The coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19)pandemic has caused detrimental effects on many aspects of healthcare *** programs for the commonest malignancies,namely colorectal cancer(cRc),breast cancer and cervical cancer have been discontinued or interrupted since the beginning of restriction measures aimed to limit transmission of the new coronavirus *** evidence exists in favour of the role of screening campaigns in reducing mortality from *** fact,the majority of pre-malignant lesions of the colon and rectum can be diagnosed with colonoscopy and treated by endoscopic or surgical ***,colonoscopy screening allows the diagnosis of cRcs in their pre-clinical *** was one of the first European countries where a high level of cOVID-19 infections and deaths was observed,and one of the first where lockdowns and strict measures were adopted to reduce the risk of cOVID-19 diffusion among the population.A systematic review of the literature was performed,including the PubMed,scopus,Web of sciences,and Reference citation Analysis databases,with the aim of critically evaluating the impact of the cOVID-19 pandemic on cRc screening in *** found that reduction of cRc screening activity surpassed 50%in most endoscopic units,with almost 600000 fewer cRc screening exams conducted in the first 5 mo of 2020 vs the same period of *** the consequences of the discontinuation of endoscopy screening for the prognosis and mortality of cRc will be evident in the next few years,recent data confirm that cRc is currently treated at a more advanced stage than in the pre-cOVID-19 *** delays in cRc prevention and early diagnosis may translate to increased cRc-specific mortality,world healthcare systems should adopt strategies to maintain the regularity of cRc screening during subsequent peaks of the cOVID-19 pandemic,or future events that might hamper screening programs.

copper Phytoextraction and Phytostabilization by <i>Brachiaria decumbens</i>stapf. in Vineyard soils and a copper Mining Waste

Brachiaria decumbens is a high biomass plant with great potential for phytoremediation of copper-polluted soils. The current study aimed to evaluate B. decumbens plants for phytoextraction and phytostabilization use in two different copper contaminated vineyard soils and a copper mining waste. Also, the macro and micronutrients uptake were evaluated after plants growth in copper contaminated soils. B. decumbens was cultivated in two vineyard soils (Inceptisol and Mollisol) and a copper mining waste for 47 days of growth in greenhouse. Then, B. decumbens’s nutrient uptake was evaluated, and it’s potential application in phytoremediation techniques for the phytoextraction and phytostabilization of copper contamination. B. decumbens exhibited high levels of biomass production at contaminated soils and no negative effect on macronutrients uptake was found. copper contaminated soils affected micronutrients uptake by Brachiaria plants. This Brachiaria specie showed high potential on copper phytoextraction with accumulation of copper concentrations in the shoots and roots of 70 and 585 mg·kg-1 of dry mass, respectively, in the vineyard Inceptisol soil, after 47 days of growth. Mollisol soil and copper mining waste also exhibited high copper concentration in the biomass in the entire plant with 371 and 466 mg·kg-1, respectively. Although Brachiaria exhibited low levels of translocation factor for copper, this specie showed high potential for copper phytoextraction on Inceptisol, Mollisol and copper mining waste with 1900, 1156 and 1363 g·ha-1 of copper, respectively. Geochemical maps are of great value in mineral *** geochemical anomaly maps provide comprehensive information about mapping assemblages of element concentrations to possible types of mineralization/ore,but vary depending on expert's knowledge and *** paper aims to test the capability of deep neural networks to delineate integrated anomaly based on a case study of the Zhaojikou Pb-Zn deposit,southeast *** hundred fifty two samples were collected,and each sample consisted of 26 variables covering elemental composition,geological,and tectonic *** first,generative adversarial networks were adopted for data ***,DNN was trained on sets of synthetic and real data to identify an integrated ***,the results of DNN analyses were visualized in probability maps and compared with traditional anomaly maps to check its *** showed that the average accuracy of the validation set was 94.76%.The probability maps showed that newly-identified integrated anomalous areas had a probability of above 75%in the northeast *** also showed that DNN models that used big data not only successfully recognized the anomalous areas identified on traditional geochemical element maps,but also discovered new anomalous areas,not picked up by the elemental anomaly maps previously.

suspended particulate mercury associated with tidal fluxes in a lagoon environment impacted by cinnabar mining activity(northern Adriatic sea)

The Isonzo River has been demonstrated to be a continuing point source of mercury（Hg）in the Gulf of Trieste although the Idrija mine was last active in 1996. The present study aims to investigate the role of the suspended particulate matter（sPM） associated with tidal fluxes to disperse particulate Hg（PHg） into the Grado coastal lagoon system. PHg concentrations（avg. 3.11 ± 2.62 μg/g, d.w.）, notwithstanding the ebb or flood tides, were significantly higher than the local sediment background（0.13 μg/g）. The relative affinity of Hg for the particulate phase in surface waters was confirmed by higher average distribution coefficient（Kd） values（5.6–6.7）. PHg contents showed the highest values in ebb tide conditions, thus suggesting their origin from the erosion of tidal flats and saltmarshes of the lagoon. When compared to river discharge, high PHg surface concentrations in flood tide are related to rainfall events occurring within the river basin. Results can be used to make an indicative assessment of the amount of Hg bound to sPM which is transported in and out of the lagoon basin following the action of tidal fluxes. A simple estimation provides a negative budget for the Grado lagoon sub-basin which loses between 0.14 and 1.16 kg of PHg during a tidal semi-cycle. This conclusion is in agreement with the evidence of morphological deterioration which has emerged from recent studies on the lagoon environment, and which testifies to a current sedimentary loss from the lagoon into the northern Adriatic sea.

