AIM:To report our experience of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIsTs) during the last 29 years. METHODs:Thirty two cases of GIsT referred to our Institution from the 1st January 1981 to the 10th June 2010 were reviewed. Metastases,recurrence and survival data were collected in relation to age,history,clinical presentation,location,size,resection margins and cellular features. REsULTs:Mean age was 63.7 years (range,40-90) and incidence was slightly higher in males (56%). R0 resection was performed in 90.7% of cases,R1 in 6.2% (2 cases) and R2 in 3.1% (one case). Using Fletcher's classification 8/32 (25%) had high risk,9/32 (28%) intermediate and 15/32 (47%) low risk tumors. Follow-up varied from 1 mo to 29 years,with a median of 8 years; overall survival was 75% (24/32),disease-free survival was 72% and tumor-related mortality was 9.3%. Three patients with high risk GIsT were treated with imatinib mesylate:one developed a recurrence after 36 mo,and 2 are free from disease at 41 mo. cONcLUsION:surgical treatment remains the gold standard therapy for resectable GIsTs. Pathological and biological features of the neoplasm represent the most important factors predicting the prognosis.

carbon dioxide （cO2） is the main anthropogenic gas which has drastically increased since the industrial revolution, and current concentrations are projected to double by the end of this century. As a consequence, elevated cO2 is expected to alter the earths＇ climate, increase global temperatures and change weather patterns. This is likely to have both direct and indirect impacts on plants, insect pests, plant pathogens and their distribution, and is therefore problematic for the security of future food production. This review summarizes the latest findings and highlights current knowledge gaps regarding the influence of climate change on insect, plant and pathogen interactions with an emphasis on agriculture and food production. Direct effects of climate change, including increased cO2 concentration, temperature, patterns of rainfall and severe weather events that impact insects （namely vectors of plant pathogens） are discussed. Elevated cO2 and temperature, together with plant pathogen infection, can considerably change plant biochemistry and therefore plant defense responses. This can have substantial consequences on insect fecun- dity, feeding rates, survival, population size, and dispersal. Generally, changes in host plant quality due to elevated cO2 （e.g., carbon to nitrogen ratios in c3 plants） negatively affect insect pests. However, compensatory feeding, increased population size and distribution have also been reported for some agricultural insect pests. This underlines the importance of additional research on more targeted, individual insect-plant scenarios at specific locations to fully understand the impact of a changing climate on insect-plant-pathogen interactions.

In order to better understand the effects of biostimulation and bioaugmentation processes on a marine microbial community, three different mesocosm experiments were planned. Natural seawater（10.000 L） was artificially polluted with crude oil（1 L） and（1） inorganic nutrients（Biostimulating Mesocosm, BM）,（2） inorganic nutrients and an inoculum of Alcanivorax borkumensis sK2（single Bioaugmentation Mesocosm, sBM）,（3） inorganic nutrients and inoculums of A. borkumensis sK2 and Thalassolituus oleivorans MIL-1（consortium Bioaugmentation Mesocosm, cBM）. During the experimental period（20 days）, samples were taken from each mesocosm and the community structure was analyzed by PcR–DGGE. The 16 s r RNA gene DGGE banding patterns and sequence analysis demonstrated that biostimulation had the lowest effect on microbial biodiversity in the mesocosms; however, the biodiversity of the marine microbial community dramatically decreased in the cBM（shannon index was 0.6 in T3）. The community structures among the three mesocosms were also markedly different,and major bacteria derived from DGGE bands were related to uncultured Gamma Proteobacteria. The biodegradation results show that the single Bioaugmentation Mesocosm（sBM） system had the highest percentage of degradation（95%） in comparison to the BM mesocosm（80%） and cBM（70%）.

The primary challenge of mineland revegetation is the establishment of species able to cope with low availability of nutrients,especially in steep slopes such as of mine *** evaluated plant growth response and nutrient use efficiency(NUE)of two promising native Fabaceae species(Dioclea apurensis—liana from metalliferous savannas;Bauhinia longipedicellata—tree from Amazon rainforest)from the caraja´s Mineral Province,eastern *** were grown separately in 2-kg pots filled with mining *** were fertilized with nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium(NPK),lime,and *** results showed increments on growth of both species when nutrients were applied to the mining *** showed increases in leaf area,plant height,stem diameter,and shoot dry mass production when NPK or NPK?micronutrients were applied,while *** was responsive to application of NPK?lime or NPK?lime?***,*** showed higher NUE than ***,especially at the lowest doses of N,P and *** findings may indicate a substantial advantage of *** for mineland revegetation,as this species may require lower nutrient inputs,being,therefore,a more sustainable way to revegetate degraded areas.

