Objective: To investigate association of parity and short pregnancy with obesity and weight change in Aggarwal Baniya women. Method: A cross-sectional analysis was carried out on a representative sample of 307 adult Aggarwal Baniya women aged 30 - 50 years (mean age: 38.7 ± 4.87) using multistage cluster sampling method. Weight, height, various skinfold thicknesses, waist and hip circumference were measured using standardized protocol. Various indices of obesity (BMI, WHR, WHtR, GMT) were calculated subsequently. Comparison groups were defined by the number of births (parity), short pregnancies and total pregnancies. Mean change in weight and other obesity markers were examined for each group separately. Correlation analysis was applied to see the association of childbearing on obesity. Linear regression was applied as an effective measure. Results: There was a gain in weight (3.16 kg) and increase in other obesity markers (BMI: 1.29 kg/m2;WC: 2.38 cm;HC: 3.83 cm) with each increase in each parity. Significant and positive correlation (p 2). Conclusion: Among other risk factors, high parity number may be associated with obesity in women. Therefore, interventions to prevent obesity should be targeted at women prior to initiation of childbearing. However, the impact of reproductive wastage in the form of short pregnancies on women’s obesity needs further exploration.

The system performance has been analyzed for π/4 DQPSK mapping scheme, which is differential in nature and hence adding additional advantage. Performance evaluation with random data as well as some images has been taken. Channel modeling has been performed in multipath fading environment. For elaboration of the concept mathematical modeling has been implemented using computer simulation. In this paper, an attempt is made to know the capabilities of DHT-OFDM with non conventional mapping technique π/4 DQPSK.

An efficient protocol for maintaining the artemisinin content in tissue culture and high frequency of in vitro direct and indirect regenerations of multiple shoots of high artemisinin yielding genotypes of Artemisia annua has been developed and their comparison with field grown mother plant has been carried *** eleven elite genotypes(containing more than 1%artemisinin)were tested on seven different modified media *** half MS(Murashige and Skoog’s)media containing 100 mg L^(-1) myo-inositol,0.5 g L^(-1) casine hydrolysate,5 mg L^(-1) biotin,2 mL L^(-1) RT(Revised Tobacco)vitamin stock,0.5 mg L^(-1) BAP and 0.01 mg L^(-1) NAA showed best regeneration while,above modified MS medium containing 0.2 mg L^(-1) BAP and 0.2 mg L^(-1) NAA showed maximum shoot multiplication with maintained artemisinin *** on the chemical profiles of both the systems,minor difference was observed in their artemisinin content.A large scale culture of these plants maintained the normal growth index along with the artemisinin content and could be a better alternative to maintain the high artemisinin yielding genotypes with their genetic constraint in specific media combinations and also used as base material for further genetic improvement.

Vaccines and Antibodies for Therapeutic Use in Cancers

This review describes briefly the beneficial use of two vaccines developed by us for treatment of cancers. The vaccine against Luteinizing Hormone Releasing Hormone (LHRH) is effective in carcinoma of prostate as well as in breast cancers dependent on androgens and estrogens respectively. LHRH being identical in both males and females, the same vaccine is usable in both Prostate and Breast steroid hormones-dependent-cancers. Monoclonal antibodies are finding therapeutic utility in several cancers, and many have received Drugs Regulatory approval. The monoclonals developed by us against hCG and against epitopes present on androgen-independent castration resistant prostate cancers are briefly recapitulated. Anti-hCG antibodies kill several cancers expressing hCG. An example is given of A549 lung carcinoma. MoAb730 and MoAb7B2G10 kill DU-145 and PC-3 androgen-independent castration resistant prostate cancer cells. Some cancers such as MOLT-4, a T-lymphoblastic leukemia, though expressing hCG are not killed by PiPP, the high affinity anti-hCG antibody. Linking the antibody to curcumin however works like a “Magic Bullet”. All MOLT-4 cells are killed by this conjugate, the antibody homes selectively to cancer cells expressing hCG to deliver curcumin which exercises the killing effect. A recombinant vaccine, hCGβ-LTB (human chorionic gonadotropin subunit β linked to B subunit of heat-labile enterotoxin of E. coli) has been made, which induces high titre bioeffective antibodies not only in BalbC, but also in other genetic strains of mice. The vaccine employs autoclaved Mycobacterium indicus pranii (MiP) as adjuvant. MiP invigorates both humoral and cell mediated immune responses against Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Besides being a potent adjuvant, MiP used alone heals anogenital warts in humans and has the property of preventing and curing SP2/O Myelomas in mice.
