Field measurements for calibration of simplified models of the stiffening effect of infill masonry walls in high-rise RC framed and shear-wall buildings

As a type of nonstructural component, infill walls play a significant role in the seismic behavior of high-rise buildings. However, the stiffness of the infill wall is generally either ignored or considered by simplified empirical criteria that lead to a period shortening. The difference can be greatly decreased by using a structural identification methodology. In this study, an ambient vibration test was performed on four on-site reinforced concrete high-rise buildings, and the design results were compared with the PKPM models using corresponding finite element(FE) models. A diagonal strut model was used to simulate the behavior of the infill wall, and the identified modal parameters measured from the on-site test were employed to calibrate the parameters of the diagonal strut in the FE models. The SAP2000 models with calibrated elastic modulus were used to evaluate the seismic response in the elastic state. Based on the load-displacement relationship of the infill wall, nonlinear dynamic analysis models were built in PERFORM-3 D and calibrated using the measured modal periods. The analysis results revealed that the structural performance under small/large earthquake records were both strengthened by infill walls, and the contribution of infill walls should be considered for better accuracy in the design process.

Mechanism of the Selective Catalytic Reduction of NOx with NH3 over W-Doped Fe/TiO2 Catalyst

The W-doped Fe/TiO2 catalyst prepared by an impregnation method exhibited a good NH3-selective cata- lytic reduction（SCR） activity and N2 selectivity with broad operation temperature window. The interaction between Fe and W could increase the amount of surface chemisorbed oxygen, and thus enhances the low temperature SCR activity by facilitating the fast SCR of 2NH3＋NO＋NO2 →2N2＋3H2O. The NH3-SCR reaction mechanism over the W-Fe/TiO2 was fully investigated via in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy（in situ DRIFTS）. In the low temperature range（〈250 ℃）, the reactive surface species were mainly coordinated NH3, ionic NH~ and adsorbed NO2 species, and the SCR mainly followed the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism, during which the adsorbed NO2 species became the important active sites. In the high temperature range（〉250 ℃）, the reactive surface species were mainly NH2, and the SCR mainly followed the Eley-Rideal mechanism, during which the for- mation of NH2NO intermediate species after H-abstraction of NH3 was the rate-determining step.

Electroacupuncture Promotes Angiogenesis in Mice with Cerebral Ischemia by Inhibiting miR-7

The simultaneous nitrification and denitrification in step-feeding biological nitrogen removal process were investigated under different influent substrate concentrations and aeration flow rates. Biological occurrence of simultaneous nitrification and denitrification was verified in the aspect of nitrogen mass balance and alkalinity. The experimental results also showed that there was a distinct linear relationship between simultaneous nitrification and denitrification and DO concentration under the conditions of low and high aeration flow rate. In each experimental run the floc sizes of activated sludge were also measured and the results showed that simultaneous nitrification and denitrification could occur with very small size of floc.

Mechanistic insight into the synergy between nickel single atoms and nanoparticles on N-doped carbon for electroreduction of CO2

The synergy of single atoms （SAs） and nanoparticles （NPs） has demonstrated great potential in promoting the electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reaction （CO2RR）;however,the rationalization of the SAs/NPs proportion remains one challenge for the catalyst ***,a Ni2+-loaded porous poly（ionic liquids）(PIL) precursor synthesized through the free radical self-polymerization of the ionic liquid monomer,1-allyl-3-vinylimidazolium chloride,was pyrolyzed to prepare the Ni,N co-doped carbon materials,in which the proportion of Ni SAs and NPs could be facilely modulated by controlling the annealing *** catalyst Ni-NC-1000 with a moderate proportion of Ni SAs and NPs exhibited high efficiency in the electrocatalytic conversion of CO2into *** Ni K-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure （XANES） spectra and theoretical calculations were conducted to gain insight into the synergy of Ni SAs and *** charge transfer from Ni NPs to the surrounding carbon layer and then to the Ni SAs resulted in the electron-enriched Ni SAs active *** the electroreduction of CO2,the coexistence of Ni SAs and NPs strengthened the CO2activation and the affinity towards the key intermediate of*COOH,lowering the free energy for the potential-determining*CO2→*COOH step,and therefore promoted the catalysis efficiency.

High Performance ZrNbAl Alloy with Low Thermal Expansion Coefficient

Thermal expansion is a common phenomenon in both metals and alloys, which is important for metallic material applications in modern industry, especially in nuclear and aerospace industries. A lower thermal expansion coefficient may cause lower thermal stress and higher accuracy. A new Zr-based alloy is developed and *** XRD diffraction results demonstrate that only a close-packed hexagonal phase（α or α＇ phase） exists in the microstructure. The thermal expansion and mechanical properties are studied. According to the experimental results, the new Zr-based alloy presents a low thermal expansion coefficient and good mechanical ***,its thermal expansion coefficient is stable through solution treatment.

