Feedback Stabilization for a Scalar Conservation Law with PID Boundary Control

This paper deals with a scalar conservation law in 1-D space dimension, and in particular, the focus is on the stability analysis for such an equation. The problem of feedback stabilization under proportional-integral-derivative(PID for short) boundary control is addressed. In the proportional-integral(PI for short) controller case, by spectral analysis, the authors provide a complete characterization of the set of stabilizing feedback parameters, and determine the corresponding time delay stability interval. Moreover, the stability of the equilibrium is discussed by Lyapunov function techniques, and by this approach the exponential stability when a damping term is added to the classical PI controller scheme is proved. Also, based on Pontryagin results on stability for quasipolynomials, it is shown that the closed-loop system sub ject to PID control is always unstable.

H^2-Stabilization of the Isothermal Euler Equations: a Lyapunov Function Approach

The authors consider the problem of boundary feedback stabilization of the 1D Euler gas dynamics locally around stationary states and prove the exponential stability with respect to the H2-norm. To this end, an explicit Lyapunov function as a weighted and squared H2-norm of a small perturbation of the stationary solution is constructed. The authors show that by a suitable choice of the boundary feedback conditions, the H2- exponential stability of the stationary solution follows. Due to this fact, the system is stabilized over an infinite time interval. Furthermore, exponential estimates for the C norm are derived.

BACKGROUND Innate immunity was found to be associated with both persistence of Helicobacter pylori(***)infection and increased risk of gastric *** To identify the risk factors associated with *** infection and to establish the role of TLR9 rs352140 in suppressing or promoting inflammation related to this infection in *** We performed a study of 155 children with digestive symptoms,who were divided into two groups according to the histopathological exam:Group 1–48 children with ***-induced chronic gastritis,and Group 2–control *** Rural area and poor living conditions were significantly associated with *** chronic gastritis(P=0.0042/P<0.0001).Both positive immunoglobulin A anti *** and the rapid urease test were significantly associated with *** infection(P<0.0001).Significantly higher values of leukocytes and neutrophils within the peripheral blood were found in children with *** chronic gastritis(P=0.111/P=0.284).We found a significant positive correlation between the variant TT genotype of TLR9 rs352140 polymorphism and both leucocytes and neutrophils(P=0.0225/P=0.0292).CONCLUSION Variant TT genotype carriers of the TLR9 rs352140 gene polymorphism might have a more severe degree of inflammation.

Nature Conservation and Biodiversity Monitoring through a Spatial Data Infrastructure

One of the main concerns of the European Union environment policy is the deterioration of natural habitats and the threats posed to certain species under the Habitat Directive. With its huge diversity of plant and animal species and high level of endemism, Romania is nominated as a European biodiversity hotspot. Biodiversity is being lost at a dramatic rate unless strategically conservation measurements are taken. Halting the loss of biodiversity is regarded as a priority to the European Member States which are encouraged to work together within the same strong legislative framework in order to protect our most vulnerable species and habitat types. Romania is also in the process of developing the Spatial Data Infrastructure in response to Geographic Information 2000 Initiative launched by the European Commission in 1996 and the INSPIRE （Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe） initiative launched in 2001. The focus of this article is the development of the geospatial architecture framework and applications required for efficient inventory and mapping of natural habitats and wild species of community interest. Implementing a biodiversity geoportal application is seen as critical in order to help users share the geospatial information in the environment and sustainable development sectors.