Tetraphenylethylene-BODIPY aggregation-induced emission luminogens for near-infrared polymer light-emitting diodes

The aggregation-induced emission(AIE) phenomenon provides a new direction for the development of organic light-emitting devices. Here, we present a new class of emitters based on 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3 a,4 a-diaza-s-indacene(BODIPY), functionalized at different positions with tetraphenylethylene(TPE), which is one of the most famous AIE luminogens. Thanks to this modification, we were able to tune the photoluminescence of the BODIPY moiety from the green to the near-infrared(NIR)spectral range and achieve PL efficiencies of ~50% in the solid state. Remarkably, we observed an enhancement of the AIE and up to ~100% photoluminescence efficiencies by blending the TPE-substituted BODIPY fluorophores with a poly[(9,9-di-noctylfluorene-2,7-diyl)-alt-(benzo[2,1,3]thiadiazol-4,7-diyl)](F8 BT) matrix. By incorporating these blends in organic lightemitting diodes(OLEDs), we obtained electroluminescence peaked in the range 650–700 nm with up to 1.8% external quantum efficiency and ~2 m W/cm2 radiance, a remarkable result for red/NIR emitting and solution-processed OLEDs.

cytoreduction and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy in the treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis from pseudomixoma peritonei

AIM： To investigate the most important aspects of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy （HIPEc） that has been accepted as the standard treatment for pseudomyxoma peritonei （PMP）, with special regard to morbidity, overall survival （Os） and disease free survival （DFs） over 10 years. METHODs： Fifty-three patients affected by PMP underwent cytoreduction （ccR） and HIPEc with a ＂semi-closed＂ abdomen technique in our institution. The peritonectomy procedure and completeness of ccR were classified according to sugarbaker criteria. Preoperative evaluation always included thoracic and abdominal cT scan to stage peritoneal disease and exclude distant metastases. Fifty-one patients in our series were treated with a protocol based on administration of cisplatinum 100 mg/m^2 plus mitomycin c 16 mg/m^2, at a temperature of 41.5℃ for 60 min. Anastomoses were always performed at the end of HIPEc. The mean duration of surgery was 12 h including HIPEc. continuous monitoring of hepatic and renal functions and hydroelectrolytic balance was performed in the postoperative period. REsULTs： Twenty-four patients presented with postoperative complications： surgical morbidity was observed in 16 patients and 6 patients were reoperated. All complications were successfully treated and no postoperative deaths were observed. Risk factors for postoperative morbidity were considered to be gender, age, body surface, duration of surgery,Peritoneal cancer Index （PcI） and tumor residual value （cc score）. No statistically significant correlation was found during the multivariate analysis： only the cc score was statistically significant. The Os in our experience was 81.8%, with a DFs of 80% at 5 years and of 70% at 10 years. cONcLUsION： In our experience, even if HIPEc combined with cytoreductive surgery involves a high risk of morbidity, postoperative complications can be resolved favorably in most cases with correct patient selection and adequate postoperative care, thus minimizing mortality. TLR3-dependent immune regulatory functions of human mesangial cells

In glomerulonephritis, the migration of inflammatory cells into the glomerulus is an important step in disease initiation and progression. The viral receptor Toll-like receptor 3 （TLR3） is known to play a role in virus-associated glomerulonephritis. Based on this knowledge, this study aimed to define the effects of the TLR3 ligand polyriboinosinic：polyribocytidylic acid （poly（hc）） on the expression of adhesion molecules and macrophage colony-stimulating factor （M-csF） on resident glomerular cells. Experiments in Mcs demonstrated that the activation of viral receptors by poly（I.c） leads to a time- and dose-dependent induction of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 （IcAM-1）, vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 （VcAM-1） and M-csF at both the mRNA and protein levels; these results were confirmed by incubating Mcs with HcV RNA. As shown in knockdown experiments, this effect is specifically mediated by TLR3. The prestimulation of Mcs with proinfiammatory cytokines increases the effects of poly（hc）, except for its induction of VcAM-I. Tumor-necrosis factor （TNF）-a, likewise, induces IcAM-1, VcAM-1 and M-csF, and amplifies the mesangial response to poly（hc）. These results were confirmed by incubating Mcs with HcV RNA. We thus provide evidence that human Mcs represent a potential target of the leukocytes and monocytes that infiltrate the glomerulus in viral disease-associated GN, highlighting the possibility that Mcs may act as resident antigen-presenting cells.

Development of an HPLc–UV assay method for the simultaneous quantification of nine antiretroviral agents in the plasma of HIV-infected patients

A new method using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with ultra violet detection(HPLc–UV)was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantification of atazanavir,dolutegravir,darunavir,efavirenz,etravirine lopinavir,raltegravir,rilpivirine and tipranavir in human *** the first time we reported here the development and validation of an HPLc–UV assay to quantify the frequently administered 9antiretroviral compounds including dolutegravir and rilpivirine.A simple solid phase extraction procedure was applied to 500 μL aliquots of *** chromatographic separation of the drugs and internal standard(quinoxaline) was achieved with a gradient of acetonitrile and sodium acetate buffer on a c_(18) reverse-phase analytical column with a 25 min analytical run *** curves were optimised according to the therapeutic range of drug concentrations in patients,and the coefficient of determination(r^2) was higher than0.99 for all *** intraday and interday precisions(RsD) for all compounds were less than 15.0%,and the mean accuracy(% deviation from nominal concentration) was also found to be less than 15.0%.Extraction recovery range was between 80% and 120% for all drugs *** solid phase extraction and HPLc–UV method enable a specific,sensitive,and reliable simultaneous determination of nine antiretroviral agents in *** extraction efficiency and low limit of HPLc–UV quantification make this method suitable for use in clinical trials and therapeutic drug monitoring.
