Arsenic methylation and microbial communities in paddy soils under alternating anoxic and oxic conditions

Arsenic(As)methylation in soils affects the environmental behavior of As,excessive accumulation of dimethylarsenate(DMA)in rice plants leads to straighthead disease and a serious drop in crop *** the mobility and transformation of methylated arsenic in redox-changing paddy fields is crucial for food ***,soils including unarsenic contaminated(N-As),low-arsenic(L-As),medium-arsenic(M-As),and high-arsenic(H-As)soils were incubated under continuous anoxic,continuous oxic,and consecutive anoxic/oxic treatments respectively,to profile arsenic methylating process and microbial species involved in the As *** anoxic-oxic(A-O)treatment,methylated arsenic was significantly increased once oxygen was introduced into the incubation *** methylated arsenic concentrations were up to 2-24 times higher than those in anoxic(A),oxic(O),and oxic-anoxic(O-A)treatments,under which arsenic was methylated slightly and then decreased in all four As concentration *** fact,the most plentiful arsenite S-adenosylmethionine methyltransferase genes(arsM)contributed to the increase in As ***(40.8%-62.4%),Firmicutes(3.5%-15.7%),and Desulfobacterota(5.3%-13.3%)were the major microorganisms related to this *** microbial increasedmarkedly and played more important roles after oxygen was introduced,indicating that they were potential keystone microbial groups for As methylation in the alternating anoxic(flooding)and oxic(drainage)*** novel findings provided newinsights into the reoxidation-driven arsenic methylation processes and the model could be used for further risk estimation in periodically flooded paddy fields.

Unveiling the superior hydrogen evolution reaction activity of 1T-2H MoS_(2)heterointerface by on-chip microdevices

The identification and clarification of active sites of MoS_(2)have long been the focus of research efforts in hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).In this study,we constructed phase transition-induced 1T-2H MoS_(2)heterojunction via lithium intercalation and evaluated the HER activity using on-chip electrocatalytic microdevices(OCEMs).The heterojunction achieved an overpotential of only 226 mV at a cathodic current density of 10 mA/cm^(2),outperforming the basal planes of 1T and 2H MoS_(2).Furthermore,density functional theory(DFT)calculations demonstrated that the charge redistribution occurs at the 1T-2H MoS_(2)interface with electrons transferring from 1T to 2H MoS_(2),and the interfacial S atom at the top site of 1T MoS_(2)presents the smallest overpotential of 0.37 ***,the interference from highly active edge sites was avoided by precisely exposing specific active areas,quantitatively revealing the catalytic activity order of different types of in-plane MoS_(2)active *** work enables a systematic investigation of the HER activity of various active sites in MoS_(2),laying the foundation for quantitative analysis of activity in other lowdimensional materials.

Non-metal plasmonic TiN sensitized 2D CdS nanosheet arrays for efficient visible light-driven photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution and photocatalytic degradation performance

Here, a novel non-metal plasmonic TiN sensitized two-dimensional（2D） CdS nanosheet arrays（NSAs） were constructed for high-efficiency photoelectrochemical（PEC） hydrogen evolution as well as photocatalytic pollutant degradation under bias-free visible light illumination for the first time. For this patent heterogeneous nanostructures, the large surface area enables 2D CdS NSAs further to facilitate visible light absorption, as well as afford much active regions to absorb TiN nanoparticles（NPs） for boosting light energy utilization through the wide surface plasmon resonance（SPR） absorption feature of TiN. Additionally, the numerous SPR-induced TiN hot electron injection into 2D CdS efficiently augment carrier concentration. Moreover, the establishment of Schottky junction between CdS nanosheet and TiN NPs is in favour of charge migration and separation. The optimized 2D CdS/TiN NSAs achieved an obviously enhanced hydrogen production rate up to 217.2 μmol h-1,2.02-fold higher than that of pure 2D CdS NSAs. Furthermore, the organic dye Congo red degradation efficiency on the 2D CdS/TiN NSAs reached up to 93.1 % under visible light irradiation for 120 min. The remarkably enhanced photocatalytic pollutant degradation and PEC hydrogen evolution of the 2D CdS/TiN NSAs can be attributed to the cooperative action of CdS/TiN Schottky junction and SPR effect of TiN. The demonstrations of present study offer new insights into designing non-metal-based plasmonic photocatalysts for high-efficiency PEC hydrogen generation and photocatalytic pollutant degradation from the perspectives of the visible light absorption and carrier separation and injection.

Early identification and treatment of stroke can greatly improve patient outcomes and quality of *** clinical tests such as the Cincinnati Pre-hospital Stroke Scale(CPSS)and the Face Arm Speech Test(FAST)are commonly used for stroke screening,accurate administration is dependent on specialized *** this study,we proposed a novel multimodal deep learning approach,based on the FAST,for assessing suspected stroke patients exhibiting symptoms such as limb weakness,facial paresis,and speech disorders in acute *** collected a dataset comprising videos and audio recordings of emergency room patients performing designated limb movements,facial expressions,and speech tests based on the *** compared the constructed deep learning model,which was designed to process multi-modal datasets,with six prior models that achieved good action classification performance,including the I3D,SlowFast,X3D,TPN,TimeSformer,and *** found that the findings of our deep learning model had a higher clinical value compared with the other ***,the multi-modal model outperformed its single-module variants,highlighting the benefit of utilizing multiple types of patient data,such as action videos and speech *** results indicate that a multi-modal deep learning model combined with the FAST could greatly improve the accuracy and sensitivity of early stroke identification of stroke,thus providing a practical and powerful tool for assessing stroke patients in an emergency clinical setting.

