Discovering differential protein expression caused by CagA-induced ERK pathway activation in AGS cells using the SELDI-ProteinChip platform

AIM： To identify the protein expression differences related to the CagA-induced ERK pathway activation in AGS cells. METHODS： Human AGS cells transfected with cagA and blank vector were treated with specific mitogenactivated protein kinase kinase （MEK） inhibitor. Total cell proteins were combined by strong anion exchange （SAX2） and weak cation exchange （CM10） ProteinChip arrays and analyzed using surface-enhanced laser desorption/ ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry （SELDI-TOF- MS） proteomics technology. Protein expression profiles were compared with those of inhibitor-untreated cagA transfectants. SwissProt/TrEMBL database searching for differentially expressed proteins was carried out using the TagIdent tool with the pI and mass information. RESULTS： When a total of 16 proteins that showed expression differences in inhibitor-untreated cagA transfectants were compared with vector transfectants, three proteins with m/z 4229, 8162 and 9084 were found to have no expression differences after treatment with MEK inhibitor, while the other 13 maintained the same expression differences after inhibitor treatment. Seven pieces of meaningful matching information for the three proteins were obtained from database searching. CONCLUSION： Biomarkers with m/z 4229, 8162 and 9084 are ERKI/2 phosphorylation dependent, andtherefore are the downstream molecules of ERK1/2 in the ERK/MAPK signaling pathway. The three biomarkers may be important cancer-associated proteins according to SwissProt/TrEMBL database information.

BACKGROUND： Laparoscopic cholecystectomy（LC） is one of the most frequent abdominal surgical procedures. The present meta-analysis aimed to estimate the clinical effects of implementing a clinical pathway for LC compared with standard medical care by evaluating the length of hospital stay,costs, and the outcomes of patients undergoing *** SOURCES： Data were extracted from the following databases： PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Chinese Medical Citation Index（CMCI）,Chinese Medical Current Contents（CMCC）, and China BioMedical Literature Database（CBM）. We also searched the reference lists of the relevant articles and conference *** randomized controlled trials and controlled clinical trials published from 1980 to 2013 were included. We did not set restrictions on language and country of publications. All of the data were evaluated and analyzed by two reviewers independently with RevMan software（version 5.0）.RESULTS： A total of 7 trials with 1187 patients were *** patients who underwent LC with clinical pathway had shorter hospital stay [weighted mean difference=-1.90, 95%CI：-2.65 to-1.16, P〈0.00001], lower cost [standard mean difference=-0.69, 95% CI：-0.82 to-0.56, P〈0.00001], and better questionnaires based satisfaction with the medical ***： The applications of the clinical pathway for LC effectively reduced hospital stay and total costs. However,there was insufficient evidence for proving the differences in postoperative complications. Future research should focus on patient outcomes and identify the mechanisms underlying the effect of the clinical pathway.

Optical properties of GaN-based light-emitting diodes(LEDs)are studied numerically by using AlGaN and InAlN electron-blocking layers(EBLs).Through the simulations of emission spectra,carrier concentration distribution,energy band,electrostatic field,internal quantum efficiency and output power,the results show that the LEDs with design of the InAlN EBL structure have a better performance over the original LEDs using an AlGaN *** spectrum intensity and output power are enhanced significantly,and the efficiency droop of internal quantum efficiency is improved effectively with this design of InAlN EBL *** is proved that the strengths of carrier confinement and electron leakage current play a critical role in the performance of luminescence in LEDs.

Comparative study on the corrosion behavior of X52, 3Cr, and 13Cr steel in an O2–H2O–CO2 system: products, reaction kinetics, and pitting sensitivity

The corrosion behaviors of X52, 3Cr low-alloy steel, and 13Cr stainless steel were investigated in an O_2–H2O–CO_2 environment at various temperatures and O_2–CO_2 partial-pressure ratios. The results showed that the corrosion rates of X52, 3Cr, and 13Cr steels increased with increasing temperature. The corrosion rates slowly increased at temperatures less than 100°C and increased sharply when the temperature exceeded 100°C. In the absence of O_2, X52, 3Cr, and 13Cr exhibited uniform corrosion morphology and Fe CO3 was the main corrosion product. When O_2 was introduced into the system, various forms of Fe_2O_3 appeared on the surface of the samples. The Cr content strongly influenced the corrosion resistance. The 3Cr steel with a low Cr content was more sensitive to pitting than the X52 or 13Cr steel. Thus, pitting occurred on the surface of 3Cr when 1.25 MPa of O_2 was added; this phenomenon is related to the non-uniform distribution of Crin 3Cr.

Objectives To study the association of single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） rs2076185 in chromosome 6p24.1 with the premature coronary artery diseases （PCAD） in Chinese Hun population. Methods A total of 1382 patients were divided into the PCAD group and the control group based on their coronary arteriography （CAG） results. Their SNP rs2076185 were analyzed by the mass-spectrometry. Their allele and genotype frequency in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium were calculated for assessment. Logistic regression was employed to remove confounding factors and correlate SNP rs2076185 with PCAD. Results The allele and genotype frequencies of the control group were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium （P 〉 0.05）. The frequencies of allele G of rs2076185 were 54.2% in the PCAD group and 49.5% in the control group. The difference was significant （P = 0.042）. The genotype distribution ofrs2076185 of the two groups was also significantly different. The univariate analysis showed that the rs2076185 polymorphisms were associated with the PCAD only in the additive model （OR： 0.828, 95% CI： 0.711-0.964, P = 0.014）, and in the dominant model （OR： 0.753, 95% CI： 0.591-0.958, P = 0.021）. After removing the confound- ing variables, the rs2076185 polymorphisms was associated with PCAD in the additive model （OR： 0.775, 95% CI： 0.648-0.928, P = 0.005）, in the dominant model （OR： 0.698, 95% CI： 0.527-0.925, P = 0.012）, and in the recessive model （OR： 0.804, 95% CI： 0.538-0.983, P - 0.038）. Conclusion Allele G of rs2076185 reduces the PCAD risks in Chinese Hun population, therefore it could be a coronary artery diseases protective factor in Chinese Hun population.

Parikh-Wilzcek＇s recent work, which treats the Hawking radiation as semi-classical tunneling process from the event horizon of static Schwarzshild and Reissner-Nordstroem black holes, indicates that the factually radiant spectrum deviates from the precisely thermal spectrum after taking the self-gravitation interaction into account. In this paper, we extend Parikh-Wilzcek＇s work to research the Hawking radiation via tunneling from new form of rotating Kerr-Newman solution and obtain a corrected radiant spectrum, which is related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, and is not pure thermal, but is consistent with the underlying unitary theory. Meanwhile, we point out that the information conservation is only suitable for the reversible process and in highly unstable evaporating black hole （irreversible process） the information loss is possible.
