Biomass-derived electrodes inherently containing redox-active species have gained extensive attention recently due to their availability,eco-friendliness,sustainability,and low *** report novel binder-free faradic surface redox onion-derived carbon positive electrode with nano regime particles by hydrothermal synthesis and Na^(+)and Cl^(−)ions diffused porous carbon negative electrode via a carbonization ***-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the presence of oxidized sulfur and(N-6)pyridinic N-based redox groups inherently present in the as-prepared *** electrochemical analysis of the positive electrode revealed its faradic redox type of energy storage mechanism with an excellent specific capacitance of 1805 Fg^(-1) at the current density of 3 Ag^(-1) as well as appreciable long-term cycling stability(76.8%retention after 10000 charge-discharge cycles).Meanwhile,the negative electrode exhibited a maximum specific capacitance of 373 Fg^(-1) at 1 Ag^(-1) with outstanding long-term cycling stability(100.7%retention after 10000 cycles).The fabricated polyvinyl alcohol-potassium hydroxide gel electrolyte-based quasi-solid-state hybrid supercapacitor(QHSC)delivered excellent energy density and power density of 19.94 Wh kg^(-1) and 374.99 W kg^(-1),respectively with an ultralong cyclic life(102.3% retention)over 10000 ***,the QHSC was connected to a solar panel to store renewable *** charged QHSC effectively powered a speedometer,enlightening its potential application in advanced sustainable energy storage systems.

The Indian summer monsoon exhibits considerable spatio-temporal *** is therefore important to understand its dynamics and the inherent *** this study,we have performed spectral and wavelet analyses of magnetic susceptibility data for sediments from Thimmannanayakanakere(TK)-a small lake in southern *** main objective of this investigation is to identify and explain the possible origin of the prominent periodicities present in the magnetic susceptibility *** periodicities in the TK χ_(lf)data are centered at 906,232,147,128,96,61,54 and 44 years,which might have a solar *** wavelet power spectrum of the raw and detrended χ_(lf)data confirms the findings of spectral analysis and also provides temporal variations of the significant cyclicities during the past3700 *** *** correlation is documented between sunspot activity and TK xif data;crossspectral analysis of the reconstructed sunspot data and TK xif data suggest that there is a strong coherence between the two datasets as significant periodicities are documented in *** is a good match between the TK xif and the reconstructed total solar irradiance data for the past 1200 ***,an out-of-phase relationship is documented at certain time-intervals,which may be attributed to uncertainties in the age-depth *** results obtained from this study show that solar variations are the main controlling factor of the southwest monsoon and,like other archives from different regions in India,the TK lake sediments have also recorded these solar signatures.

Surface-engineered binder-free PEDOT shielded nickel magnesium selenide nanosheet arrays electrode for ultralong-life flexible quasi-solid-state hybrid supercapacitors

Together with the development of high-performance advanced electronics,flexible supercapacitors(SCs)with tailored nanostructures have great *** deposited nanosheet arrays of nickel magnesium selenide(NixMg3-xSe4,NMgS)with high capacitance provide high potentials as a positive electrode in flexible *** further enhance their electrochemical properties and long-term cycling stability,a promising strategy of surface engineering with conducting polymer poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT)is *** present work proposes the construction of PEDOT shielded NMgS(P@NMgS-2)on a flexible carbon cloth substrate via a hierarchical electrodeposition *** from the synergistic effect,the P@NMgS-2 exhibits an excellent areal capacitance value of 1440 mF cm^(-2)at 4 mA cm^(-2).A novel shape-adaptable polymer gel electrolyte-assisted flexible quasi-solid-state hybrid SC(FQHSC)device constructed with P@NMgS-2 as a positive electrode and activated carbon as a negative electrode demonstrates the maximum power and energy density values of 14.13 mW cm^(-2)and 0.18 mWh cm^(-2),respectively,followed by outstanding cycling stability(∼100%capacitance retention over 50,000 cycles).Furthermore,the FQHSC device successfully powered electronic devices with no serious degradation upon bending and twisting for wearable electronic applications.

