Enhancement of Ising superconductivity in monolayer NbSe_(2) via surface fluorination

Recently discovered Ising superconductors have garnered considerable interest due to their anomalously large in-plane upper critical fields(B_(c2)). However, the requisite strong spin-orbital coupling in the Ising pairing mechanism generally renders these superconductors heavy-element dominant with notably low superconducting transition temperatures(Tc). Here, based on the Migdal-Eliashberg theory and the mean-field Bogoliubov-de Gennes Hamiltonian, we demonstrate a significant enhancement of Ising superconductivity in monolayer NbSe_(2) through surface fluorination, as evidenced by concomitant improvements in Tcand Bc_(2). This enhancement arises from three predominant factors. Firstly, fluorine atoms symmetrically and stably adhere to both sides of the monolayer NbSe_(2), thereby maintaining the out-of-plane mirror symmetry and locking carrier spins ***, fluorination suppresses the charge density wave in monolayer NbSe_(2) and induces a van Hove singularity in the vicinity of the Fermi level, leading to a marked increase in the number of carriers and, consequently, strengthening the electron-phonon coupling(EPC). Lastly, the appearance of fluorine-related, low-frequency phonon modes further augments the EPC. Our findings suggest a promising avenue to elevate Tcin two-dimensional Ising superconductors without compromising their Ising pairing.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)with portal vein invasion(PVI)is considered an advanced stage with a poor *** current guidelines recommend systemic treatment for HCC with PVI,surgical resection could produce acceptable outcomes in selected *** study aimed to identify the clinical significance of surgical resection for HCC with PVI patients using a large-scale nationwide ***:This retrospective,multicenter,observational cohort analyzed data from the Korean Primary Liver Cancer Registry.A total of 16,781 patients who were newly diagnosed with HCC between 2008 and 2018 were enrolled in this *** with worse Child-Turcotte-Pugh scores(≥7)or performance status(≥2)were *** them,998 patients who received treatment for HCC with PVI were included in the analysis and were divided into two groups:resection group of 151(15.1%)and palliative group of 847(84.9%)who received transarterial and systemic therapy according to the treatment *** matching the number and size of the tumors and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score between the groups,the final study cohort for analysis comprised 151(26.6%)patients in the resection group and 417(73.4%)in the palliative *** primary endpoints were overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS).Results:The number and maximum size of HCC did not differ between the resection and palliative groups after matching[1(range,1-5)vs.1(range,1-6),P=0.11 and 5.5(range,1.2-20.6)vs.6.0(range,1.0-20.5)cm,P=0.24,respectively].Tumor markers,including alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)and protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II(PIVKA-II),also did not differ between the groups(P=0.29 and P=0.36,respectively).The 5-year OS and CSS rates of the resection and palliative groups were 44.8%and 17.4%(Psis showed that palliative treatment intent was the most significant risk factor for OS and CSS[odds ratio(OR

Quaternary intraplate magmatism formed several volcanic islands and seamounts,including Dokdo(DD),Ulleungdo(UD),simheungtack(ST),Anyongbok,and Isabu in the southwest of the East Sea back-arc *** this study,we present whole-rock geochemical,zircon U–Pb age,and in situ O–Hf isotope data for the submerged volcanic rocks from DD,UD,and ST to provide new insights into the eruption timing of these volcanoes and constrain the magma evolution *** samples used in this study were trachytes and exhibited ferroan,alkalic,and metaluminous to weakly peraluminous *** showed light rare earth element(REE)-enriched patterns with(La/Yb)N ratios of 25.3–31.7 and mostly negative Eu anomalies in a chondrite-normalized REE *** addition,they were enriched in large-ion lithophile elements and high field strength elements;they exhibited positive Pb anomalies and strongly negative Ba,Sr,P,and Ti *** zircons yielded a weighted-mean 206Pb/238U age of 2.61,0.348–0.704,and 2.76–2.94 Ma for the DD,UD,and ST trachytes,*** zircons exhibited lowerδ^(18)O values than normal depleted mantle values,regardless of the crystallization age and spatial distribution of ***δ^(18)O values showed no correlation with U contents or Th/U ratios,indicating that the lowδ^(18)O signatures were of primary magmatic *** Hf isotopic compositions of the zircons were relatively heterogeneous but predominately characterized by positive eHf *** O–Hf mixing modeling revealed that low-δ^(18)O rocks with positive eHf values from the UD and ST volcanoes were derived from a hybrid source of recycled juvenile crustal materials with low-δ^(18)O and positive eHf signatures and an enriched mantle source with normalδ^(18)O and negative eHf *** juvenile oceanic crust in the source was likely metasomatized by seawater at high temperatures prior to *** contrast,the felsic magma that formed the DD volcanoes may have assimilated with regional

In this study,the relationships between five renewable energy sub-sectors markets and the geopolitical risk(GPR)and economic uncertainty indices(EUI)were examined using daily data from March 30,2012,to April 1,*** cross mapping results show that the renewable energy indices have definite relationships with the GPR and *** renewable energy indices show differences in response directions,speed and trends for a standard information difference impulse from the GPR and the EUI.A positive dynamic conditional correlation between renewable energies and EUI was observed in the first and second waves of the COVID-19 *** contrast,there was a relatively decreased effect for two risk indices during the Russia-Ukraine conflict of February-March *** results show that renewable energy may act as a time-varying hedge against economic uncertainty and GPR owing to its safehaven properties at various ***,building more secure and reliable renewable energy systems can help countries to increase their energy independence,which protects them against the risks of political and economic uncertainty.

NaA zeolite(si/Al=1.00)has been commercially applied for capturing radioactive 90Sr^(2+)because of its high surface charge density,effectively stabilizing the multivalent ***,owing to its narrow micropore opening(4.0Å),large micron-sized crystallites,and bulkiness of hydrated Sr^(2+),the Sr^(2+)exchange over NaA has been limited by very slow *** this study,we synthesized nanocrystalline low-silica X by minimizing a water content in a synthesis gel and utilizing a methyl cellulose hydrogel as a crystal growth *** resulting zeolite exhibited high crystallinity and Al-rich framework(si/Al of approximately 1.00)with the sole presence of tetrahedral Al sites,which are capable of high Sr^(2+)uptake and ion ***,the zeolite with a FAU topology has a much larger micropore opening size(7.4Å)and a much smaller crystallite size(~340 nm)than NaA,which enable significantly enhanced ion-exchange *** to conventional NaA,the nanocrystalline low-silica X exhibited remarkably increased Sr^(2+)-exchange kinetics(>18-fold larger rate constant)in batch *** both the nanocrystalline low-silica X and NaA exhibited comparable Sr^(2+)capacities under equilibrated conditions,the former demonstrated a 5.5-fold larger breakthrough volume than NaA under dynamic conditions,attributed to its significantly faster Sr^(2+)-exchange kinetics.
