Clinical characteristics of community-acquired pneumonia in children caused by mycoplasma pneumoniae with or without myocardial damage:A single-center retrospective study

BACKGROUND Mycoplasma pneumoniae(MP)is a prevalent pathogen that causes respiratory infections in children and *** To assess the differences in the clinical features of MP-associated communityacquired pneumonia(CAP)in children who presented with mild or severe mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia(MPP);to identify the incidence of myocardial damage between the two *** This work is a retrospective *** identified children between 2 mo and 16 years of age with clinical and radiological findings consistent with *** admitted patients to the inpatient department of the Second Hospital of Jilin University,Changchun,China,from January 2019 to December *** A total of 409 hospitalized patients were diagnosed with *** them were 214(52.3%)males and 195(47.7%)*** duration of fever and cough was the longest in severe MPP ***,plasma levels of highly sensitive Creactive protein(t=-2.834,P<0.05),alanine transaminase(t=-2.511,P<0.05),aspartate aminotransferase(t=-2.939,P<0.05),and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)(t=-2.939,P<0.05)were all elevated in severe MPP cases compared with mild MPP cases,and these elevations were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conversely,the neutrophil percentage was significantly lower in severe MPP cases than in mild MPP *** incidence of myocardial damage was significantly higher in severe MPP cases than in mild MPP cases(χ^(2)=157.078,P<0.05).CONCLUSION Mycoplasma pneumoniae is the main cause of *** incidence of myocardial damage was higher and statistically significant in severe MPP cases than in mild MPP cases.

Agricultural wastes,including cocoa pod husk(waste from the chocolate industry)and sugarcane bagasse(waste from the sugar industry),are increasing day by *** development of food packaging biofilms from these two wastes could be beneficial to the environment and ***,this study was conducted to develop biodegradable plastic films by using cocoa pod husk and sugarcane *** and fibre were extracted from cocoa pod husk and sugar-cane bagasse,*** developed bioplastic films were divided into several concentration ratios of cellulose and fibre which are 100꞉0(100%cellulose),75꞉25(cellulose꞉fibre),50꞉50(cel-lulose꞉fibre),25꞉75(cellulose꞉fibre),and 0꞉100(100%fibre).The physicochemical properties for all bioplastic concentration ratios were determined in terms of sensory evaluation,drying time,moisture content,water absorption and water vapor *** the observation and anal-ysis of the physicochemical properties of bioplastic,we found that the most suitable bioplastic film for food packaging goes to the combination of 75%cellulose and 25%fibre bioplastic,as it demonstrated the lowest water absorption percentage and water vapor permeability.

Background Childhood neurosurgical conditions such as hydrocephalus and spina bifida represent a significant burden of death and disability worldwide,particularly in low and middle-income ***,there are limited data on the disease prevalence and delays in care for pediatric neurosurgical conditions in very low-resource *** study aims to characterize the delays in access to care for pediatric neurosurgical conditions in *** We performed a retrospective review of all children with congenital hydrocephalus and spina bifida admitted to the Edna University Hospital(EAUH)in Somaliland between 2011 and *** demographics were analyzed with descriptive statistics and χ^(2) test *** defined delays in care for each condition based on standard care in high-income *** and multivariate logistic regression were performed to evaluate predictors of delay in *** significance was set at p<*** A total of 344 children were admitted to EAUH with neurosurgical conditions from 2011 to *** most common condition was congenital hydrocephalus(62%).Delays in care were found for 90%of patients and were associated with the type of diagnosis and *** longest delay among children with spina bifida was 60 months,while the longest delay for children with congenital hydrocephalus was 36 *** with congenital hydrocephalus or spina bifida traveling from foreign countries had the highest waiting time to receive care,with a median delay of 8 months(IQR:5–11 months)and 4 months(IQR:3–7 months),*** We found significant delays in care for children with neurosurgical conditions in *** country has an urgent need to scale up its surgical infrastructure,workforce,and referral pathways to address the needs of children with hydrocephalus and spina bifida.

Photon absorption parameters such as mass attenuation coefficients(μ_m),molar extinction coefficients(ε),total molecular(σ_(t,m)),atomic(σ_(t,a))and electronic(σ_(t,el))cross sections,half-value layers(X_(1/2)),tenth-value layers(X_(1/10)),mean free paths(λ),effective atomic numbers(Z_(eff)),and effective electron densities(N_(el))were estimated for defatted soy flour(DSF),soy protein concentrate(SPC),and soy protein isolate(SPI)-based Rhizophora *** composites substituted with 10 wt%sodium hydroxide(NaOH)and 0,5,10,and 15 wt%itaconic acid polyamidoamine-epichlorohydrin(IA-PAE)*** composition was assessed using ultrahigh-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry(UHR-FESEM-EDX).The interaction parameters were evaluated for K_(α1)photons at16.59,17.46,21.21,and 25.26 keV,employing a low-energy germanium(LEGe)detector system and an~(241)Amγ-ray source.X-ray diffraction characterization revealed an amorphous phase in the developed particleboard *** DSF15',SPC15',and SPI15'exhibited the highest values ofμ_m,ε,σ_(t,m),Zeff,and N_(el)among all of the studied particleboard samples,within the range of measured photon *** addition,all of the modified samples exhibited lower X_(1/2),X_(1/10),λ,σ_(t,a),andσ_(t,el)than the unmodified samples,with DSF-,SPC-,and SPI/NaOH/Rhizophora spp./IA-PAE(15 wt%),indicating insignificant *** current results of the particleboard samples'analysis can be useful for medical radiation applications and shielding research.
