Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)persists as a dominant cause of cancer-related mortality globally,with a notably rapid escalation in mortality *** advent of immunotherapy,particularly immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs),has ushered in a new era in the management of liver cancer,albeit with unresolved challenges in the context of treatment beyond progression(TBP)and stratified prognosis in diverse *** study aimed to develop and validate a novel nomogram model to identify factors that predict the benefit of continued immunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma patients following disease progression in clinical ***:This study retrospectively analyzed the efficacy of ICIs in TBP,focusing on the Chinese population with advanced liver cancer.A nomogram was constructed based on four independent risk factors identified through Cox multivariate analysis,aiming to predict patient prognosis post-ICI *** model was validated through receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis and categorized patients into high-,intermediate-,and low-risk groups,with further validation using calibration plots and decision curve analysis(DCA).Results:The low-risk group demonstrated significantly enhanced overall survival(OS)compared to the high-risk group,with the nomogram predictions aligning closely with actual outcomes for 6-and 9-month *** model exhibited commendable predictive accuracy,achieving a C-index exceeding 0.7 in both training and validation *** DCA underscored the clinical utility of the nomogram-based prognostic model,further substantiated by the area under the ROC curve(AUC).Conclusions:The developed nomogram presents a potentially valuable tool for predicting the prognosis of HCC patients undergoing ICI therapy beyond progression,particularly within the Chinese ***,the study is constrained by its retrospective,single-center nature and necessitates further validation through large-scale,multicente

Analysis of amino acid enantiomers in ambient aerosols:Effects and removal of coexistent aerosol matrix

Amino acids(AAs)including D-and L-enantiomers are a group of organic nitrogen species in ambient *** to the low abundances of AAs(level of ng/m^(3))and the matrix effects by coexistent components,it is challenging to quantify AA enantiomers in ambient aerosols especially under pollution *** this study,we present an optimized method for analyzing AA enantiomers in atmospheric aerosol samples including a pretreatment process and the detection by high performance liquid chromatography coupled to a fuorescence detector(HPLC-FLD).Matrix effects caused by coexistent chemicals on AA enantiomers analysis in ambient aerosol samples were investigated especially for those collected in pollution *** results revealed that the determination of AA enantiomers is significantly affected by the coexistent organic carbon(as a proxy of organic matter)and water-soluble ion of NH_(4)^(+).To remove the matrix effects,we applied a pretreatment using the solid phase extraction column coupled with alkaline adjustment to sample *** pretreatment,18 AAs including 6 pairs of D-and L-enantiomers(i.e.,leucine,isoleucine,valine,alanine,serine,and aspartic acid)can be successfully separated and quantified in aerosol samples by *** recoveries are in the range of 67%-106%.This method was successfully applied to the urban aerosol samples from pollution and non-pollution periods for AA enantiomers *** suggest that the concentrations of D-AAs and the ratio of D-AA/L-AA are indicative of the contribution of bacterial sources and the infuence of biomass burning.

Intermittent sliding-lock-knot suture for limbal conjunctival autograft fixation in pterygium surgery:a technique note

AIM:To report a technique used with intermittent slidinglock-knot(ISLK)fixation for limbal conjunctival autografts in pterygium surgery and compared with those of routine intermittent(RI)***:Consecutive patients with primary pterygium who had undergone pterygium excision combined with limbal conjunctival autograft transplantation between March 2021 and March 2022 at our institute were retrospectively *** outcome measures were mean duration of surgery and suture removal,degree of conjunctival hyperemia on postoperative day 1,pain score at suture removal,postoperative symptoms at 6mo,including conjunctival hyperemia,foreign body sensation,and graft ***:Ninety-eight patients underwent monocular surgery and were divided into ISLK(51 eyes)and RI(47 eyes)groups according to the type of conjunctiva autograft fixation method *** was no significant difference in mean duration of surgery between the two groups(18.59±2.39min vs 18.15±2.20min,P=0.417);however,compared to the RI group,shorter suture removal times were observed in the ISLK group[0.58min(0.42-0.87)vs 3.00min(2.21-4.15),P<0.001].The degree of conjunctival hyperemia on postoperative day 1 was milder in the ISLK group(P<0.001).Pain scores at suture removal were lower in the ISLK group than in RI group[1(0-3)vs 2(1-4),P<0.001].Postoperative symptoms at 6mo were comparable between the groups(P=0.487),with no ***:ISLK is an innovative method for limbal conjunctival autograft fixation after pterygium *** to RI fixation,ISLK facilitates suture removal and reduces discomfort,with comparable surgery duration and less conjunctival hyperemia.

Neighbor Product Distinguishing Total Coloring via Combinatorial Nullstellensatz

Let G =(V, E) be a simple graph and φ : V(G) ∪ E(G) → {1, 2, · · ·, k} be a proper total-k-coloring of G. Let f(v) = φ(v)Π(uv∈E(G))φ(uv). The coloring φ is neighbor product distinguishing if f(u) ≠ f(v) for each edge uv ∈ E(G). The neighbor product distinguishing total chromatic number of G, denoted by χΠ’’(G),is the smallest integer k such that G admits a k-neighbor product distinguishing total coloring. Li et al. conjectured that χΠ’’(G) ≤ △(G) + 3 for any graph with at least two vertices and confirmed the conjecture for K4-minor free graph. In this paper, we prove that for a graph G with at least two vertices,(1) if mad(G) <(60)/(17),then χΠ’’(G) ≤ max{△ + 2, 8};(2) if mad(G) <8/3, then χΠ’’(G) ≤ max{△ + 2, 6}. Furthermore, by using the Combinatorial Nullstellensatz, we simplify their proof and show that χΠ’’(G) ≤ max{△(G) + 2, 6} for any K4-minor free graph.