Trusted Cluster-Based Communication for Wireless Sensor Network Using Meta-Heuristic Algorithms

The mobile transient and sensor network’s routing algorithm detects available multi-hop paths between source and destination ***,some methods are not as reliable or trustworthy as ***,finding a reliable method is an important factor in improving communication *** further enhancement of protected communication,we suggest a trust cluster based secure routing(TCSR)framework for wireless sensor network(WSN)using optimization ***,we introduce an efficient cluster formation using a modified tug of war optimization(MTWO)algorithm,which provides loadbalanced clusters for energy-efficient data ***,we illustrate the optimal head selection using multiple design constraints received signal strength,congestion rate,data loss rate,and throughput of the *** parameters are optimized by a butterfly optimal deep neural network(BO-DNN),which provides first-level security towards the selection of the best head ***,we utilize the lightweight signcryption to encrypt the data between two nodes during data transmission,which provides second-level *** model provides an estimation of the trust level of each route to help a source node to select the most secure *** nodes of the network improve reliability and security by maintaining the reliability *** results showed that the proposed scheme achieved 45.6%of delivery ratio.

Energy Efficient Load Balancing and Routing Using Multi-Objective Based Algorithm in WSN

In wireless sensor network(WSN),the gateways which are placed far away from the base station(BS)forward the collected data to the BS through the gateways which are nearer to the *** leads to more energy consumption because the gateways nearer to the BS manages heavy trafﬁc ***,to over-come this issue,loads around the gateways are to be balanced by presenting energy efﬁcient clustering ***,to enhance the lifetime of the net-work,optimal routing path is to be established between the source node and *** energy efﬁcient load balancing and routing,multi objective based beetle swarm optimization(BSO)algorithm is presented in this *** this algo-rithm,optimal clustering and routing are performed depend on the objective func-tions routingﬁtness and clusteringﬁ*** approach leads to decrease the power *** results show that the performance of the pro-posed BSO based clustering and routing scheme attains better results than that of the existing algorithms in terms of energy consumption,delivery ratio,through-put and network ***,the proposed scheme increases throughput to 72%and network lifetime to 37%as well as it reduces delay to 37%than the existing optimization algorithms based clustering and routing schemes.

Phosphorus partitioning and recovery of low-phosphorus iron-rich compounds through physical separation of Linz-Donawitz slag

The Linz-Donawitz（LD） steelmaking process produces LD slag at a rate of about 125 kg/t. After metallic scrap recovery, the non-metallic LD slag is rejected because its physical/chemical properties are unsuitable for recycling. X-ray diffraction（XRD） studies have indicated that non-metallic LD slag contains a substantial quantity of mineral phases such as di- and tricalcium silicates. The availability of these mineral phases indicates that LD slag can be recycled by iron（Fe）-ore sintering. However, the presence of 1.2wt% phosphorus（P） in the slag renders the material unsuitable for sintering operations. Electron probe microscopic analysis（EPMA） studies indicated concentration of phosphorus in dicalcium silicate phase as calcium phosphate. The Fe-bearing phases（i.e., wustite and dicalcium ferrite） showed comparatively lower concentrations of P compared with other phases in the slag. Attempts were made to lower the P content of LD slag by adopting various beneficiation techniques. Dry high-intensity magnetic separation and jigging were performed on as-received samples with particle sizes of 6 and 3 mm. Spiral separation was conducted using samples ground to sizes of less than 1 and 0.5 mm. Among these studies, grinding to 0.5 mm followed by spiral concentration demonstrated the best results, yielding a concentrate with about 0.75wt% P and 45wt% Fe.

