Exosomes:the next-generation therapeutic platform for ischemic stroke

Current therapeutic strategies for ischemic stroke fall short of the desired objective of neurological functional ***,there is an urgent need to develop new methods for the treatment of this *** are natural cell-derived vesicles that mediate signal transduction between cells under physiological and pathological *** have low immunogenicity,good stability,high delivery efficiency,and the ability to cross the blood–brain *** physiological properties of exosomes have the potential to lead to new breakthroughs in the treatment of ischemic *** rapid development of nanotechnology has advanced the application of engineered exosomes,which can effectively improve targeting ability,enhance therapeutic efficacy,and minimize the dosages *** in technology have also driven clinical translational research on *** this review,we describe the therapeutic effects of exosomes and their positive roles in current treatment strategies for ischemic stroke,including their antiinflammation,anti-apoptosis,autophagy-regulation,angiogenesis,neurogenesis,and glial scar formation reduction ***,it is worth noting that,despite their significant therapeutic potential,there remains a dearth of standardized characterization methods and efficient isolation techniques capable of producing highly purified *** optimization strategies should prioritize the exploration of suitable isolation techniques and the establishment of unified workflows to effectively harness exosomes for diagnostic or therapeutic applications in ischemic ***,our review aims to summarize our understanding of exosome-based treatment prospects in ischemic stroke and foster innovative ideas for the development of exosome-based therapies.

Effects of sediment load on the abrasion of soil aggregate and hydraulic parameters in experimental overland flow

The breakdown of soil aggregates under rainfall and their abrasion in overland flow are important processes in water erosion due to the production of more fine and transportable particles and,the subsequent significant effect on the erosion ***,little is known about the effects of sediment load on the soil aggregate abrasion and the relationship of this abrasion with some related hydraulic ***,the potential effects of sediment load on soil aggregate abrasion and hydraulic parameters in overland flow were investigated through a series of experiments in a 3.8-m-long hydraulic flume at the slope gradients of 8.7 and 26.8%,unit flow discharges from 2×10^-3 to 6×10^-3 m^2 s^-1,and the sediment concentration from 0 to 110 kg *** the aggregates from Ultisols developed Quaternary red clay,Central *** results indicated that discharge had the most significant(Pfactor,and shear stress increased as a power function along with the increase of sediment concentration at different slope gradients and *** number was obviously affected by sediment concentration and it decreased as sediment concentration *** ratio of the residual weight to the initial weight of soil aggregates(Wr/Wi)was found to increase as the linear function with an increasing flow depth(P=0.008)or Reynolds number(P=0.002)in the sediment-laden *** Wr/Wi values followed a power function decrease with increasing friction factor or shear stress in the sediment-laden flow,indicating that friction factor is the best hydraulic parameter for prediction of soil aggregate abrasion under different sediment load conditio

The management of acute ischemic stroke remains challenging due to its abrupt onset and the narrow treatment window,resulting in high rates of disability and *** therapy for neuroprotection and neurorepair strategies provided new hopes for subacute stroke *** we designed a multistage nanodelivery system that matches the unique microenvironment of the subacute phase of stroke,which utilizes calixarene as a building block to effectively load the neuroprotective drug *** calixarene is designed with glycosidic linkages targeting the glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1)on the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and azo bonds that are responsive to hypoxic ***,the decomposed calixarene molecules themselves possess intrinsic bio-activation to modulate inflammatory responses,achieving a multistage therapeutic approach that transitions from targeting to release and finally to *** approach combines anti-inflammation and neuroprotection,providing a multi-level treatment *** system was validated in a rat model of permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO),demonstrating that intravenous administration of the nanodelivery system repairs brain damage and improves motor function 24 h post-pMCAO *** work offers a precise and integrative strategy for stroke patients missing the acute therapy window to improve functional recovery and enhance the effect of comprehensive treatment.

Nanograting‑Based Dynamic Structural Colors Using Heterogeneous Materials

Dynamic structuralcolors can change in response todifferent environmental *** ability remains effectiveeven when the size of the speciesresponsible for the structural coloris reduced to a few micrometers,providing a promising sensingmechanism for solving microenvironmentalsensing problems inmicro-robotics and ***, the lack of dynamicstructural colors that can encoderapidly, easily integrate, and accuratelyreflect changes in physical quantities hinders their use in microscale sensing applications. Herein, we present a 2.5-dimensionaldynamic structural color based on nanogratings of heterogeneous materials, which were obtained by interweaving a pH-responsive hydrogelwith an IP-L photoresist. Transverse gratings printed with pH-responsive hydrogels elongated the period of longitudinal grating in the swollenstate, resulting in pH-tuned structural colors at a 45° incidence. Moreover, the patterned encoding and array printing of dynamic structuralcolors were achieved using grayscale stripe images to accurately encode the periods and heights of the nanogrid structures. Overall, dynamicstructural color networks exhibit promising potential for applications in information encryption and in situ sensing for microfluidic chips.

