Multiple damage zones around hydraulic fractures generated by high-frequency pulsating hydraulic fracturing

Pulsating hydraulic fracturing(PHF) is a promising fracturing method and can generate a dynamic periodic pressure. The periodic pressure can induce fatigue failure of rocks and decrease initiation pressure of fracture. If the frequency of periodic pressure exceeds 10 Hz, the distribution of pressure along the main fracture will be heterogeneous, which is much different from the one induced by the common fracturing method. In this study, the impact of this special spatial feature of pressure on hydraulic fracture is mainly investigated. A coupled numerical simulation model is first proposed and verified through experimental and theoretical solutions. The mechanism of secondary fracture initiation around the main fracture is then discovered. In addition, sensitivity studies are conducted to find out the application potential of this new method. The results show that(1) this coupled numerical simulation model is accurate. Through comparison with experimental and theoretical data, the average error of this coupled model is less than 1.01%.(2) Even if a reservoir has no natural fracture, this heterogeneous distribution pressure can also cause many secondary fractures around the main fracture.(3) The mechanism of secondary fracture initiation is that this heterogeneous distribution pressure causes tensile stress at many locations along the main fracture.(4) Through adjusting the stimulation parameters, the stimulation efficiency can be improved. The average and amplitude of pressure can increase possibility of secondary fracture initiation. The frequency of this periodic pressure can increase number of secondary fractures. Even 6 secondary fractures along a 100 m-length main fracture can be generated.(5) The influence magnitudes of stimulation parameters are larger than ones of geomechanical properties, therefore, this new fracturing method has a wide application potential.

Identification of biomarkers for cervical cancer in peripheral blood lymphocytes using oligonucleotide microarrays

Background Oligonucleotide microarrays are increasingly being used to identify gene expression profiles that associated with complex genetic diseases. Peripheral lymphocytes communicate with cells and extracellular matrixes in almost all tissues and organs in human body, suggesting that the gene expression profiles in peripheral lymphocytes may reflect the presence of disease in the body. This study aimed to identify molecular biomarkers for cervical cancer in peripheral blood lymphocytes by using oligonucleotide microarrays. Methods Total RNA was extracted from peripheral blood lymphocytes of 24 early stage cervical cancer patients and 18 healthy controls. We used 22K Human Genome microarrays to profile peripheral blood lymphocytes from 4 early stage cervical cancer patients and compared their gene expression profiles with those from 3 healthy controls. Differentially expressed genes would be identified if they had adjusted P values of less than 0.05 and a groupwise average fold change greater than 1.5 or less than 0.67. Then the selected 5 genes were validated in the remaining 20 early stage cervical cancer patients and the 15 healthy controls by using real-time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR）. Results Genes identified by the gene selection program expressed differently between the blood samples of the early stage cervical cancer patients and those of the healthy controls. To validate the gene expression data, 5 genes were analyzed by real-time RT-PCR. In three of the 5 identified genes, tenasin-c （TNC）, nuceolin （NCL）, and enolase 2 （EN02） showed a significant up-regulation in the blood samples of the early stage cervical cancer patients versus that of the healthy controls. Conclusions The up-regulation of TNC, NCL, and EN02 in peripheral blood may be used to identify novel blood biomarkers for detecting cervical cancer in a clinically accessible surrogate tissue, and thus to provide a possibility to develop a noninvasive and predictive d

The limited infiltration and persistence of chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)-T cells is primarily responsible for their treatment deficits in solid tumors. Here, we present a three-dimensional scaffold, inspired by the physiological process of T-cell proliferation in lymph nodes. This scaffold gathers the function of loading,delivery, activation and expansion for CAR-T cells to enhance their therapeutic effects on solid tumors. This porous device is made from poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) by a microfluidic technique with the modification of T-cell stimulatory signals, including anti-CD3, anti-CD28 antibodies, as well as cytokines. This scaffold fosters a 50-fold CAR-T cell expansion in vitro and a 15-fold cell expansion in vivo. Particularly, it maintains long-lasting expansion of CAR-T cells for up to 30 days in a cervical tumor model and significantly inhibits the tumor growth. This biomimetic delivery strategy provides a versatile platform of cell delivery and activation for CAR-T cells in treating solid tumors.

Network meta-analysis of combination strategies in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer

This study compared different doublet and triplet therapies for efficacy and safety in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer(mHSPC).PubMed,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Library were comprehensively searched for eligible randomized controlled trials(RCTs)published from inception to October *** included abiraterone,apalutamide,enzalutamide,docetaxel,darolutamide,and androgen deprivation therapy(ADT),either as doublet or triplet *** outcomes examined were overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC)-free survival,time to symptomatic skeletal event(SSE),and *** surface under the cumulative ranking curve(SUCRA)was determined to identify the preferred *** RCTs were *** combination of darolutamide,docetaxel,and ADT had the highest SUCRA of 84.3 for OS,followed by combined abiraterone,docetaxel,and ADT(SUCRA=71.6).The highest SUCRAs for PFS were observed for triplet therapies(abiraterone,docetaxel,and ADT[SUCRA=74.9],followed by enzalutamide,docetaxel,and ADT[SUCRA=74.3])and other androgen receptor axis-targeted therapy-based doublet therapies(SUCRAs:26.5–59.3).Darolutamide,docetaxel,and ADT had the highest SUCRAs,i.e.,80.8 and 84.0 regarding CRPC-free survival and time to SSE,*** Grade>3 adverse events(AEs),the SUCRAs of triplet therapies(SUCRAs:14.8–31.5)were similar to that of docetaxel and ADT(SUCRA=39.5).Three studies had a low risk of bias in all categories;the remaining studies had at least an unclear risk of bias in at least one *** therapy demonstrated potentially enhanced effectiveness than doublet therapy in mHSPC,with acceptable safety *** might be the optimal option for triplet therapy in combination with docetaxel and ADT.