Demographic changes in peripheral areas are pressuring the regional public transport systems to adopt innovative *** employment of internet of things(IoT)technologies has proven to be a valid response to mobility challenges in rural areas,and has brought up the concept of"smart land".Framed within the context of the Interreg central Europe project RUMOBIL,this study tries to shed light on how the deployment of smart mobility solutions within the rural context compare to that within the urban *** a literature review,we compared the ease of implementation of different IoT solutions on the urban and the rural contexts,for planners,travellers,and operators,and the relative complexity of common smart mobility *** addition,we identified three major challenges for both rural and urban mobility,namely the need for standardized metrics for optimal routes’detection and a dynamic definition of optimal route,as well as the simplification of investments’planning and *** smart cities and smart land can benefit from smart mobility solutions,even if in most cases,each of the two contexts can gain more advantages than the other from the same *** considering the different levels of population scattering,technological infrastructures,social maturity,and economic opportunities,both rural and urban areas offer comparable *** the future of transport,it is up to all policy levels to consider the challenges deriving from expected trends and leverage the untapped potential of IoT technologies to satisfy future travellers’needs and ensure sustainability.

Toward improving reforestation of Brazilian pine(Araucaria angustifolia),two contrasting sapling sizes in either full sun or in the shade of a mixed plantation and the effect of opening the canopy were evaluated for survival,growth,gas exchange,photosynthetic pigments,and leaf anatomy 18 months after being *** 23 months after planting,a partial opening was made in the canopy in the mixed plantation,then the saplings were evaluated again after 2 months for the same morphophysiological *** 18 months,saplings planted in the full sun had higher survival,growth,pigments,and photosynthesis compared to the shaded *** saplings had higher survival and growth compared to the small *** leaves were thinner and little differentiation of palisade parenchyma and *** opening of the canopy,photo synthetically active radiation was 10 times higher,and the saplings quickly grew in height due to increased ***,although the species can tolerate shade,growth in the shade is *** recommend that for reforestation purposes of Brazilian pine,large saplings should be selected and planted in the open for better development.

Depending on the magnitude and nature of a disaster,identifying the victims can be a complex task that requires coordinated work by disaster victim identification(DVI)teams based on pre-established ***,the analysis of fingerprints has been presented as a method to establish,when possible,the identity of the victims during the DVI *** study discusses the importance of this primary method of identification and the results obtained in four different disasters in which Brazilian DVI teams were involved:the Air France Flight AF447 plane crash in the Atlantic Ocean,floods and mudslides in the state of Rio de Janeiro,Brazil,the LaMia Flight 2933 plane crash in colombia,and the tailings dam collapse in Brumadinho,***,we also report the use of the automatic fingerprint capture and identification system,called Alethia,developed by the Federal Police of Brazil and used in the victim identification process in the two latter events mentioned above.

In this contribution, we present iHEARu-PLAY, an online, multi-player platform for crowdsourced database collection and labelling, including the voice analysis application (VoiLA), a free web-based speech classification tool designed to educate iHEARu-PLAY users about state-of-the-art speech analysis paradigms. Via this associated speech analysis web interface, in addition, VoiLA encourages users to take an active role in improving the service by providing labelled speech data. The platform allows users to record and upload voice samples directly from their browser, which are then analysed in a state-of-the-art classification pipeline. A set of pre-trained models targeting a range of speaker states and traits such as gender, valence, arousal, dominance, and 24 different discrete emotions is employed. The analysis results are visualised in a way that they are easily interpretable by laymen, giving users unique insights into how their voice sounds. We assess the effectiveness of iHEARu-PLAY and its integrated VoiLA feature via a series of user evaluations which indicate that it is fun and easy to use, and that it provides accurate and informative results.