Polarization-encoded neural networks with simplified grating patch

Optical neural networks (ONNs) offer a promising solution for high-performance, energy-efficient artificial intelligence hardware by leveraging the parallelism and speed of light. However, the large-scale implementation of ONNs remains challenging due to the bulky footprint and complex control of optical synapses. In this work, we propose and simulate a plasmonic polarized synaptic architecture that overcomes the diffraction limit and enables ultra-compact ONNs. By tuning the polarization state of incident light, the optical transmittance through each plasmonic unit can be dynamically adjusted to represent a synaptic weight. Our plasmonic structures, with features as small as 40 nm, operate well below this limit in the visible spectrum (400–750 nm). Compared with diffraction and interference-based circuit designs, our proposed method achieves a substantial reduction in synaptic density by factors of 150000-fold and 1500-fold, respectively. Furthermore, we successfully demonstrate a proof-of-concept plasmonic ONN applied to the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research—10classes (CIfaR-10) dataset using a Visual Geometry Group network with 16 layers (VGG16) model. After training for 80epochs, the network achieves an accuracy of 93%. The polarization-tunable plasmonics paves the way towards scalable ONNs for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators and smart sensors.

背景:结直肠癌早期的治疗方法包括内镜和手术切除,但是术后并发症多,晚期多采用化疗方法,然而化疗会引起胃肠功能紊乱、骨髓抑制、肝肾功能损伤等不良反应,导致大多数患者不主动、不配合治疗。目的:综述间充质干细胞治疗结直肠癌的作用机制、最新治疗进展及目前存在的问题,为将来临床应用提供依据。方法:计算机检索Pub Med数据库、中国知网、万方数据库收录的相关文献。英文检索词为“mesenchymal stem cells,colorectal cancer,cancer stem cell,tumor microenvironment”,中文检索词为“间充质干细胞,结直肠癌,癌症干细胞,肿瘤微环境”,最终纳入119篇文献进行分析。结果与结论:(1)间充质干细胞对于结直肠癌具有促进和抑制的双面作用;(2)间充质干细胞的肿瘤归巢特性使其能够准确迁移到肿瘤位置并释放药物,基于这一特性,增加了治疗结直肠癌的安全性和有效性;(3)间充质干细胞衍生的外泌体作为良好的药物载体,在结直肠癌靶向治疗中显示出良好的应用前景;(4)使用病毒载体、非病毒载体或其他转染工具将具有成熟抗肿瘤作用的药物加载到间充质干细胞中,共同治疗结直肠癌;(5)间充质干细胞与化疗药物联合使用可以提高化疗药物疗效并降低化疗药物不良反应;(6)间充质干细胞促进结直肠癌的发展机制主要与结直肠癌细胞中的信号转导、趋化因子的表达状态及间充质干细胞向癌症相关成纤维细胞转化有关;(7)间充质干细胞可能具有驱动癌症干细胞的特性,促进肿瘤起始并提高肿瘤侵袭性;(8)间充质干细胞治疗结直肠癌还存在着不可避免的问题:缺乏标准化治疗方案及疗效评价方法、治疗成本高昂、间充质干细胞的保存与运输问题、间充质干细胞与化疗药物共同使用的比例等。

Ammonia-induced CuO/13X for H_(2)S removal from simulated blast furnace gas at low temperature

Blast furnace gas(BFG)is an important by-product energy for the iron and steel industry and has been widely used for heating or electricity ***,the undesirable contaminants in BFG(especially H_(2)S)generate harmful environmental *** desulfurization of BFG is urgent for integrated steel plants due to the stringent ultra-low emission *** with other desulfurization materials,zeolite-based adsorbents represent a viable option with low costs and long service *** this study,an ammonia-induced CuO modified 13X adsorbent(NH3–CuO/13X)was prepared for H_(2)S removal from simulated BFG at low *** XRD,H_(2)-TPR and TEM analysis proved that smaller CuO particles were formed and the dispersion of Cu on the surface of 13X zeolite was improved via the induction of *** on H_(2)S adsorption performance of the adsorbent was carried out using simulated BFG,and the results showed that NH3–CuO/13X-3 has better breakthrough sulfur capacity,which was more than twice the sulfur capacity of CuO/*** is proposed that the enhanced desulfurization performance of NH3–CuO/13X is attributed to an abundant pore of 13X,and combined action of 13X and *** work provided an effective way to improve the sulfur capacity of zeolite-based adsorbents via impregnation method by ammonia induction.
