Thermal models of buildings are helpful to forecast their energy use and to enhance the control of their mechanical ***,these models are building-specific and require a tedious,error-prone and time-consuming development effort relying on skilled building energy *** to white-box and gray-box models,data-driven(black-box)models require less development time and a minimal amount of information about the building *** this paper,autoregressive neural network models are compared to gray-box and black-box linear models to simulate indoor *** models are trained,validated and compared to actual experimental data obtained for an existing commercial building in Montreal(QC,Canada)equipped with roof top units for air *** show that neural networks mimic more accurately the thermal behavior of the building when limited information is available,compared to gray-box and black-box linear *** gray-box model does not perform adequately due to its under-parameterized nature,while the linear models cannot capture non-linear phenomena such as radiative heat transfer and ***,the neural network models outperform the alternative models in the presented application,reaching a coefficient of determination R2 up to 0.824 and a root mean square error down to 1.11℃,including the error propagation over time for a 1-week period with a 5-minute *** considering a 50-hour time horizon,the best neural networks reach a much lower root mean square error of around 0.6℃,which is suitable for applications such as model predictive control.

针对城乡结合部违章建筑类型多样化、小目标待检物较多且检测精度较低等问题,提出了一种改进RetinaNet深度学习网络的城乡结合部违章建筑检测方法。首先,在主干特征提取网络ResNet50中嵌入CA注意力机制,以增强网络对小目标的感知能力;其次,在ResNet50中引入并行空洞卷积(DCB)模块,以实现多尺度特征融合,降低算法的漏检率;最后,将ResNet50网络的ReLU激活函数替换为geLU激活函数,以加快模型收敛,提升模型稳定性。实验结果表明,改进后模型的平均准确率达到93.28%,参数量为3.920×107,可为城乡结合部违章建筑实时监测及拆除工作提供部分理论依据。

Let g be a finite connected graph. The eccentric connectivity index ξ^c(g) of g is defined as ξ^c(g)=∑v∈V(g)ec(υ)deg(υ), where ec(v) and deg(υ) denote the eccentricity and degree of a vertex v in g, respectively. In this paper, we give an asymptotically sharp upper bound on the eccentric connectivity index in terms of order and vertex-connectivity and in terms of order and edge-connectivity. We also improve the bounds for triangle-free graphs.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive and life-limiting condition of unknown cause with no curative treatment. The impact of IPF on a patient’s quality of life is devastating and palliative treatment such as pulmonary rehabilitation programmes are used to improve quality of life among these individuals, yet relatively little attention has been made to access the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs aimed designed for these patients. There are large gaps in our knowledge on the cardiorespiratory response to exercise and rehabilitation among IPF patients and this study aims to fill this gap in a physiological prospective. We quantified the effects of an eight-week pulmonary rehabilitation program for IPF patients, conducted at Morriston Hospital, Swansea. Fifteen individuals (13 with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and two with Pulmonary Fibrosis associated with Rheumatoid Disease) underwent physical and physiological assessments during a three-day testing protocol: 1) On Day 1, physical function (six-minute walk test) and ventilatory function (spirometry) were measured;2) On Day 2, patients’ cardio-respiratory responses to slowly-increasing, wide-ranging metabolic challenge (using a protocol consisting of periods of rest, incremental bicycle exercise to maximal effort, and post-exercise recovery) were assessed via respiratory gas analysis and ECg recording;3) On Day 3, patients’ cardio-respiratory responses to rapid-onset, high-workload metabolic challenge were assessed (using a protocol including a rapid-onset, constant workload bicycle exercise) by modelling dynamic respiratory oxygen and heart rate responses. Respiratory gas analysis was used to measure the rate of oxygen uptake ( VO2 ) and oxygen uptake efficiency (OUES). All assessments were performed before and after participants completed the pulmonary rehabilitation programme. Hepatic steatosis affects 20% to 30% of the general adult population in the western world. Currently, the technique of choice for determining hepatic fat deposition and the stage of fibrosis is liver biopsy. However, it is an invasive procedure and its use is limited, particularly in children. It may also be subject to sampling error. Non-invasive techniques such as ultrasound, computerised tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS) can detect hepatic steatosis, but currently cannot distinguish between simple steatosis and steatohepatitis, or stage the degree of fibrosis accurately. Ultrasound is widely used to detect hepatic steatosis, but its sensitivity is reduced in the morbidly obese and also in those with small amounts of fatty infiltration. It has been used to grade hepatic fat content, but this is subjective. CT can detect hepatic steatosis, but exposes subjects to ionising radiation, thus limiting its use in longitudinal studies and in children. Recently, magnetic resonance (MR) techniques using chemical shift imaging have provided a quantitative assessment of the degree of hepatic fatty infiltration, which correlates well with liver biopsy results in the same patients. Similarly, in vivo 1H MRS is a fast, safe, non-invasive method forthe quantification of intrahepatocellular lipid (IHCL) levels. Both techniques will be useful tools in future longitudinal clinical studies, either in examining the natural history of conditions causing hepatic steatosis (e.g. non-alcoholic fatty liver disease), or in testing new treatments for these conditions.