Polychlorinated naphthalenes(PCNs)are detrimental to human health and the *** the commercial production of PCNs banned,unintentional releases have emerged as a significant environmental ***,relevant information is still *** this study,provincial emissions for eight PCNs homologues from 37 sources in the Chinese mainland during the period of 1960-2019 were estimated based on a source-specific and time-varying emission factor *** results showed that the total PCNs emissions in 2019 reached 757.0 kg with Hebei ranked at the top among all the provinces and iron&steel industry as the biggest ***-chlorinated PCNs comprised 90%of emissions by mass,while highly chlorinated PCNs dominated in terms of toxicity,highlighting divergent priorities for mitigating emissions and safeguarding human *** emissions showed an overall upward trend from 1960 to 2019 driven by emission increase from iron&steel industry in terms of source,and from North China and East China in terms of geographic ***-capita emissions followed an inverted U-shaped environmental Kuznets curvewhile emission intensities decreased with increasing per-capita Gross Domestic Product(GDP)following a nearly linear pattern when log-transformed.

A Method to Assess the Applicability and Accuracy of the Modified Gaussian Model(MGM) on the Rock Samples' Spectral Interpretation

The Chang’e-4 mission obtained spectral data of multiple rock targets on the lunar *** Modified Gaussian Model (MGM) is usually applied to the spectral interpretation of powder samples,its applicability and accuracy on the rock targets remain to be further *** rock slice of lunar meteorite NWA 4734 is used to conduct comprehensive analysis of the petrography,mineralogy and laboratory spectroscopy,which will provide important ground truth for the MGM interpretation of lunar in situ spectra of rock ***,a scanning electron microscope (SEM),Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS),and Electron Probe Micro-Analyzer (EPMA) analysis results indicate that:(1) almost all plagioclase in NWA 4734 have been converted to maskelynites,which indicate that the meteorite has undergone severe impact metamorphism;(2) the chemical composition of pyroxene and olivine is significantly heterogeneous,showing a distribution characteristic of magnesium-rich core and iron-rich rim,further indicating that NWA 4734 has undergone multiple crystallization and ***,this article focuses on the rock slice of NWA 4734's greyscale image of the Back Scattering Electron (BSE),and obtains the proportion of High-Calcium Pyroxene (HCP) in the total pyroxenes of this sample by calculating the area percentage using the pixel counting *** result shows that the proportion of HCP is 72%±5.4%,which can be used as a ground truth to evaluate the interpretation applicability and accuracy of MGM.A field spectrometer (ASD) is used to measure the visible and near-infrared reflectance spectra (450–2500 nm) of the rock slice from NWA 4734 in the same area as the BSE image obtained by SEM,and MGM is used to deconvolve the ASD spectra,and the average proportion of HCP is estimated to be 71%±10.1%.The results between the MGM and the pixel counting are comparable within the error range,which demonstrates the applicability of MGM on interpretation of the rock samples on the lu

BACKGROUND The relationship between autoimmune gastritis(AIG)and gastric polyps(GPs)is not well *** To explore the clinical characteristics and risk factors of AIG with GPs in *** This double center retrospective study included 530 patients diagnosed with AIG from July 2019 to July *** collected clinical,biochemical,serological,and demographic data were of each *** regression analyses,both multivariate and univariate,were conducted to pinpoint independent risk factors for GPs in patients with AIG *** operating characteristic curves were utilized to establish the optimal cutoff values,sensitivity,and specificity of these risk factors for predicting GPs in patients with *** Patients with GPs had a higher median age than those without GPs[61(52.25-69)years vs 58(47-66)years,P=0.006].The gastrin-17 levels were significantly elevated in patients with GPs compared with those without GPs[91.9(34.2-138.9)pmol/mL vs 60.9(12.6-98.4)pmol/mL,P<0.001].Additionally,the positive rate of parietal cell antibody(PCA)antibody was higher in these patients than in those without GPs(88.6%vs 73.6%,P<0.001).Multivariate and univariate analyses revealed that PCA positivity[odds ratio(OR)=2.003,P=0.017],pepsinogen II(OR=1.053,P=0.015),and enterochromaffin like cells hyperplasia(OR=3.116,P<0.001)were significant risk factors for GPs,while pepsinogen I was identified as a protective *** PCA positivity and enterochromaffin like cells hyperplasia are significant risk factor for the development of GPs in patients with *** gastrin-17 levels may also play a role in this *** findings suggest potential targets for further research and therapeutic intervention in managing GPs in patients with AIG.
