The present research studies the relationship between place attachment and the perception of form’s visual quality in fifteen outstanding contemporary Iranian architectural cultural *** study puts forward the hypothesis that there is a correlation between the quality of building form and the sense of place attachment,in the sense that creating high visual quality through enhancing the quality of building form increases citizens’initial satisfaction with and subsequent attachment to the *** visual quality influences people’s experience of the environment and improves the quality of *** attachment highlights how people,on a personal level,recreate a sense of place for *** present study adopts the descriptive-analytical method as its theoretical framework and the survey as the empirical *** were developed using the Likert scale and distributed among experts and ordinary *** analysis using SPSS and the adoption of descriptive-analytical statistics,correlation analysis,and regression showed the relationship among the characteristics of *** results show a positive correlation between form and place attachment mediated through visual quality,and they are causal conditions for one *** addition,only some of the buildings under study evoke the same level of place attachment.

In this paper the propagation of elegant Hermite-cosh-Gaussian, elegant Laguerre Gaussian, and Bessel Gaussian beams through a Kerr left-handed metamaterial （LHM） slab have been studied. A split-step Fourier method is used to investigate the propagation of laser beams through this media. Numerical simulation shows that Gaussian beams have different focusing behaviors in a Kerr LHM slab with positive or negative nonlinearity. Beam focusing happens in slabs with positive nonlinearity and not in slabs with negative nonlinearity; however, negative nonlinearity is required for a Kerr LHM slab to act like a lens. Additionally, the focusing properties of beams can be controlled by controlling the thickness of the slab or the input power of the incident beam. A multilayer structure is also proposed to have beam focusing by thinner slabs and passing longer distances.

Equal channel angular pressing(ECAP)is one of the most effective processes to produce ultra-fine grain(UFG)and nanocrystalline(NC)*** the commercially pure titanium exhibits excellent biocompatibility properties,it has a significant potential to be utilized as an implant *** low static and dynamic strengths of the pure titanium are one of the weaknesses of this *** defect can be removed by applying the ECAP process on the pure *** this work,the commercially pure titanium Grade2(CP-Ti of Grade2)was pressed at room temperature by the ECAP process via a channel angle of135°*** microstructural analysis and mechanical tests such as tensile test,hardness test,three-point bending test and Charpy impact test were all carried out on the ECAPed CP-Ti *** microstructural evolution reveals that by applying the ECAP process,coarse grain(CG)structure develops to UFG/NC ***,the results of the mechanical tests show that the process significantly increases the yield and ultimate tensile strengths,bending strength,hardness and fracture toughness of the commercially pure titanium so that it can be used as a replacement for metallic alloys used as biomaterials.

In this paper, a split step ABCD matrix method is suggested to investigate Gaussian beam propagation in a Kerr type metamaterial medium. This method is based on dividing the medium interval into subsequent ***, Gaussian beam profile in every step is obtained by finding the ABCD matrix of that particular step, and is used to find the ABCD matrix of the next step. Results of the suggested matrix method have been compared with the results of numerical split-step Fourier method for a Kerr medium, which indicates a good agreement. Then, we use the ABCD matrix to investigate Gaussian beams propagation in a Kerr type metamaterial, which is also in agreement with pervious results by other methods.

This paper represents numerical simulation of flow inside an axial transonic compressor subject to inlet flow distortion,to evaluate its effect on compressor performance and *** types of inlet distortion,namely inlet swirl and total pressure distortion are *** study the effect of combined distortion patterns,different combinations of inlet swirl and total pressure distortion are also *** for cases with total pressure distortion indicate that hub radial distortion improves stability range of the compressor while tip radial distortion deteriorates *** explanation for this observation is presented based on redistribution of flow parameters caused by distortion and the way it interacts with stall inception mechanisms in a transonic axial *** also show that while co-swirl patterns slightly improve stability range of the compressor,counter-swirl patterns diminish *** of combined distortion cases reveals that superimposition of effects of each individual pattern could predict the effect of a combined pattern on compressor's performance within an accuracy of 1%.However,it is unable to predict the associated effect on compressor's stability.

Soil and water conservation practices have been extensively used in effective watershed *** impact of each conservation practice is site specific and dependent on the implementation site in the *** order to select cost effective placement of conservation practices with high impact,a large number of spatial combinations is needed to be *** this study,an optimization model framework is presented to find cost effective solutions for sediment yield and runoff control in the Fariman dam watershed in the Northeast of *** was accomplished by integrating soil and water assessment tool(SWAT)for simulation of watershed hydrology and multi objective genetic algorithm(NSGA-II)for spatial optimization of soil and water conservation *** optimized solutions provided a trade-off between the two objective *** final Pareto-optimal shows that the impact of soil and water conservation practices on sediment yield is more than stream *** trade-offs between the objective functions show that the implementation of the median cost can lead to a significant decrease of 22.1%in the amount of sediment yield,and 10%in stream ***,percent change achieved through median cost is very close to percent reduction with the highest *** of low cost solution show that the vegetative practices are a suitable economic scenario for soil and water *** introduced framework can be adapted as a suitable tool for selecting cost effective conservation practices in different regions.

High-chromium white cast iron （HCWCI） is one of the most widely used engineering materials in the mining and cement industries. However, in some components, such as the pulverizer plates of ash mills, the poor machinability of HCWCI creates difficulties. The bimetal casting technique is a suitable method for improving the machinability of HCWCI by joining an easily machined layer of plain carbon steel （PCS） to its hard part. In this study, the possibility of PCS/HCWCI bimetal casting was investigated using sand casting. The investigation was conducted by optical and electron microscopy and non-destructive, impact toughness, and tensile tests. The hardness and chemical composition profiles on both sides of the interface were plotted in this study. The results indicated that a conventional and low-cost casting technique could be a reliable method for producing PCSYdCWCI bimetal. The interfacial microstructure comprised two distinct lay- ers： a very fine, partially spheroidized pearlite layer and a coarse full pearlite layer. Moreover, characterization of the microstructure revealed that the interface was free of defects.

Isolation and Identification of the Major Chemical Components Found in the Upper Parts of Teucrium Pofium Plants Grown in Khuzestan Province of Iran

Teucrium polium is a dwarf sub-shrub usually 30-60 cm high with many branches, which is fairly distributed throughout Iran, with its flowering being season mainly from April to July. The plant was collected during its flowering season in Baghmalek region in the North-East of Khuzestan province, Iran. After the identification of the genus, species and variety of the plant, the dried whole plant （flowers, fruits and the leaves） was steam distilled with different methods. The isolated essential oil was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and stored at 4-6 ℃. Analysis of the essential oil was carried out by GC-MS technique. At least 10 major components were identified （3-carene/α-pinene, β-phellandrene, limonene, germacrene, β-bourbonene, β-caryophylene, γ-muurolene, γ-elemene, spathulenol, β-eudesmol）（totally 97.02%）. Also, successive TLC and column chromatography of the essential oil resulted in the separation of four fractions. Based upon 1^H NMR, IR and mass spectra, the fractions with Rf=0.12 and 0.93 were determined as gualol and a mixture of α-pinene, β-phellandrene and limonene, respectively.
