Functionalization of graphene-based materials using chemical moieties not only modify the electronic structure of the underlying graphene but also enable in limited enhancement of targeted *** modification of graphene-based materials using other nanostructures enhances the effective properties by minimally modifying the properties of pristine graphene *** this pursuit,we have synthesized bio-inspired hierarchical nanostructures based on Ni–Co layered double hydroxide on reduced graphene oxide core–shells using template based wet chemical *** material synthesized have been characterized structurally and *** fabricated dendritic morphology of the composite delivers a high specific capacity of 1056 Cg^(−1).A cost effective solid state hybrid supercapacitor device was also fabricated using the synthesized electrode material which shows excellent performance with high energy density and fast charging capability.

AIM To determine percentage of patients of necrotizing pancreatitis(NP) requiring intervention and the types of interventions performed. Outcomes of patients of step up necrosectomy to those of direct necrosectomy were compared. Operative mortality, overall mortality, morbidity and overall length of stay were determined. METHOdS After institutional ethics committee clearance and waiver of consent, records of patients of pancreatitis were reviewed. After excluding patients as per criteria, epidemiologic and clinical data of patients of NP was noted. Treatment protocol was reviewed. data of patients in whom stepup approach was used was compared to those in whom it was not used. RESULTS A total of 41 interventions were required in 39% patients. About 60% interventions targeted the pancreatic necrosis while the rest were required to deal with the complications of the necrosis. Image guided percutaneous catheter drainage was done in 9 patients for infected necrosis all of whom required further necrosectomy and in 3 patients with sterile necrosis. direct retroperitoneal or anterior necrosectomy was performed in 15 patients. The average time to first intervention was 19.6 d in the non step-up group(range 11-36) vs 18.22 d in the Step-up group(range 13-25). The average hospital stay in non step-up group was 33.3 d vs 38 d in step up group. The mortality in the step-up group was 0%(0/9) vs 13%(2/15) in the non step up group. Overall mortality was 10.3% while post-operative mortality was 8.3%. Average hospital stay was 22.25 *** Early conservative management plays an important role in management of NP. In patients who require intervention, the approach used and the timing of intervention should be based upon the clinical condition and local expertise available. delaying intervention and use of minimal invasive means when intervention is necessary is desirable. BACKGROUNd:Evidence exists of a link between chronic infection by Salmonella typhi(***) and the development of gallbladder cancer(GBC),but several studies from endemic regions contradict its role in the etiopathogenesis of *** study used various tools to assess the prevalence of *** in patients with GBC and gallstone disease(GSd) in this region with a high incidence of ***:*** was detected in tissue and bile by PCR and culture and in serum by the Widal test and indirect hemagglutination assay(IHA).PCR with two pairs of *** specific primers(flagellin gene H1d and SOP E gene) could detect 0.6 ng of *** ***-four patients with GBC(cases) were matched with 54 patients with GSd(controls).RESULTS:Of the 54 cases,24(44.44%) were positive on the Widal test and 12(22.22%) on IHA,compared to 13(24.07%) and 5(9.26%) respectively in the ***(33.33%) cases showed a positive result on PCR(tissue) and 2 on PCR(bile) *** in the *** culture revealed no Salmonella colonies in either cases or *** 3 cases were positive for Salmonella on tissue culture compared to none in the *** sensitivity of PCR(tissue) relative to the Widal test,IHA,culture(bile and tissue) and PCR(bile) was 100% vs.66.67%,11.11%,and 11.11%,and the specificity was 83.33% vs.100%,100%,and 100%,***:*** is significantly associated with GBC compared to GSd(33% vs.0%).PCR appears to be the most specific diagnostic tool,the gold standard for *** in tissue samples.

BACKGROUNd:The ideal treatment of patients with 'borderline resectable pancreatic tumors (BRTs)' needs to be *** protocols advise neoadjuvant chemo(radio)therapy,although some patients may appear to have BRT on preoperative imaging and a complete resection may be achieved without the need for vascular *** aim of the present study was to identify specific findings on preoperative imaging that could help predict in which patients with BRT a complete resection,with or without vascular resection (VR),could be ***:Twelve patients with BRTs were *** location,maximum degree of circumferential contact (CC),length of contact of the tumor with major vessels (LC),and luminal narrowing of vessels at the point of contact with the tumor (venous deformity,Vd) were graded on preoperatively acquired multidetector computed tomography (MdCT) images and then compared with the intraoperative findings and need for ***:A complete resection (R0) was achieved in 10 patients with 2 having microscopic positive margins (R1) on histopathology at the uncinate *** of the 10 patients required VR (40%).In 3 of the 4 patients whose tumors required VRs,CC was ≥grade III and Vd was grade *** did not influence the need for ***:It is possible to achieve a complete resection at the first instance in patients found to have BRTs on preoperative *** MdCT-based grading systems and our proposed criteria may help identify such patients,thus avoiding any delay in curative resections in such patients.

