Some ternary carbide and nitride ceramics have been demonstrated to exhibit abnormal thermal shock behavior in mechanical properties. However, the influence of thermal shock on other properties is not clear. This work reports on the influence of thermal shock on electrical conductivity of Ti2SnC as a representative member of ternary carbides. Abnormal change in electrical conductivity was first demonstrated during quenching Ti2SnC in water at 500-800 ℃. The residual electrical conductivity of the quenched Ti2SnC gradually decreased with increasing temperature, but abnormally increased after quenching at 600 ℃. The microstructure of surface cracks was characterized. The main mechanism for the abnormal electrical conductivity recovery is that some narrow branching cracks are filled by metallic Sn precipitating from Ti2SnC.

Two-dimensional(2D)MoB metal borides(MoB MBene)have attracted much attention due to their fascinating properties and functional *** far,work on the synthesis of 2D MoB nanosheets by acid or alkaline etching of MoAlB has not been very *** has been proposed that the 2D MoB MBene may be fabricated by chemical etching of a Mo_(2)AlB_(2) precursor,but further investigations were not performed possibly due to the difficult preparation of the metastable Mo_(2)AlB_(2) compound at high temperatures by solid-state ***,we report on the successful synthesis of the Mo_(2)AlB_(2) compound and 2D MoB nanosheets by the deintercalation of Al from MoAlB through a ZnCl_(2) molten salt etching approach at relatively low *** influence of etching temperature,etching time,and starting mixtures on the formation of desirable phases have been investigated.A pure Mo_(2)AlB_(2) compound was synthesized at temperatures below 600℃,while the 2D MoB MBene nanosheets were obtained at 700℃through the molten salt etching of *** addition,the present work further confirms that the MoB MBene can be prepared by etching the as-synthesized Mo_(2)AlB_(2) precursor in liF–HCl *** work demonstrates that the molten salt etching is an effective method to prepare 2D MoB MBene.

Ti_(2)AlC,a MAX phase ceramic,has an attractive self-healing ability to restore performance via the oxidation-induced crack healing mechanism upon healing at high temperatures in air(high oxygen partial pressures).However,such healing ability to repair damages in vacuum or low oxygen partial pressure conditions remains ***,we report on the self-healing behavior of Ti_(2)AlC at a low oxygen partial pressure of about 1 *** experimental results showed that the strength recovery depends on both healing temperature and *** healing at 1400℃for 1–4 h,the healed samples exhibited the recovered strengths even exceeding the original strength of 375 *** maximum recovered strength of~422 MPa was achieved in the healed Ti_(2)AlC sample after healing at 1400 for 4 h,about 13%higher than the original *** were healed by the formed℃TiCx from the decomposition of Ti_(2)*** decomposition-induced crack healing as a new mechanism in the low oxygen partial pressure condition was disclosed for the MAX *** present study illustrates that key components made of Ti_(2)AlC can prolong their service life and keep their reliability during use at high temperatures in low oxygen partial pressures.

Mechanical properties and frictional resistance of Al composites reinforced with Ti3C2Tx MXene

Two-dimensional(2D)Ti3C2Tx MXene is an attractive additive not only used in base oil due to its low friction coefficient,but also used in composites due to its high aspect ratio and rich surface functional *** far there has been intense research into polymer matrix composites reinforced with Ti3C2Tx,Here we report on the use of 2D Ti3C2Tx to enhance the mechanical and frictional properties of Al matrix ***3C2Tx/Al composites were designed and prepared by pre s sureless sintering followed by hot extrusion *** prepared composites exhibit a homogeneous distribution of *** Vickers hardness and the tensile strength continuously increase with increasing Ti3C2Tx content.A hardness of 0.52 GPa and a tensile strength of 148 MPa were achieved in the 3 wt%Ti3C2Tx/Al *** frictional properties of pure Al and the Ti3C2Tx/Al composite were comparably studied under dry sliding.A low friction coefficient of 0.2,twice lower than that of pure Al,was achieved in the 3 wt%Ti3C2Tx/Al ***3C2Tx acting as a solid lubricant reduces the abrasive wear in the composite,improving the frictional properties of Al matrix composites.

A new Fe matrix composite reinforced by the in-situ generated TiCx grains was prepared using the element Fe and Ti3AlC2 powders as the starting *** hot-pressing temperatures were tried for exploring the phase transformation behavior from Ti3AlC2 to TiC *** of the hot-pressed product were observed and analyzed.A tensile test was carried out for the new composite material,and the fracture face was *** results showed that the starting Ti3AlC2 was wholly decomposed and transformed into submicron TiC x grains at the hotpressing temperature above 1100℃.Most of the Al ions escaped from Ti3AlC2 were aggregated at the grain boundary of Fe grains,but a small amount of Al ions could be absorbed by Fe and formed Fe(Al) alloy around the surface of Fe *** prepared material exhibited a higher tensile strength of about 660 MPa and a uniform deformation of about 7%.

Tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)play an important role in tumor development and *** particular,M2 TAMs can promote tumor growth by facilitating tumor progression and malignant *** targeted elimination of M2 TAMs to inhibit tumor progression is of great significance for cancer *** oxide nanoparticles based magnetic hyperthermia therapy(MHT)is a classical approach to destroy tumor tissue with deep penetration *** this study,we developed a typical M2 macrophage-targeted peptide(M2pep)functionalized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle(SPIO)for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)-guided MHT in an orthotopic breast cancer mouse *** obtained multifunctional SPIO-M2pep with a hydrodynamic diameter of 20 nm showed efficient targeting capability,high transverse relaxivity(149 mM^(-1) s^(-1))and satisfactory magnetic hyperthermia performance in *** vivo studies demonstrated that the SPIO-M2pep based MRI can monitor the distribution of nanoparticles in tumor and indicate the suitable timing for *** M2 macrophage-targeted MHT significantly reduced the tumor volume and the population of pro-tumoral M2 TAMs in *** addition,the SPIO-M2pep based MHT can remodel the tumor immune microenvironment(TIME).The multifunctional SPIO-M2pep with M2 macrophage-targeting ability,high magnetic hyperthermia efficiency,MR imaging capability and effective role in remodeling the TIME hold great potential to improve clinical cancer therapy outcomes.