Effect of TiO_(2) addition on microstructures and properties of Mgo-Cao refractory aggregates

Astragaloside IV Alleviates Acute Liver Failure Induced by D-GalN/LPS by Upregulating Autophagy and Reducing Inflammation

Acute liver failure(ALF)is a life-threatening condition that manifests in an extremely serious manner and progresses *** following study investigated the protective effect of astragaloside IV(AS-IV),a traditional Chinese drug,on ALF,and its underlying mechanisms,focusing on autophagy and inflammation *** were randomly divided into a saline group,a D-galactosamine and lipopolysac-charide(D-GalN/LPS)group and an AS-IV *** analysis,immunohistochemistry,cytometric bead array,high-throughput quantitative PCR,flow cytometry and Western analysis were used to assess inflammation and liver damage 5 hours after D-GalN/LPS *** IV treatment reduced mortality by alleviating D-GalN/LPS–induced hepatic damage and decreasing inflammation(decreasing Ly6c+monocyte levels,reducing inflammatory cytokines and increasing anti-inflammatory factors)as well as upregulating ***,PCR array was used to detect expression of autophagy-related genes,which demonstrated a Log2 fold change in gene expression between the AS-IV and D-GalN/LPS groups ranging from 1.19 to-3.53,with Tnfsf10 showing the largest alteration be-tween the two *** data suggest that AS-IV may alleviate ALF by upregulating autophagy and reducing inflammation,and it may therefore be an interesting drug for alleviating ALF.

High-throughput calculations combining machine learning to investigate the corrosion properties of binary Mg alloys

Magnesium(Mg)alloys have shown great prospects as both structural and biomedical materials,while poor corrosion resistance limits their further *** this work,to avoid the time-consuming and laborious experiment trial,a high-throughput computational strategy based on first-principles calculations is designed for screening corrosion-resistant binary Mg alloy with intermetallics,from both the thermodynamic and kinetic *** stable binary Mg intermetallics with low equilibrium potential difference with respect to the Mg matrix are firstly ***,the hydrogen adsorption energies on the surfaces of these Mg intermetallics are calculated,and the corrosion exchange current density is further calculated by a hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)kinetic *** intermetallics,e.g.Y_(3)Mg,Y_(2)Mg and La_(5)Mg,are identified to be promising intermetallics which might effectively hinder the cathodic ***,machine learning(ML)models are developed to predict Mg intermetallics with proper hydrogen adsorption energy employing work function(W_(f))and weighted first ionization energy(WFIE).The generalization of the ML models is tested on five new binary Mg intermetallics with the average root mean square error(RMSE)of 0.11 *** study not only predicts some promising binary Mg intermetallics which may suppress the galvanic corrosion,but also provides a high-throughput screening strategy and ML models for the design of corrosion-resistant alloy,which can be extended to ternary Mg alloys or other alloy systems.

根系生产力及其动态变化对评价退化草地的恢复起着重要作用。然而,目前尚不清楚根系如何响应不同恢复措施。为了探究根系对不同恢复措施的响应,本研究于2013–2014年在退化草甸开展了田间试验。试验处理包括:自由放牧(FG)、不翻耕(NP)、仅翻耕(OP)、翻耕+施肥(PF)、翻耕+覆盖(PM)和翻耕+施肥+覆盖(PFM)。研究结果表明,根系的季节动态为单峰模式,主要受降水的影响,但不受恢复措施的影响。不同恢复措施对根系生产力的影响取决于降水量。在2013年,与FG相比,PFM通过增加ANPP、土壤含水量和根系数量显著提高根系生产力达242.34%(0–10 cm)和90.8%(10–20 cm);2014年不同恢复措施对根系生产力的影响不显著。根系周转在不同恢复措施间无显著变化,其范围为0.47–0.78 yr−1。这主要是由于在不同样地中优势物种均是一年生物种虎尾草(Chloris virgata),其根系周转变化相对较小。此外,PFM还通过改善土壤条件提高了根系寿命和存活率。上述结果表明,组合恢复措施是促进松嫩草甸地下根系恢复的有效途径。

The oxygen content of metal powder is decisive for the recyclability of *** research on the effect of oxygen content on powder properties and material formability has practical significance for economical production with additive manufacturing while preventing the waste of ***,we deliberately oxidized the powder by baking at high temperature to increase the oxygen content in the powder and gave the calculation method of the oxygen content in the powder oxidation *** majority of oxygen element was found in the oxide particles in the powder and the oxide flm on the powder surface,which did affect the flowability of the *** is worth noting that the increase in the oxygen content does not change the phase of H13 steel,but it can promote the molten pool flow and obtain a smoother *** increase in the oxygen content in the powder is not the decisive factor for the formability and defects of the printed *** is the combined effect of the powder deformation,the increase in the oxygen content,and the impurity pollution after repeated use,which leads to the limitation of repeated utilization of the powder.
