Risk factors for gastric cancer:a large-scale,population-based case-control study

Background:Early detection of gastric cancer(GC)has been the topic of major efforts in *** study aimed to explore the risk factors associated with GC and to provide evidence for the selection of a high-risk population of ***:Based on the cancer screening cohort of the National Cancer Screening Program in Urban China,GC patients diagnosed by endoscopy and pathological examinations constituted the case group,and controls were 1:3 matched by sex and age(±5 years)*** variables were selected by univariable analysis of factors such as body mass index(BMI),dietary habits,lifestyle,stomach disease history,and family history of GC;and multivariable logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of GC and to calculate the odds ratio(OR)of related factors and its 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:A total of 215 GC cases and 645 matched healthy controls were included in the final analysis,with a median age of 61 years for the case and control *** analysis showed that high educational level(above primary school)(OR=0.362,95%CI=0.219–0.599,Pjusted ORs of 4.155(95%CI=2.711–6.368),1.839(95%CI=1.028–3.288),and 2.752(95%CI=1.197–6.326).Conclusions:Subjects who smoke,drink,with history of stomach disease and family history of GC in first-degree relatives are the high-risk populations for ***,attention shou

Grain yield and water use efficiency of super rice under soil water deficit and alternate wetting and drying irrigation

This study investigated if super rice could better cope with soil water deficit and if it could have better yield performance and water use efficiency （WUE） under alternate wetting and drying （AWD） irrigation than check rice. Two super rice cultivars and two elite check rice cultivars were grown in pots with three soil moisture levels, well watered （WW）, moderate water deficit （MWD） and severe water deficit （SWD）. Two cultivars, each for super rice and check rice, were grown in field with three irrigation regimes, alternate wetting and moderate drying （AWMD）, alternate wetting and severe drying （AWSD） and conventional irrigation （CI）. Compared with that under WW, grain yield was significantly decreased under MWD and SWD treatments, with less reduction for super rice than for check rice. Super rice had higher percentage of productive tillers, deeper root distribution, higher root oxidation activity, and greater aboveground biomass production at mid and late growth stages than check rice, especially under WMD and WSD. Compared with CI,AWMD increased, whereasAWSD decreased grain yield, with more increase or less decrease for super rice than for check rice. Both MWD and SWD treatments and eitherAWMD orAWSD regime significantly increased WUE compared with WW treatment or CI regime, with more increase for super rice than for check rice. The results suggest that super rice has a stronger ability to cope with soil water deficit and holds greater promising to increase both grain yield and WUE by adoption of moderate AWD irrigation.

Subcutaneous versus Intravenous Bortezomib Administration for Multiple Myeloma Patients：a Meta-analysis

Bortezomib,the first potent therapeutic proteasome inhibitor,has been suggested as a standard care in patients with newly diagnosed and relapsed multiple myeloma（MM）.However,evidence bearing on the efficacy and safety of subcutaneous（SC） versus intravenous（IV） administration of bortezomib for MM patients is *** controlled trials（RCTs） and observational studies were enrolled in our meta-analysis to investigate the efficacy and safety of bortezomib via SC *** administration on MM *** trials with a total of 2575 patients with MM（SC,n=1191;IV,n=1384） were included in our *** were no significant differences between these two arms regarding overall response rate（ORR）,complete response（CR）,or very good partial response（VGPR）.The pooled RRs for rate of adverse events（AEs）,such as thrombocytopenia and bortezomib-induced peripheral neuropathy（BIPN）,were 0.79（95% CI：0.68–0.92） and 0.63（95% CI：0.51–0.79）,***,there was much more largely decreased incidence of grade 3 and higher thrombocytopenia and BIPN in bortezomib SC administration than IV *** general,alternative SC administration should be considered instead of IV administration in use of bortezomib for patients with MM.

This study aimed to investigate the neurotoxicity induced by trichloroacetic acid(TCA)and the possible protective mechanisms of boron(B).Mouse BV2 cells were treated with TCA(0,0.39,0.78,1.56,3.12,6.25,or 12.5 mmol/L)and B(0,7.8,15.6,31.25,62.5,125,500,or 1,000 mmol/L)for 3 h and 24 h,***,reactive oxygen species,and supernatant proinflammatory cytokine and protein levels were analyzed after 24 h of combined *** the dose-dependent decrease in the cellular viability,it clearly increased after B supplementation(P<0.05).Moreover,B decreased oxidative damage,and significantly down-regulated IL-6 levels and up-regulated TNF-βproduction(P<0.05).B also decreased apoptosis via the p53 *** present findings indicated that TCA may induce oxidative damage,whereas B mitigates these adverse effects by decreasing cell apoptosis.

Water Gauge Image Denoising Model Based on Improved Adaptive Total Variation

As an important part of water level warning in water conservancy projects,often due to the influence of environmental factors such as light and stains,the acquired water gauge images have sticky,broken and bright spot conditions,which affect the identification of water *** solve this problem,a water gauge image denoising model based on improved adaptive total variation is ***,the regular term exponent in the adaptive total variational equation is changed to an inverse cosine function;secondly,the differential curvature is used to distinguish the image noise points and increase the smoothing strength at the noise points;finally,according to the characteristics of the gradient mode and adaptive gradient threshold after Gaussian filtering,the New model can adaptively denoise in the smooth area and protect the edge area,so as to have the characteristics of both edge-preserving *** experimental results show that the new model has a great improvement in image vision,higher iteration efficiency and an average increase of 1.6 dB in peak signal-to-noise ratio,and an average increase of 9%in structural similarity,which is more beneficial to practical applications.
