Identifying glyphosate-tolerant maize by soaking seeds in glyphosate solution

The identification of glyphosate-tolerant maize genotypes by field spraying with glyphosate is time-consuming, costly and requires treatment of a large area. We report a potentially better technique of seed-soaking to identify glyphosate-tolerant maize genotypes. The effects of soaking maize seeds in glyphosate solution under controlled conditions were studied on seed germination rate, seedling morphological indices, seedling growth and leaf chlorophyll content. These responses were compared among a glyphosate-tolerant transgenic maize cultivar CC-2, glyphosate-susceptible inbred line Zheng 58（the recurrent parent of CC-2） and hybrid cultivar Zhengdan 1002. The results showed that the germination rate, seedling morphological indices and leaf chlorophyll content of glyphosate-tolerant CC-2 seeds did not change significantly among five different concentrations of glyphosate treatment（0 to 2%）. In contrast, germination rates, seedling morphological indices and leaf chlorophyll contents of Zheng 58 and Zhengdan 1002 seeds were significantly negatively affected by exposure to increasing concentrations of glyphosate. The glyphosate-tolerant inbred line CC-2 displayed a strong tolerance to glyphosate after soaking in 0.1 to 2.0% glyphosate solutions, while both the inbred line Zheng 58 and hybrid Zhengdan 1002 were susceptible to glyphosate. The accuracy of the glyphosate-soaking method for screening glyphosate-tolerant maize was confirmed using a field spraying trial.

Synthesis of a New Aromatic Dianhydride Containing Pyridine Ring and Related Polyimide

A new aromatic dianhydride monomer containing pyridine moiety, 2,6-bis[4＇-（3＂,4＂- dicarboxyphenoxy）benzoyl]-pyridine dianhydride （Md）, was synthesized in four steps, starting from 2,6-pyridinedicarboxyl chloride. A novel pyridine-containing polyimide was prepared via polycondensation of Md with ODA by two-step method. The resulting polyimide exhibits excellent solubility, film-forming capability and high thermal resistance.

Preparation and Magnetic Property of La_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)MnO_3 Nanorod by Combination Sol-Gel with Molten Salt

La0.7Sr0.3MnO3（LSMO） nanorods were synthesized by a method combining sol-gel with molten salts at 950 ℃ for 10 h, which employed KCl＋NaCl（mass ratio 4：1） as eutectic molten salts. The morphologies and magnetic properties of the resulting LSMO nanorods were investigated by X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, and vibrating sample magnetometer（VSM） measurements. It was found that the obtained perovskite manganite LSMO was a uniform nanorod with a diameter of about 50 nm and a length of longer than 500 rim. The Curie temperature（To） of the LSMO nanorod used here was 262 K, much lower than that of bulky single crystal LSMO（360 K）. The low Curie temperature might be a result of the great disorder near the grain boundary, which could be observed clearly from the TEM picture.

Poly（ethylene oxide）-based polymer all-solid-state lithium metal batteries（ASSLBs） have received widespread attention due to their low cost,good process ability,and high energy ***,the growth of Li dendrites within polymer solid-state electrolytes damages the reversibility of Li anodes and still impedes their widespread *** efficient strategy is to construct a superior solid electrolyte ***,a stable interface enriched with Li3N and LiF is in-situ formed between Li anode and a terna ry salt *** terna ry salt electrolyte is innovatively designed by introducing lithium bis（trifluoromethane sulfonyl）imide（LiTFSI）,lithium bis（fluorosulfonyl）imide（LiFSI）,and LiNO3to poly（ethylene oxide） *** characterization indicates that LiNO3and LiFSI contribute to forming a Li3N-LiF-enriched interface and meanwhile LiTFSI ensures excellent ***,among various Li compound components,Li3N has high ionic conductivity,which is beneficial for reducing overpotential,while LiF has high interfacial energy which can enhance nucleation energy and suppress the formation of Li *** experimental results show that ASSLBs coupled with LiFePO4cathode display extremely excellent cycle stability approximately 2200 cycles at 2 C,with a final and corresponding discharge specific capacity of 96.7 mA h g-1. Additionally,a schematic illustration of the working mechanism for the Li3N-LiF interface is proposed.

The Spillover Effects of International Co-production in the Chinese Film Industry

This study examines the spillover effects of international film co-production using data on films released in the Chinese mainland from 2006 to *** results indicate that local film producers can enhance their product performance by leveraging the expertise and practices of more sophisticated foreign firms during international *** effects were observed related to budget size,firm size,ownership structure,and cultural *** spillover effects can occur through two mechanisms:the demonstration effect(the adoption of more advanced technology)and the labor mobility effect(actors or directors upgrading their skills).An instrumental variable approach is employed to address endogeneity *** study contributes to the spillover effects of international co-production,which has been neglected in the *** empirical findings suggest that engaging in international co-production can potentially boost productivity for firms from developing *** country governments may consider offering preferential policies to promote international co-production as an alternative to foreign direct investment(FDI),thereby fostering positive spillover effects.

Flotation separation of chalcopyrite from pyrite using mineral fulvic acid as selective depressant under weakly alkaline conditions

Mineral fulvic acid(MFA)was used as an eco-friendly pyrite depressant to recover chalcopyrite by flotation with the use of the butyl xanthate as a *** experiments showed that MFA produced a stronger inhibition effect on pyrite than on *** separation of chalcopyrite from pyrite was realized by introducing 150 mg/L MFA at a pulp pH of approximately *** copper grade,copper recovery,and separation efficiency were 28.03%,84.79%,and 71.66%,*** adsorption tests,zeta potential determinations,and localized electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests showed that more MFA adsorbed on pyrite than on chalcopyrite,which weakened the subsequent interactions between pyrite and the *** force microscope imaging further confirmed the adsorption of MFA on pyrite,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results indicated that hydrophilic Fe-based species on the pyrite surfaces increased after exposure of pyrite to MFA,thereby decreasing the floatability of pyrite.
