Single Image Rain Removal Using Image Decomposition and a Dense Network

Removing rain from a single image is a challenging task due to the absence of temporal information. Considering that a rainy image can be decomposed into the low-frequency(LF) and high-frequency(HF) components, where the coarse scale information is retained in the LF component and the rain streaks and texture correspond to the HF component, we propose a single image rain removal algorithm using image decomposition and a dense network. We design two task-driven sub-networks to estimate the LF and non-rain HF components of a rainy image. The high-frequency estimation sub-network employs a densely connected network structure, while the low-frequency sub-network uses a simple convolutional neural network(CNN).We add total variation(TV) regularization and LF-channel fidelity terms to the loss function to optimize the two subnetworks jointly. The method then obtains de-rained output by combining the estimated LF and non-rain HF *** experiments on synthetic and real-world rainy images demonstrate that our method removes rain streaks while preserving non-rain details, and achieves superior de-raining performance both perceptually and quantitatively.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and under the pressure of high competitiveness for higher education in China,junior high school students’mental health is facing greater *** the time allocation of study and sleep is necessary for developing effective prevention and treatment *** on a survey of 31,057 junior high school students in 47 junior high schools in Gansu Province,China's Mainland,the study analyzed the associations of time spent on study and sleep with anxiety and depressive symptoms among junior high school students through chi-square test,ANOVA,logistic regression model and threshold regression *** was found that 18.4%–21.1%of junior high school students had mild and above anxiety and depressive *** junior high school students were more likely to have anxiety and depressive *** addition,time spent on study was significantly and positively associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms and time spent on sleep was significantly and negatively associated with anxiety and depressive *** sleepers were more likely to suffer from anxiety and depressive *** after-school study time appropriately and getting more sleep are beneficial in reducing anxiety and depression,but it is more important to ensure time of *** the reduction of anxiety and depressive symptoms,the maximum time spent on study after school should not exceed 1.92 h,the minimum time spent on sleep at night should be more than 7 h and a 40-min lunch break should be guaranteed at noon.

Liver cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death worldwide and mainly includes hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and cholangiocarcinoma(CCA).Extracellular vesicles(EVs)are membrane-derived nanometer-sized vesicles that can be released by different cell types under normal and pathological conditions and thus play important roles in the transmission of biological information between *** evidence suggests that liver cancer cell-derived EVs may help establish a favorable microenvironment to support the proliferation,invasion and metastasis of cancer *** this review,we summarized the role of EVs in the tumor microenvironment(TME)during the development and progression of liver *** messenger carriers,EVs are loaded by various biomolecules,such as proteins,RNA,DNA,lipids and metabolites,making them potential liquid biopsy biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of liver *** also highlighted the progress of EVs as antigen carriers and EV-based therapeutics in preclinical studies of liver cancer.

Two-dimensional （2D） nanosheets have emerged as an important class of nanomaterial with great potential in the field of biomedicines, particularly in cancer theranostics. However, owing to the lack of effective methods that synthesize uniform 2D nanomaterials with controlled size, systematic evaluation of size-dependent bio-behaviors of 2D nanomaterials is rarely reported. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to report a systematic evaluation of the influence of size of 2D nanomaterials on their bio-behaviors. 2D Pd nanosheets with diameters ranging from 5 to 80 nm were synthesized and tested in cell and animal models to assess their size-dependent bioapplication, biodistribution, elimination, toxicity, and genomic gene expression profiles. Our results showed size significantly influences the biological behaviors of Pd nanosheets, including their photothermal and photoacoustic effects, pharmacokinetics, and toxicity. Compared to larger-sized Pd nanosheets, smaller-sized Pd nanosheets exhibited more advanced photoacoustic imaging and photothermal effects upon ultralow laser irradiation. Moreover, in vivo results indicated that 5-nm Pd nanosheets escape from the reticuloendothelial system with a longer blood half-life and can be cleared by renal excretion, while Pd nanosheets with larger sizes mainly accumulate in the liver and spleen. The 30-nm Pd nanosheets exhibited the highest tumor accumulation. Although Pd nanosheets did not cause any appreciable toxicity at the cellular level, we observed slight lipid accumulation in the liver and inflammation in the spleen. Genomic gene expression analysis showed that 80-nm Pd nanosheets interacted with more cellular components and affected more biological processes in the liver, as compared to 5-nm Pd nanosheets. We believe this work will provide valuable information and insights into the clinical application of 2D Pd nanosheets as nanomedicines.

Edge processing of binary image has been one of the most fundamental issues in the area of computer vision. It has great application in industrial inspection. This paper presents a robust ‘corner feature extraction' algorithm which extracts corner features of binary image without any assumptions and constraints. By using this algorithm, the optimal corner features are extracted to characterize the image. After corner features are obtained, a novel approach is proposed to acquire the boundary information, which is based on the least square fitting method. We show its efficiency with some test images.

Most of multimedia schemes employ variable-length codes （VLCs） like Huffman code as core components in obtaining high compression rates. However VLC methods are very sensitive to channel noise. The goal of this paper is to salvage as many data from the damaged packets as possible for higher audiovisual quality. This paper proposes an integrated joint source-channel decoder （I-JSCD） at a symbol-level using three-dimensional （3-D） trellis representation for first-order Markov sources encoded with VLC source code and convolutional channel code. This method combines source code and channel code state-spaces and bit-lengths to construct a two-dimensional （2-D） state-space, and then develops a 3-D trellis and a maximum a-posterior （MAP） algorithm to estimate the source sequence symbol by symbol. Experiment results demonstrate that our method results in significant improvement in decoding performance, it can salvage at least half of （50%） data in any channel error rate, and can provide additional error resilience to VLC stream like image, audio, video stream over high error rate links.
