In this work,we report long-term trends in the abundance and breeding performance of Adélie penguins(Pygoscelis adeliae)nesting in three Antarctic colonies(i.e.,at martin Point,South Orkneys Islands;Stranger Point/Cabo Funes,South Shetland Islands;and Esperanza/Hope Bay in the Antarctic Peninsula)from 1995/96 to 2022/*** yearly count data of breeding groups selected,we observed a decline in the number of breeding pairs and chicks in crèche at all colonies ***,the magnitude of change was higher at Stranger Point than that in the remaining ***,the index of breeding success,which was calculated as the ratio of chicks in crèche to breeding pairs,exhibited no apparent trend throughout the study ***,it displayed greater variability at martin Point compared to the other two colonies under *** the number of chicks in crèche of Adélie penguins showed a declining pattern,the average breeding performance was similar to that reported in gentoo penguin colonies,specifically,those undergoing a population increase(even in sympatric colonies facing similar local conditions).Consequently,it is plausible to assume a reduction of the over-winter survival as a likely cause of the declining trend observed,at least in the Stranger Point and Esperanza ***,we cannot rule out local effects during the breeding season affecting the Adélie population of martin Point.

For a bipartite graph G on m and n vertices, respectively, in its vertices classes, and for integers s andt such that 2≤ s ≤ t, 0≤ m-s ≤ n-t, andre＋n≤ 2s＋t-1, we prove that if G has at least mn- （2（m - s）＋ n - t） edges then it contains a subdivision of the complete bipartite K（s,t） with s vertices in the m-class and t vertices in the n-class. Furthermore, we characterize the corresponding extremal bipartite graphs with mn- （2（m - s）＋ n - t ＋ 1） edges for this topological Turan type problem.

Oxygen is essential for plant growth and *** occurs in plants due to limited oxygen avail-abilityfollowing adverse environmental conditions as well inhypoxic niches in otherwisenormoxic ***,the existence and functional integration of spatiotemporal oxygen dynamics with plant development remains *** animal systems dynamic fluctuations in oxygen availability are known as cyclic *** this study,we demonstrate that cyclic fluctuations in internal oxygen levels occur in young emerging leaves of Arabidopsis *** hypoxia in plants is based on a mechanism requiring the ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTORS type VII(ERFVII)that are central components of the oxygen-sensing machinery in *** ERFVll-dependent mechanism allows precise adjustment of leaf growth in response to carbon status and oxygen availability within plant *** study thus establishes a functional connection between internal spatiotemporal oxygen dynamics and developmental processes of plants.

Characterizing Dessication Cracking of a Remolded Clay (Eutric Vertisol) Using the Fractal Dimension Approach

Fractal dimension fd, was used as one of the parameters to describe dessicationcracking pattern of a remolded Black Cotton soil (Eutric Vertisol). The fractal dimension computed from filtered, thinned and skeletonized binary images of soil cracks using the Fractal3 software provided an insight into temporal variability of fd as well as its relationship with the Crack Intensity Factor (CIF) and Soil moisture Content (SmC). The results showed that even for single crack, the fd prior to filtering and thinning were higher than after. Cracking patterns were observedfroma chosen soil sample during dessication and the corresponding relationship between fd and CIF compared and monitored. As the critical SmC decreased during drying (45% to 27%), the CIF soil increased (0.023% - 5.75%), so did the fd (1.233 to 1.7193). The fd showed a positive linear correlation with CIF at r2 = 0.247 (P fd with SmC was best described using a polynomial function at r2 = 0.969 (P fd was sensitive to dessication cracking and therefore on SmC changes. Visual observation of dessication cracking showed that CIF increased and attained stability after day 4 while the computed and logarithmic transformed crack area attained stability between days 7 to 10 gradually decreasing to values below 2%. The estimated crack Cover or Brightness of the digitized binary images also gave better approximation of the CIF though this was slightly higher. Our results showed that dessication cracking of the Eutric Vertisol was independent of antecedent critical SmC and was time-constrained. Further soil cracking therefore stopped once maximum CIF was attained and only widening and deepening of pre-existing cracks continued.