The majority of landslides in the Indian Himalayas are triggered by rainfall and *** geology and geomorphology also play an important role and constitute the major predisposing factor controlling ***,active tectonics modify the landscape,impacting the occurrence and distribution of *** objective of this study is to investigate the role of some of the major predisposing factors to assess landslide patterns in the Yamuna River Basin as it is prone to recurrent landslide *** approach mainly deals with the application of geographical information system-based statistical analysis and quantifying frequency-area distribution of rainfalltriggered landslides for the years 2015 to *** analysis shows that the frequency of landslides is highest in the slope range 40°-70°and the mean landslide size is higher in the slope range 0°-20°and 30°-40°,remaining constant on further increase in slope *** study shows that some critical slope range controls both the frequency and size of *** were mostly restricted to south facing *** 91%of the landslide occur in the drainage density range of 1.2 to 2.1 km/km^(2) while landslides show very low occurrence in either lower(2.1)drainage *** distribution analysis of landslides depicts a distinct cutoff point but an indistinct rollover ***-sampling of small landslides can be a reasonable cause for *** other studies,the present data fits very well for medium and large landslides following an inverse power law with a scaling exponent *** 80% of landslides are smaller than the cutoff size and 20% larger than this *** geology and tectonics of Lesser Himalayas and Sivaliks offer favorable conditions for frequent *** such as Dehradun,Uttarkashi,Sirmaur,Shimla,and Solan are very prone to landslide activity owing to the presence of poorly consolidated sandstone,conglomerate,quartzites,phylli

Measurement of bit-rock interface temperature and wear rate of the tungsten carbide drill bit during rotary drilling

Rock drilling is an essential operation in mining *** at the bit-rock interface plays a major role in the wear rate of the drill *** paper primarily focuses on the wear rate of tungsten carbide(WC)drill bit and the interrelationship between temperature and wear rate during rotary drilling operations conducted using a computer numerical control(CNC)*** interrelationship between the temperature and wear rate was studied with regard to three types of rock samples,i.e.,fine-grained sandstone(FG)of uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)that is 17.83 MPa,medium-grained sandstone(MG)of UCS that is 13.70 MPa,and fine-grained sandstone pink(FGP)of UCS that is 51.67 *** rate of the drill bit has been measured using controlled parameters,i.e.,drill bit diameter(6,8,10,12,and 16 mm),spindle speed(250,300,350,400,and 450 rpm),and penetration rate(2,4,6,8,and 10 mm/min),***,a fully instrumented laboratory drilling set-up was *** weight of each bit was measured after the bit reached 30 mm depth in each type of the rock ***,effects of the bit-rock interface temperature and operational parameters on wear rate of the drill bits were *** results show that the wear rate of drill bits increased with an increase in temperature for all the bit-rock combinations *** is due to the silica content of the rock sample,which leads to an increase in the frictional heat between the bit-rock ***,in case of medium-grained sandstone,the weight percentage(wt%)of SiO2 is around 7.23 wt%,which presents a very low wear rate coefficient of 6.33×10^–2 mg/(N?m).Moreover,the temperature rise during drilling is also minimum,i.e.,around 74℃,in comparison to that of fine-grained sandstone and fine-grained sandstone *** addition,this paper develops the relationship between temperature and wear rate characteristics by employing simple linear regression analysis.

Potential groundwater recharge zones within New Zealand

Water resources in New Zealand are not evenly distributed across the country which makes it difficult to adequately allocate the use of water resources in every basin. Groundwater is a fundamental water resource in New Zealand for agricultural, industrial and domestic use. Detailed knowledge regarding groundwater recharge potential is a pre-requisite for sustainable groundwater management, including the assessment of its vulnerability to contamination by pollutants. In this study, a comprehensive GIS approach was used to map the potential groundwater recharge zones across New Zealand. National data sets of lithology, slope, aspect, land use, soil drainage and drainage density were converted to raster data sets with a spatial resolution of 500 m x 500 m and superimposed to derive groundwater potential zones. The resultant maps demonstrate that the potential is low in urban and mountainous areas, such as the Southern Alps, whereas the highest potential can be found in regions with large lakes and in the lower elevation plains areas, where Quaternary sediments prevail. The resulting maps can be used to identify areas of high nutrient leaching in zones where high groundwater recharge potential exists.
