicates the capability of the logic mining approach in generalizing the real datasets of different variants and *** main issues with the logic extracted by the standard logic mining techniques are lack of interpretability and the weakness in terms of the structural and arrangement of the 2 Satisfiability logic causing lower *** address the issues,the logical permutation serves as an alternative mechanism that can enhance the probability of the 2 Satisfiability logical rule becoming true by utilizing the definitive finite arrangement of *** work aims to examine and analyze the significant effect of logical permutation on the performance of data extraction ability of the logic mining approach incorporated with the recurrent discrete Hopfield Neural *** on the theory,the effect of permutation and associate memories in recurrent Hopfield Neural Network will potentially improve the accuracy of the existing logic mining *** validate the impact of the logical permutation on the retrieval phase of the logic mining model,the proposed work is experimentally tested on a different class of the benchmark real datasets ranging from the multivariate and timeseries *** experimental results show the significant improvement in the proposed logical permutation-based logic mining according to the domains such as compatibility,accuracy,and competitiveness as opposed to the plethora of standard 2 Satisfiability Reverse Analysis methods.

Effects of Tualang honey in modulating nociceptive responses at the spinal cord in offspring of prenatally stressed rats

Objective: This study was done to determine whether Tualang honey could prevent the altered nociceptive behaviour, with its associated changes of oxidative stress markers and morphology of the spinal cord,among the offspring of prenatally stressed ***: Pregnant rats were divided into three groups: control, stress, and stress treated with Tualang honey. The stress and stress treated with Tualang honey groups were subjected to restraint stress from day 11 of pregnancy until delivery. Ten week old male offspring(n = 9 from each group) were given formalin injection and their nociceptive behaviours were recorded. After 2 h, the rats were sacrificed, and their spinal cords were removed to assess oxidative stress activity and morphology. Nociceptive behaviour was analysed using repeated measures analysis of variance(ANOVA), while the levels of oxidative stress parameters and number of Nissl-stained neurons were analysed using a one-way ***: This study demonstrated that prenatal stress was associated with increased nociceptive behaviour, changes in the oxidative stress parameters and morphology of the spinal cord of offspring exposed to prenatal stress; administration of Tualang honey reduced the alteration of these ***: This study provides a preliminary understanding of the beneficial effects of Tualang honey against the changes in oxidative stress and neuronal damage in the spinal cord of the offspring of prenatally stressed rats.

BACKGROUND The demand for the development of cancer nanomedicine has increased due to its great therapeutic value that can overcome the limitations of conventional cancer ***,the presence of various bioactive compounds in crude plant extracts used for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)makes its precise mechanisms of action *** To assessed the mRNA transcriptome profiling of human HepG2 cells exposed to Catharanthus roseus ***(***)-*** The proliferative activity of hepatocellular carcinoma(HepG2)and normal human liver(THLE3)cells treated with *** were measured using MTT *** RNA samples were extracted and sequenced using BGIseq500 *** is followed by data filtering,mapping,gene expression analysis,differentially expression genes analysis,Gene Ontology analysis,and pathway *** The mean IC 50 values of *** on HepG2 was 4.38±1.59μg/mL while on THLE3 cells was 800±1.55μg/*** profiling revealed an alteration of 296 *** induced the expression of stress-associated genes such as MT,HSP and *** signalling pathways were potentially activated through MAPK,TNF and TGF pathways that are responsible for apoptosis and cell cycle *** alteration of ARF6,EHD2,FGFR3,RhoA,EEA1,VPS28,VPS25,and TSG101 indicated the uptake of ***-AgNPs via both clathrin-dependent and clathrinindependent *** This study provides new insights into gene expression study of biosynthesised AgNPs on cancer *** cytotoxicity effect is mediated by the aberrant gene alteration,and more interestingly the unique selective antiproliferative properties indicate the *** as an ideal anticancer candidate.

Background:Edible bird nest(EBN)is a natural food product rich in glycoprotein such as sialic acid,which has been reported to improve brain *** EBN is widely consumed due to its higher nutritional contents and antioxidant status;however,an interaction of EBN on brain cell metabolic activity and viability are still ***:The objectives of this study were to identify the effect of sialic acid from EBN on the cell viability and to determine the appropriate concentration of sialic acid on cognitive performance in *** and Methods:The viability of pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma cell lines were tested using the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide *** in vivo study,7-week-old female BALB/c mice were randomly assigned into four treatment groups and were treated with sialic acid for 21 *** day 22,all mice were tested on cognitive performance by Y-maze ***:Treatment concentration of sialic acid extract and sialic acid standard at 60μg/mL(0.6 ppm)increased cell viability and showed no cytotoxicity effects in pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma cell *** addition,an administration of higher dose of sialic acid at 0.6 ppm in animals improved Y-maze test performance,which they showed significantly higher number of entries and time spent in the novel ***:Thus,the current study shows that the sialic acid extract at 0.6 ppm improved brain cognitive performance in mice associated with an increased viability of pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma cell lines.

In vitro study of natural plant products against oral bacteria

There was significant difference among the MIC of garlic on tested *** was more potent toward ***. The curry leaf solution on the other hand,did not show any zone of inhibition in all bacteria plates but adversely showed enhanced growth of those *** had shown its antibacterial effects on *** and *** clove was more potent toward *** with the MIC of 0.45 g/*** was more sensitive to clove compared to *** ***,it was more sensitive to garlic compared to clove. Conclusion:The antibacterial activity of garlic and clove crude extracts shown in our study further confirm these natural plants’potential usage in therapeutic use for oral diseases or *** could be the platform for the interested party to do research and development on it and to produce oral health products which are more affordable for lower economic income groups and with fewer side effects as seen in synthetic drug.

