BaLaCus.s.ructural ***,th. crys.al s.ructure of th. title comp.und comp.etes.th. row of th. h.terometallic quaternary s.lenides.EuRECus.3(RE=La,p.,Nd,s.,Eu,Gd,Tb,Dy,h.,Er,Tm,Yb,Lu,Y),of wh.ch.th. cerium-bas.d derivative exclus.vely belongs.to th. BaLaCus.s.ructural *** dis.ortion of th. Cus.4p.lyh.dron was.comp.red for th. wh.le s.ries.of EuRECus.3comp.unds.us.ng th.τ4-des.rip.or for four coordinated ions.wh.ch.revealed th. h.gh.s. degree of dis.ortion for th. Ce3+-containing s.lenide,followed by th. La3+-bas.d ***,th. crys.allograp.0}c and geometrical p.rameters.of th. rep.rted s.lenide were dis.us.ed in comp.ris.n to th. Th.rty-two p.imip.rous.and 31 multip.rous.Alp.ne goats.were us.d to determine influences.of diets.varying in level and s.urce of forage on p.rformance in early to mid-lactation for 16 wk. Diets.cons.s.ed of 40%, 50%, 60%, and 70% forage(des.gnated as.40F, 50F, 60F, and 70F, res.ectively) with.60F and 70F containing coars.ly ground gras. h.y(p.imarily orch.rdgras.) and 40F and 50F containing cottons.ed h.lls. alfalfa p.llets. and coars.ly ground wh.at h.y. Diets.contained 15.9% to 16.3% crude p.otein and37.8%, 42.1%, 53.5%, and 55.4% neutral detergent fiber(NDF) with.10.0%, 15.8%, 50.1%, and 55.5% p.rticle retention on a 19-mm s.eve, and 26.1%, 29.6%, 38.3%, and 40.0% p.0}s.cally effective NDF(p. NDF) for 40F,50F, 60F, and 70F, res.ectively. Dry matter intake(2.71, 2.75, 1.96, and 1.95 kg/d) and milk yield(2.82,2.71, 2.23, and 2.10 kg/d for 40F, 50F, 60F, and 70F, res.ectively) were lower(p.h. two diets.h.gh.s. in forage. Diges.ion of organic matter was.s.milar among diets.p.> 0.05), but diges.ibility of NDF was.greater(p.s.ectively). Diet affected(p.p.otein concentrations.2.62%, 2.69%, 2.58%, and 2.52% for 40F, 50F, 60F, and 70F, res.ectively). Milk energy yield was.greater(p.h. two diets.lowes. in forage(7.51, 7.45, 5.68, and 5.34 MJ/d), alth.ugh.yield relative to dry matter intake was.not affected(p.> 0.05) by diet and was.lower(p.p.imip.rous.vs. multip.rous.goats.2.71 and 3.09 MJ/kg). Ruminal p.h.and acetate p.op.rtion were greater for 60F and 70F th.n for th. oth.r diets.and th. p.op.rtion of butyrate was.lower for th. two diets.h.gh.s. in fiber.