This study presents a laboratory investigation of load-settlement behaviour of a strip footing resting on iron ore tailings used as a structural *** footing was placed at various depths in the tailings *** relative density of the tailings was varied as d_r = 50%,70%and 90%.An incremental load was applied on the footing while observing the settlement until the failure took *** results obtained for tailings were compared with those for the sandy *** is observed that the load-bearing capacity and stiffness increase with an increase in footing embedment depth and relative *** to load-settlement behaviour of Perth sandy soil,the tailings fill could have as high as 22 times and 13.5 times the load-bearing capacity and stiffness,***,the replacement of sandy soil with iron ore tailings for structural fills is cost-effective,and moreover,this application contributes to environmental sustainability in construction.

Functional materials with designer morphologies are anticipated to be the next generation materials for energy storage *** this manuscript,we have developed a holistic approach to enhance the surface area and hence the properties of nanostructures by synthesizing coronal nanohybrids of *** nanohybrids provide distinctive advantages in terms of performance and stability over vertically stacked nanocomposites reported in *** double hydroxide materials self-assembled as coronal lamellae on graphene shells have been synthesized and systematically *** coronal nanohybrids result in about a threefold increase in energy storage capacity as compared to their traditionally synthesized nanocomposite *** 3d graphene-based nanofibrils in the synthesized coronal nanohybrids provide mechanical support and connect the nodes of the double hydroxide lattices to inhibit *** morphologies such as coronal nanostructures increase the interaction surface of the nanostructure *** an approach is also expected to bring a paradigm shift in development of functional materials for various applications such as sensors,energy storage,and catalysis.

In this paper,a nonlinear mathematical model is proposed and analyzed to study the depletion of forestry resources caused simultaneously by population and population pressure augmented *** control of population pressure,using economic efforts is also considered in the modeling *** is assumed that cumulative biomass density of forestry resources and the density of population follow logistic *** is further assumed that the density of population and the level of industrialization increase as the cumulative biomass density of forestry resources *** cumulative density of economic efforts,which are applied to control the population pressure,is considered to be proportional to the population *** model analysis shows that as the population pressure increases,the level of industrialization increases leading to decrease in the cumulative biomass density of forestry *** is found that if population pressure is controlled by using some economic efforts,the decrease in cumulative biomass density of forestry resources can be made much less than the case when no control is *** is also noted that if the population pressure augmented industrialization increases without control,the forestry resources may become extinct.

Laparoscopic Hemi-Hysterectomy-Retrospective Study of Case Series of over 9 Years

Background: Word hemi-hysterectomy and removal of rudimentary functional horn may be used interchangeably in published data. The same term may be used when a non-obstructive hemi-uterus is removed when there is an associated pathology. The article tries to standardise classification of Mullerian dysgenesis where this procedure is required according to ESHRE ESGE classification, preoperative diagnosis and discuss the operative details. Objective: The objective was to study the demographic profile, symptoms, association of endometriosis, variation in the anatomy, accuracy of preoperative diagnosis, to classify according to ESHRE ESGE classification and to standardize the laparoscopic surgical steps of hemi-hysterectomy. Study design: This is a retrospective case series of cases of Mullerian dysgenesis with obstructive hemi-uterus or non-obstructive hemi-uterus with pathology treated by laparoscopic hemi-hysterectomy. (Canadian task force classification III). Methods: data from hospital electronic records of all cases tagged with word laparoscopic hemi-hysterectomy were collected for 9 years from Jan 2009 to dec 2018. Results: Total 19 patients of hemi-hysterectomy were analysed. Pre-operative diagnosis was made in 100% of patients. 100% patients with obstructive horn had dysmenorrhoea. ESHRE ESGE class U4aC3V0 was more frequently seen followed by U5aC4V4 and U3bC3V2 as obstructive and U4bC3V0, as non-obstructive. Associated endometriosis along with other pathology was seen in 74% of the patients. 3 patients with HWWS had ipsilateral renal agenesis. Laparoscopic hemi-hysterectomy was offered to all such patients. The operative steps & variants were studied. Post-operative outcome was uneventful in all. Conclusion: An experienced surgeon should deal with these problems of Mullerian dysgenesis discussed in this study. The other variants diagnosed also must be treated by an experienced surgeon only.
