One-step synthesis of n-butanol from bimolecular condensation of ethanol was firstlyachieved over nickel supported gamma alumina catalyst. A mechanism of dehydration path for thegrowth of carbon chain by eliminating a hydroxy group from one ethanol molecule with a α-H ofother ethanol molecule rather than aldol condensation was verified.

In this article,we employ a fully-resolved numerical simulation method（the fictitious domain method）to investigate the effects of large neutrally-buoyant particles on the turbulent flow in a pipe at low Reynolds number and non-dilute *** tube Reynolds number is fixed to be 4 900,the particle-pipe diameter ratio is 0.1,and the particle volume fraction ranges from 0.33%to 10%.Our results indicate that the presence of large particles decreases the maximum root-of-mean-square（rms）of the streamwise velocity fluctuation near the wall by weakening the intensity of large-scale streamwise vortices,although in the region very close to the wall the particles increase the rms of streamwise velocity *** the other hand,the particles induce small-scale vortices in the near-wall region,resulting in the enhancement of the rms of radial and circumferential velocity fluctuations there.

Let M^n be a smooth, compact manifold without boundary, and F0 ： M^n→ R^n＋1 a smooth immersion which is convex. The one-parameter families F（·, t）： M^n× [0, T） → R^n＋1 of hypersurfaces Mt^n= F（·,t）（M^n） satisfy an initial value problem dF/dt （·,t） = -H^k（· ,t）v（· ,t）, F（· ,0） = F0（· ）, where H is the mean curvature and u（·,t） is the outer unit normal at F（·, t）, such that -Hu = H is the mean curvature vector, and k 〉 0 is a constant. This problem is called H^k-fiow. Such flow will develop singularities after finite time. According to the blow-up rate of the square norm of the second fundamental forms, the authors analyze the structure of the rescaled limit by classifying the singularities as two types, i.e., Type Ⅰ and Type Ⅱ. It is proved that for Type Ⅰ singularity, the limiting hypersurface satisfies an elliptic equation; for Type Ⅱ singularity, the limiting hypersurface must be a translating soliton.

OBJECTIVES: To understand the characteristics of primary, liver camcer (PLC) in the elderly and summarize the experience in treatment of such patients. METHODS: The clinical data of PLC in the elderly group (≥60 years, 125 patients) and the young group (≤59 years, 295 patients) were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS: In the elderly group, 64 patients were found HBsAg positive, 39 patients small PLC, 24 large PLC, 15 tumor emboli in the portal vein, 86 AFP positive, and 34 hepatectomy performed. In the young group, 205 patients were found HBsAg positive, 79 patients small PLC, 97 large PLC, 96 tumor emboli in the portal vein, 200 AFP positive, and 126 hepatectomy performed. The median survival was 44 and 25 months respectively, and no significant difference was observed in the mortality between the two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Hepatectomy is a choice of treatment for PLC in the elderly based on their liver function. AFP and B-ultrasonography are important methods for the diagnosis of PLC in the elderly.

BACKGROUND: Crigler-Najjar syndrome type I (CNS I) is a very rare autosomal recessive inherited disease that liver transplantation can properly deal with. METHODS: We present one case of an 18-month-old child with CNS I diagnosed by clinical findings and genetic detecting LTx was performed 5 days after kernicterus broke out and neurological symptoms were successfully reversed. RESULT: Magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy showed encouraging results that brain pathology had a trend to return to normal in 1-year follow-up, combined with electroencephalogram and motor development estimate studies. CONCLUSIONS: Liver transplantation can cure CNS I with reversible neurological symptoms to some extent in time Magnetic resonance spectroscopy may be a future option of predicting brain conditions and selecting suitable patients with CNS I for transplantation.

Undecatungstocobaltoruthenic polyoxometallic acid H7[Ru（H2O）CoW11O39] 22H2O was synthesized by the stepwise acidification and the stepwise addition of solutions of the component elements as well as the ion ex changing-cooling method. The optimal proportion of the component compound and the pH of the synthesis reaction were given. The product was characterized by means of inductively coupled plasma（ICP）, IR, UV and thermal analy sis. The IR and UV results indicate that H7[Ru（H2O）CoW11O39] 22H2O possesses the Keggin structure. The results of AC impedance measurement show that its proton conductivity is 2.30×10-3 S/cm at room temperature（295 K） and a relative humidity of 75%.

Objectives: To prevent and early diagnose hepatitis B virus reinfection and recurrent hepatitis B following liver transplantation, and to discuss the further treat- ment of recurrent hepatitis B. Methods: Liver transplantation recipients received lamivudine for prophylaxis of HBV reinfection. Viro- logical and biochemical data, serum HBV-DNA, and immunohistological staining for HBsAg and HBcAg in liver biopsy specimens were tested in due time. Results: Five patients with hepatitis B virus reinfection and two patients with hepatitis B recurrence were ob- served after liver transplantation. One patient with re- current hepatitis B developed chronic severe hepatitis B despite treatment. One patient improved after a se- ries of treatment. Conclusions: Hepatitis B virus reinfection or recurrent hepatitis B following liver transplantation occurs most- ly 6-12 months after operation. The diagnosis of hepa- titis B recurrence should be taken into account when liver biochemical data becomes poor during this pe- riod. The treatment for recurrent hepatitis B after liv- er transplantation includes increased dosage of lamivu- dine, application of famciclovir, and other liver pro- tection measures.