Water requirements and single and dual crop coefficients of sugarcane grown in a tropical region, Brazil

A field experiment was conducted throughout 2009/2010 in a sugarcane field of a commercial distillery located on the coastal area of Paraiba state, Brazil. The objectives were to determine sugarcane water requirements and to test the single and dual crop coefficients by comparing the calculated values of ET with measured ones. Crop evapotranspiration was determined by field water balance, reference evapotranspiration (ETo) by the Penman-monteith approach, while single and dual crop coefficients were computed through the standard FAO-56 methodology. The experimental area was cultivated with irrigation applied weekly by a centre pivot system in addition to rainfall and the irrigation scheduling was based on 100% ETo. Three statistical tests, mean bias difference (mBD), normalized root mean square difference (NRmSD) and regression analysis, were used to evaluate the performance of single and dual crop coefficients. Results showed that there was a notable symmetry between ET measured and ET calculated by Kc dual. The ET values, calculated from Kc single, underestimated those obtained from soil water balance measurements by 36%.

Dear Editor,We present a case of a healthy 32-year-old man who developed bilateral corneal ulceration 3 wk after commencing dupilumab for atopic dermatitis. Dupilumab is a recently introduced systemic monoclonal antibody used in the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis, showing efficacy in clinical trials;. Several publications have reported ocular surface complications associated with dupilumab.

AIm： To identify the current roles of eye and health care workers in eye care delivery and investigate their potential roles in screening and detection for management of diabetic retinopathy（DR） through task ***： Purposive sampling of 24 participants including health administrators, members from non-government organizations and all available eye care workers in Takeo province were recruited. This cross sectional mixed method study comprised a survey and in-depth interviews. Data were collected from medical records at Caritas Takeo Eye Hospital（CTEH） and Kiri Vong District Referral Hospital Vision Centre, and a survey and interviews with participants were done to explore the potential roles for task sharing in DR management. Qualitative data were transcribed into a text program and then entered into N-Vivo（version 10） software for data management and analysis. RESULTS： From 2009 to 2012, a total of 105 178 patients were examined and 14 030 eye surgeries were performed in CTEH by three ophthalmologists supported by ophthalmic nurses in operating and eye examination for patients. Between January 2011 and September 2012, 151 patients（72 males） with retinal pathology including 125（83%） with DR visited CTEH. In addition 170 patients with diabetes were referred to CTEH for eye examinations from mo Po Tsyo screening programs for people with diabetes. Factors favouring task sharing included high demand for eye care services and scarcity of ***： Task sharing and team work for eye care services is functional. Participants favor the potential role of ophthalmic nurses in screening for DR through task sharing.

A process to convert models made by rapid prototypi ng techniques like SL(stereolitography)and LOm(laminated object manufacturing)or by conventional techniques(silicones,resins,wax,etc.)into metallic mould s or tools has been *** main purpose of this technique is to rapidly obtain the first prototypes of parts,for plastics injection,forging or any oth er manufacturing process using the tools produced by casting a metal into a cera mic ***,it can be said that the ceramic moulds are produced by mixing in variab le proportions,depending on the type of ceramics employed,strength and roughne ss desired,a ceramic mixture composed by alumina and/or zirconium silicates bon ded with silica coming from a liquid binder,based on ethyl silicate.A catalyst is added to the slurry in order to produce a sol-gel *** liquid slur ry is poured into the box containing the mould to be *** a short p eriod of time,controlled by the amount of gelling agent,the ceramic mixture ac quires a rubber *** pattern is removed from the ceramic mould,whic h is fired to stop the gelation *** this stabilization the ceramic m ould is sintered at high temperatures in order to generate an inert mould wi th the desired strength in which almost all metallic alloys can be *** effect of ceramic materials(shape,granulometric distribution,chemical com position,etc.),processing parameters(proportion binder/ceramic/catalyst,sint ering conditions,etc.)and casting conditions(mould pre-heating temperature a nd pouring temperature)were studied in order to obtain metallic moulds or tools with tailored properties(high dimensional accuracy,low roughness and high mec hanical strength).