Effect of cooling method on TiN precipitation behavior of high-titanium high-strength steel during solidification

Metallographic microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and TiN growth thermodynamic and kinetic equations were used to investigate the morphology,quantity,and size of TiN in the center of high-titanium high-strength steels under different solidification cooling *** results showed that TiN in the center of the experimental steels mainly existed in three forms:single,composite(Al2O3-TiN),and multi-particle *** began precipitating at around 1497℃(solidification fraction of 0.74).From the end of melting to solidification for 180 s,the cooling rates in the center of the experimental steels for furnace cooling,air cooling,refractory mold cooling,and cast iron mold cooling tended to stabilize at 0.17,0.93,1.65,and 2.15℃/s,*** size of TiN in the center of the experimental steel cooled using furnace cooling was mainly concentrated in the 5-15 pm *** contrast,the size of TiN in the center of the experimental steels cooled using air cooling,refractory mold cooling,and cast iron mold cooling were mainly concentrated in the 1-5 pm *** addition,their density of TiN in the center of the experimental steels is signif-icantly higher than that of the furnace-cooled experimental *** and kinetic precipitation models of TiN established predicted the growth size of TiN in a high-titanium high-strength steel when the solidification cooling rates are not below 0.93℃/s.

First Digit Distributions of Gamma-Ray Bursts

The occurrence of the first significant digits from real world sources is usually not equally distributed,but is consistent with a logarithmic distribution instead,known as Benford’s *** this work,we perform a comprehensive investigation on the first digit distributions of the duration,fluence,and energy flux of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) for the first *** a complete GRB sample detected by the Fermi satellite,we find that the first digits of the duration and fluence adhere to Benford’s ***,the energy flux shows a significant departure from this law,which may be due to the fact that a considerable part of the energy flux measurements is restricted by lack of spectral *** on the conventional duration classification scheme,we also check if the durations and fluences of long and short GRBs (with duration T_(90)>2 s and T_(90)≤2 s,respectively) obey Benford’s *** find that the fluences of both long and short GRBs still agree with the Benford distribution,but their durations do not follow Benford’s *** results hint that the long–short GRB classification scheme does not directly represent the intrinsic physical classification scheme.

Quaternion-Based Adaptive Trajectory Tracking Control of a Rotor-Missile with Unknown Parameters Identification

This paper investigates the adaptive trajectory tracking control problem and the unknown parameter identification problem of a class of rotor-missiles with parametric system ***,considering the uncertainty of structural and aerodynamic parameters,the six-degree-of-freedom(6Do F) nonlinear equations describing the position and attitude dynamics of the rotor-missile are established,respectively,in the inertial and body-fixed reference ***,a hierarchical adaptive trajectory tracking controller that can guarantee closed-loop stability is proposed according to the cascade characteristics of the 6Do F ***,a memory-augmented update rule of unknown parameters is proposed by integrating all historical data of the regression *** long as the finitely excited condition is satisfied,the precise identification of unknown parameters can be ***,the validity of the proposed trajectory tracking controller and the parameter identification method is proved through Lyapunov stability theory and numerical simulations.

Al-doped ZnO/WO_(3) heterostructure films prepared by magnetron sputtering for isopropanol sensors

Metal oxide semiconductors(MOSs) are ideal sensing materials for detecting volatile organic compounds due to their low cost, diversity, high stability, and ease of production. However, it remains a grand challenge to develop the MOSs-based gas sensors for sensing isopropanol with desired performance via a simple, effective,and controllable method. Herein, we reported the preparation of the Al-doped Zn O(AZO)/WO_(3) heterostructure films by directly depositing the AZO coating onto the WO_(3) coating using a strategy of magnetron sputtering. The AZO/WO_(3) heterostructure films were constructed by numbers of irregular nanoparticles that were interconnected with each other. The AZO/WO_(3) heterostructure films-based gas sensors exhibited excellent isopropanolsensing performance with high response, promising selectivity, low detection limit, fast response rate, wide detection range, and ideal reproducibility. The promising isopropanol-sensing performance of the AZO/WO_(3) heterostructure films arises mainly from their high uniformity, unique microstructures with high surface roughness,and the construction of the heterostructure between the AZO and WO_(3) coatings. This work provides a versatile approach to prepare the MOSs-based heterostructure films for assembling the gas sensors.

A novel hydroxamic acid,N-hydroxy-9,10-epoxy group-octadecanamide(N-OH-9,10-O-ODA),was synthesised by modifying the structure of oleic *** carboxyl group of oleic acid was converted into an N-hydroxy amide group,and an epoxy group was introduced into its structure.N-OH-9,10-O-ODA was used as a novel collector in the flotation separation of spodumene from one of its associated gangue minerals,specifically albite.N-OH-9,10-O-ODA exhibits remarkable selectivity,with a stronger affinity for collecting spodumene particles compared to albite *** potential measurements and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic analysis reveal that the adsorption quantity of N-OH-9,10-O-ODA on spodumene surface is comparable to that on albite ***-principles calculations demonstrate the diverse adsorption configurations of N-OH-9,10-O-ODA on surfaces of spodumene and albite,leading to its distinct collecting abilities for spodumene and albite particles.