Taman Saujana Hijau(TSH),Putrajaya is a 41-ha urban park planted with various coniferous species from around the *** pests and disease incidences of this park are unknown and there is a need for an evaluation of the health status of this urban *** study assessed the level of pest and disease incidents of coniferous species in 12 plots of 7 species(Araucaria bidwilii,Araucaria haterophylla,Araucaria cunninghamii,Pinus caribaea,Pinus merkusii,Podocarpus polystachyus,and Podocarpus costalis).Termites,canker disease,and foliar disease are three major *** highest pest and disease incidence(PnDI)was foliar disease with a 0.49 coefficient correlation between the total number of trees and the PnDI,followed by canker disease with 0.40,and termites with *** the seven conifers,*** was the most infected followed by *** and *** was concluded that the incidence of pests and diseases in TSH was *** our knowledge,this may be the first baseline inventory of pests and diseases of coniferous species in Malaysia.

A literature review on the improvement strategies of passive design for the roofing system of the modern house in a hot and humid climate region

Increase of indoor temperature compared with outdoor temperature is a major concern in modern house design. Occupants suffer from this uncomfortable condition because of overheating indoor temperature. Poor passive design causes heat to be trapped, which influences the rise in indoor temperature. The upper part, which covers the area of the roof, is the most critical part of the house that is exposed to heat caused by high solar radiation and high emissivity levels. During daytime, the roof accumulates heat, which increases the indoor temperature and affects the comfort level of the occupants. To maintain the indoor temperature within the comfort level, most house designs usually depend on mechanical means by using fans or air conditioning systems. The dependence on a mechanical ventilation system could lead to additional costs for its installation, operation, and maintenance. Thus, this study concentrates on reviews on passive design and suggests recommendations for future developments. New proposals or strategies are proposed to improve the current passive design through ventilated and cool roof systems. It is possible to achieve the comfort level inside a house throughout the day by reducing the transmitted heat into the indoor environment and eliminating the internal hot air. These recommendations could become attractive strategies in providing a comfortable indoor temperature to the occupants as well as in minimizing energy consumption.

Athens in Crisis, Sustainable Mobility and Climate Change

Athens, a metropolis characterized by agglutination and compactness, but at the same time facing numerous urban and transport issues, saw its population swell during the 20th century which led to extensive urbanization phenomena. This continued urbanization increases profoundly all urban activities with transportation being the key driver in energy consumption. Theories for sustainable cities prerequisite are the integration of a number of acts in order to reduce energy consumption, with mobility being the first consideration among others. The aim of this paper is to critically explore implemented policies and plans as well as forthcoming strategic plans in terms of sustainable mobility as imposed in large scale regeneration plans in contemporary Athens. Research focuses on strategic interventions since the 1980s, such as the Athenian Daktylios （ring road for circulation management） and its later adjustments, the upcoming pedestrianization and unification of the commercial triangle and its subsequent tram line extension as well as the notable implementation of the metropolitan cycling network. Moreover, the discussion takes into consideration the implications of the Greek economic crisis in mobility choices, as aimless travels have been reduced to a minimum, several cars have been abandoned and cyclists seem to tentatively claim some space in the urban environment. What will likely be the next day in the Athenian historic centre？ Considering the transformations that are expected in the immediate future, this research paper explores their potential to enhance urban environment, reduce climate change impacts and amplify resilience.

TOXICITY OF TWO HERBICIDES 2,4-D DIMETHYLAMINE AND BENSULFURON METHYL TO RICE FIELD CHIRONOMUS KIIENSIS (TOKUNAGA) (DIPTERA:CHIRONOMIDAE)

Fourth instar larvae of Chironomus kiiensis (Tokunaga) were exposed to various concentrations of two commonly used herbicides: 2,4 - D Dimethylamine and Bensulfuron methyl in the rice fields. The bioassay experiment was carried out in a rearing unit in the laboratory at a room temperature ((27 ±2) °C). A thin layer of sand sediments and tissue papers were provided as substrate in each unit. Each concentration of all herbicides was prepared in 250 mL distilled water. The experiment was performed in triplicate and 20 chironomid larvae were placed in each rearing unit. The larvae were fed with fish food (Sanyuichiban®) at 2 d intervals and all units were aerated by air pumps. The experiment was monitored every 24 h for mortality of C. kiiensis. The 2,4 - D Dimethylamine bioassay was carried out for 24 h while Bensulfuron methyl was run for 72 h. Dead larvae, pupae and living or dead adults were counted and removed daily. The LC50 of 2,4 - D Dimethylamine was 2 638 mg ai L-1, more than 2 000 times higher than the recommended dose of 0.753 mg ai L-1 used for controlling weeds in the rice field. Bensulfuron methyl was more toxic than the 2,4 - D Dimethylamine. The LC 50 of the Bensulfuron methyl was recorded at 1.29 mg ai L -1, and approximately was more 20 times than that of the recommended dose of 0.057 mg ai L-1. Bensulfuron methyl was found to be slow acting. The mortality of the larvae was only observed after 72 h. However, this herbicide interfered with the emergence of C. kiiensis to adults at and above the recommended dose used in the rice fields. Based on their LC50 values, this study showed that applying these herbicides in the rice fields at doses recommended by the manufacturers was safe for C. kiiensis and presumably to other living organisms in the water.
