Use of proper application methods and formulations of termiticides are important to reduce their negative impact to the environment. In this study, we conducted laboratory experiments to determine the effect of localized treatments with commercial dust and liquid formulations of fipronil against Formosan subterranean termites, Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki. The test arena consisted of a specially designed 16-chambered structure with a center chamber connected to 5 foraging chambers that themselves were connected to 10 additional foraging chambers. One peripheral chamber received a liquid or dust treatment and termites were released in the center chamber. Results showed that >91% of the termites were dead within the 9-d test period despite the localized treatment of only 1 foraging chamber. Termites that were still alive after 9 d were transferred to an untreated dish and held for 10 more days. The majority of those termites were dead and the rest were moribund on day 19. Regardless of the specific dish treated, both formulations of fipronil were found to be highly efficacious. Termites did not exhibit repellency to either formulation. Our results suggest that localized (or spot) treatment with either commercially available dust or liquid formulations of fipronil can be a viable option for control of a termite infestation where complete soil drenching is not desirable.

A thorough analysis of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) that make use of self-healable nanomaterials is presented in this review. These TENGs have shown promise as independent energy sources that do not require an external power source to function. TENGs are developing into a viable choice for powering numerous applications as low-power electronics technology advances. Despite having less power than conventional energy sources, TENGs do not directly compete with these. TENGs, on the other hand, provide unique opportunities for future self-powered systems and might encourage advancements in energy and sensor technologies. Examining the many approaches used to improve nanogenerators by employing materials with shape memory and self-healable characteristics is the main goal of this review. The findings of this comprehensive review provide valuable information on the advancements and possibilities of TENGs, which opens the way for further research and advancement in this field. The discussion of life cycle evaluations of TENGs provides details on how well they perform in terms of the environment and identifies potential improvement areas. Additionally, the cost-effectiveness, social acceptability, and regulatory implications of self-healing TENGs are examined, as well as their economic and societal ramifications.

AIM：To evaluate the rotational stability and visual outcomes of a single-piece hydrophilic acrylic toric intraocular lenses（IOL） over a 1.5-year follow-up *** from the 6-month follow-up study have been previously ***：Forty eyes of 26 cataract patients（mean age：72.8±7.9y） with pre-existing corneal astigmatism of 1.0 to 2.6 D were enrolled in the *** axial length was 23.17±0.88 *** outcome measures after implantation of the Torica-a A IOL（Human Optics） were IOL rotational stability,subjective refraction,astigmatism correction,uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity（UDVA,CDVA）.RESULTS：There was no significant change in the parameters evaluated between the 6-month and 1.5-year *** last visit,mean absolute IOL rotation（objective method） was 1.81°±1.87°（range 0.00° to 7.20°） with 78.6% of eyes having IOL rotation 〈3°,92.9% of eyes 〈5° and 100% of eyes 〈8°.No patient required secondary IOL repositioning during the course of the *** residual refractive cylinder was-0.60±0.40 *** was a significant reduction in the magnitude of the J0 vector postoperatively（P〈0.0001） with a mean absolute change of 0.76±0.40 *** mean J45 vector was close to zero preoperatively and postoperatively and didn＇t change significantly（P=0.28）.Mean monocular UDVA and CDVA was 0.09±0.12 log MAR and-0.01±0.12 log MAR,*** treatment with Nd：YAG laser was ***：The Torica-a A IOL shows good and stable visual performance and rotational stability over a 1.5-year follow-up period.

AIM： To evaluate the inhibitory effect of subconjunctival bevacizumab as single-and multiple-dose application, and compare their effects on corneal neovascularization in a rat model. METHODS： Thirty adult Sprague-Dawley rats were used in this experimental study. The central cornea of the rats was cauterized chemically. The rats were randomly enrolled into three groups. All groups received subconjunctival injections. In Group 1（control group, n=10）, 0.05 m L 0.9% Na Cl solution was injected on the first day. In Group 2（single-dose group, n=10）, 0.05 m L bevacizumab（1.25 mg） was injected on the first day. In Group 3（multiple-dose group, n=10）, four doses of 0.05 m L bevacizumab（1.25 mg） were injected on the first, third, fifth and seventh day. Slit-lamp examination of all rats was performed at the third and ninth day. Digital images of the corneas were taken and analyzed using image analysis software to calculate corneal neovascularization area. All rats were sacrificed on the tenth day. In corneal sections, the number of blood vessels, state of inflammation and collagen formation was evaluated histopathologically. RESULTS： In Group 3, corneal edema grades were significantly lower than Group 1 and Group 2（P=0.02, and P=0.035, respectively）. The mean percentage of neovascularized corneal area in Group 3 was significantly lower than Group 2（P=0.005）. On histopathological examination, Group 2 and Group 3 showed significantly less number of blood vessels than Group 1（P=0.005, and P=0.001, respectively）. Additionally, Group 3 showed significantly less number of blood vessels compared to Group 2（P=0.019）. Inflammation and edema grades were significantly lower in Group 3 compared to Group 1（P=0.001）. CONCLUSION： Subconjunctival bevacizumab injection is effective in inhibition of newly formed corneal neovascularization. The multiple-dose bevacizumab treatment seems to be more effective compared to single-dose treatment.

A two-step process was employed to convert methane or ethane to light olefins via the formation of an intermediate monoalkyl halide. A novel K4RuOCll0/TiO2 catalyst was tested for the oxidative chlorination of methane and ethane. The catalyst had high selectivity for methyl and ethyl chlorides, 80% and 90%, respectively. During the oxychlorination of ethane at T〉~250~C, the formation of ethylene as a reaction product along with ethyl chloride was observed. In situ Fourier transform infrared studies showed that the key intermediate for monoalkyl chloride and ethylene formation is the alkoxy group. The reaction mechanism for the oxidative chlorina- tion of methane and ethane over the Ru-oxychloride catalyst was proposed. The novel fiber glass catalyst was also tested for the dehydrochlorination of alkyl chlorides to ethylene and propylene. Very high selectivities （up to 94%-98%） for ethylene and propylene formation as well as high stability were demonstrated.

The Newton diagram and, in particular, the lowest-degree quasi-homogeneous terms of an analytic planar vector field allow us to determine the existence of characteristic orbits and separatrices of an isolated singular point. We give an easy algorithm for obtaining the local phase portrait near the origin of a bi-dimensional differential system and we provide several examples.