A collaborative strategy for enhanced reduction of Cr(Ⅵ) by Fe(0) in the presence of oxalate under sunlight:Performance and mechanism

Nanometer-size zero-valent iron(NZVI)is an efficient reducing agent,but its surface is easily passivated with an oxide layer,leading to reaction *** our study,oxalate(OA)was introduced into this heterogeneous system of NZVI,which could form ferrioxalate complexes with the NZVI surface-bound Fe3+and dissolved Fe3+in the *** of ferrioxalate complexes can facilitate the generation of Fe2+from Fe3+and CO2·-radical,both species have strong reduction ***,a"photo-oxalate-Fe(0)"system through sunlight induction was established,which not only prohibited the formation of a surface passivation layer,but also displayed a synergetic mechanism of ferrioxalate photolysis to enhance reduction,exhibiting remarkably higher degradation activity(several times faster)toward the model pollutant Cr(Ⅵ)than the mechanism with NZVI *** tests suggested that both NZVI dosage and OA content markedly affected the reduction *** pH was beneficial to the reduction ***,recyclability experiment showed that the reduction rate decreased from 0.21706 to 0.03977 min-1 after three cycles of reuse due to the NZVI losing reaction activity generally,but the system still maintained considerable reduction ***,a mechanism was revealed whereby NZVI would transform to Fe oxides after the exhaustion of its reductive power,and the photolysis of ferrioxalate to promote the cycling of iron species played the predominant role in providing extra reduction *** features confirm that introduction of OA into Cr(Ⅵ)reduction by NZVI through sunlight induction is advantageous and promising.

AZD1775 synergizes with SLC7A11 inhibition to promote ferroptosis

Tumor suppressor p53-mediated cell cycle arrest and DNA damage repair may exert cytoprotective effects against cancer therapies, including WEE1 inhibition. Considering that p53 activation can also lead to multiple types of cell death, the role of this tumor suppressor in WEE1 inhibitor-based therapies remains disputed. In this study, we reported that nucleolar stress-mediated p53 activation enhanced the WEE1 inhibitor AZD1775-induced ferroptosis to suppress lung cancer growth. Our findings showed that AZD1775 promoted ferroptosis by blocking cystine uptake, an action similar to that of Erastin. Meanwhile, inhibition of WEE1 by the WEE1 inhibitors or si RNAs induced compensatory upregulation of SLC7A11, which conferred resistance to ferroptosis. Mechanistically, AZD1775 prevented the enrichment of H3K9me3, a histone marker of transcriptional repression, on the SLC7A11 promoter by repressing the expression of the histone methyltransferase SETDB1, thereby enhancing NRF2-mediated SLC7A11 transcription. This finding was also validated using the H3K9me3 inhibitor BRD4770. Remarkably, we found that the nucleolar stress-inducing agent Actinomycin D(Act. D) inhibited SLC7A11 expression by activating p53, thus augmenting AZD1775-induced ferroptosis. Moreover, the combination of AZD1775 and Act. D synergistically suppressed wild-type p53-harboring lung cancer cell growth both in vitro and in vivo. Altogether, our study demonstrates that AZD1775 promotes ferroptosis by targeting cystine uptake but also mediates the adaptive activation of SLC7A11 through the WEE1-SETDB1 cascade and NRF2-induced transcription, and inhibition of SLC7A11 by Act. D boosts the anti-tumor efficacy of AZD1775 by enhancing ferroptosis in cancers with wild-type p53.

Stress analysis of full-length grouted bolt under shear deformation of anchor interface

The bolt anchoring force is closely related to the shear properties of the anchor interface. The shear stress distribution of full-length grouted bolts is analyzed based on the stress-strain relationship among the bolt, grout, rock mass and bond interface,considering the shear properties of the grout and contact interface bonding behavior. In this case, the interfacial shear stress of the grout and rock mass and the bolt axial force are obtained under pull-out and normal working conditions. The results show that the peak shear stress of the interface with the shear deformation of the bond interface is significantly lower than that without it when the pull-out force is applied. When designing bolt parameters of grade IV and V rock mass, the relative deformation between the rock mass and anchor should be considered, with a “unimodal” to “bimodal” shear stress *** the case of a low elastic modulus of rock masses,both the shear stress concentration and distribution range are obvious, and the neutral point is near the bolt head. As the elastic modulus increases, the shear stress concentration and distribution range are reduced, and the neutral point moves towards the distal end. As a result, the optimum length of fulllength grouted bolts can be determined by in-situ pull-out tests and decreases with the increased elastic modulus of the rock mass.