AIM: The present study evaluates the performance of the POSSUM, the American Society of Anesthetists (ASA), APACHE and Childs classification in predicting mortality and morbidity in hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) surgery. We describe especially the limitations and advantages of risk in stratifying the patients. METHODS: We investigated 177 randomly chosen patients undergoing elective complex HPB surgery in a single institution with a total of 71 pre-operative and intra-operative risk factors. Primary endpoint was in-hospital mortality and morbidity. Ordered logistic regression analysis was used to identify individual predictors of operative morbidity and mortality. RESULTS: The operative mortality in the series was 3.95%. This compared well with the p-POSSUM and APACHE predicted mortality of 4.31% and 4.29% respectively. Postoperative complications amounted to 45% with 24 (13.6%) patients having a major adverse event. On multrvariate analysis the pre-operative POSSUM physiological score (OR = 1.18, P = 0.009) was superior in predicting complications compared to the ASA (P= 0.108), APACHE (P= 0.117) or Childs classification (P= 0.136). In addition, serum sodium, creatinine, international normalized ratio (INR), pulse rate, and intra-operative blood loss were independent risk factors. A combination of the POSSUM variables and INR offered the optimal combination of risk factors for risk prognostication in HPB surgery. CONCLUSION: Morbidity for elective HPB surgery can be accurately predicted and applied in everyday surgical practice as an adjunct in the process of informed consent and for effective allocation of resources for intensive and high-dependency care facilities.

A novel Mg-based bimetal reagent(Mg/Cu)was used as an enhanced reductive system to degrade insensitivemunition 2,4-dinitroanisole(DNAN),a contaminant found in *** ofDNANwas significantly impacted by dissolved oxygen and studied in anoxic and oxic bimetal systems(i.e.,purging with N2,air,or O_(2) gas).Degradation occurred through sequential nitroreduction:first one nitro group was reduced(ortho or para)to form short-lived intermediates 2-amino-4-nitroanisole or 4-amino-2-nitroanisole(2-ANAN or 4-ANAN),and then subsequent reduction of the other nitro group formed 2,4-diaminoanisole(DAAN).The nitro-amino intermediates demonstrated regioselective reduction in the ortho position to 2-ANAN;Regioselectivity was also impacted by the anoxic/oxic *** O_(2)-purging DNAN degradation rate was slightly enhanced,but most notably O_(2) significantly accelerated DAAN *** also further degraded only in the oxygenated Mg/Cu *** of DNAN byproducts to the reagent occurred regardless of anoxic/oxic condition,resulting in a partition of carbon mass between the adsorbed phase(27%-35%)and dissolved phase(59%-72%).Additional surface techniqueswere applied to investigate contaminant interaction with *** functional theory(DFT)calculations identified preferential adsorption structures for DNAN on Cu with binding through two O atoms of one or both nitro groups.X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)measurements determined the oxidation state of catalyticmetal Cu and formation of a Cu-O-N bond during *** desorption ionization mass spectrometry(LDI-MS)measurements also identified intermediate 2-ANAN adsorbed to the bimetal surface.
