Pulmonary Hypertension Induced by Thalidomide (and Derivatives) in Patients with Multiple Myeloma: A Systematic Review

Thalidomide is widely used in the treatment of.multiple myeloma (MM). In recent years, several cases of.pulmonary hypertension have been reported f.llowing treatment with thalidomide. The aim of.this review was to evaluate the published literature on multiple myeloma patients with pulmonary hypertension f.llowing thalidomide treatment. A literature search was perf.rmed between 2000 and 2016. A total of.7 eligible studies were identif.ed and deemed eligible, including 11 cases—approximately 37% (4 cases) with IgA (k), 27% (3 cases) with IgG (λ) MM, 27% (3 cases) with IgG (k) MM, and one case (9%) with primary plasma cell leukemia (PPCL). The vast majority of.cases—82% (9 cases)—are associated with thalidomide, while only 18% (2 cases) are related to thalidomide derivatives (lenalidomide and pomalidomide). In conclusion, pulmonary hypertension induced by thalidomide or derivatives in multiple myeloma (MM) patients is related to a multif.ctorial etiology including the pathophysiology of.the disease, thromboembolic events, preexisted cardiovascular conditions, comorbidities, and combination with other chemo- or bio-therapeutic agents. MM patients should be evaluated f.r signs and symptoms underlying cardiopulmonary disease bef.re initiating, and during treatment with thalidomide.

Condition monitoring of.the insulating system within power transf.rmers has a massive importance according to the electrical *** gas analysis(DGA)is f.equently used f.r this ***,DGA lacks the necessary level of.accuracy to identif. all equipment f.ults,particularly in their initial stages of.***,it does not have the capability f.r real-time monitoring and relies on manual sampling and laboratory testing,causing potential delays in f.ult ***,the interpretation of.DGA data necessitates specialised expertise,which may pose dif.iculties f.r smaller entities that have limited access to ***,the contribution of.this research is to use inf.ared spectroscopy measurements as a new ef.ective technique substituting the DGA method f.r f.ult diagnosis in insulating *** inception f.ults that were considered in this study were the electrical f.ult(discharges of.high energy)and the thermal f.ult(300°Cf.ed especially f.r serving the simulation processes inside the laboratory f.r both types of.inception ***,six samples of.pure paraf.inic mineral oil were taken to be degraded in the *** that,all of.them besides another sample that were not subjected to any kind of.f.ults were taken to be examined by f.urier transf.rm inf.ared(f.IR)spectroscopy to obtain an overview of.the oil's behaviour in each f.ult *** that,the f.IR analysis was initially verif.ed utilising the DGA ***,f.r f.rther af.irmation,the dielectric dissipation f.ctor(DDf.f.r all samples was *** the f.nal analysis,the verif.cation tests provide experimental evidence about the outperf.rmance of.this new optical technique in detecting the transf.rmer's inception f.ults in addition to proving its potential f.r being a superior alternative to the well-known traditional diagnostic techniques.

Developing a biomaterial f.r wound healing applications is still a ***,dysprosium oxide(Dy_(2)O_(3)),aluminum oxide(Al_(2)O_(3)),and graphene oxide(GO)were embedded in cast f.lms based on polycaprolactone(PCL)to be examined f.r wound dressing *** techniques were used to characterize the f.bricated f.lms including X-ray dif.raction(XRD),f.urier transf.rm inf.ared spectroscopy(f.IR),Raman,and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),besides their biological *** thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)exhibits high thermal stability as the scaf.old weight decreases slightly to 98.6%af.er raising the temperature f.om room temperature to 280℃.The cell viability was investigated and it is shown that the viable cells grow up to approximately 93%at 75μg/***,the cell attachment shows excellent behavior as the cells attach on most of.the surf.ce of.the modif.ed PCL which shows high biocompatibility.

Advanced DriverAssistance Systems(ADAS)technologies can assist drivers or be part of.automatic driving systems to support the driving process and improve the level of.saf.ty and comf.rt on the *** Sign Recognition System(TSRS)is one of.themost important components *** the challengeswith TSRS is being able to recognize road signs with the highest accuracy and the shortest processing ***,this paper introduces a new real time methodology recognizing Speed Limit Signs based on a trio of.developed ***,the Speed Limit Detection(SLD)module uses the Haar Cascade technique to generate a new SL detector in order to localize SL signs within captured ***,the Speed Limit Classif.cation(SLC)module,f.aturing machine learning classif.ers alongside a newly developed model called DeepSL,harnesses the power of.a CNN architecture to extract intricate f.atures f.om speed limit sign images,ensuring ef.icient and precise *** addition,a new Speed Limit Classif.ers f.sion(SLCf.module has been developed by combining trained ML classif.ers and the DeepSL model by using the Dempster-Shaf.r theory of.belief.f.nctions and ensemble learning’s voting *** rigorous sof.ware and hardware validation processes,the proposedmethodology has achieved highly signif.cant f. scores of.99.98%and 99.96%f.r DS theory and the votingmethod,***,a prototype encompassing all components demonstrates outstanding reliability and ef.icacy,with processing times of.150 ms f.r the Raspberry Pi board and 81.5 ms f.r the Nano Jetson board,marking a signif.cant advancement in TSRS technology.

Estimation of.monthly global solar radiation over twelve major cities of.Libya

This study aims to estimate monthly averaged daily horizontal global solar *** climatological data collected at twelve major cities located across Libya’s map were used to establish 7 dif.erent empirical *** empirical coef.icients of.the models were calculated using the least square *** accuracy of.the models was evaluated using dif.erent statistical criteria such as Taylor diagram,mean absolute percentage error,MAPE,and root mean square error,*** results indicated that the sunshine duration-based models are more accurate than air temperature-based models,and the best perf.rmance was obtained by the quadratic regression model f.r all twelve Libyan ***,this regression model can be used f.r the prediction of.monthly mean horizontal global solar radiation at a specif.c site across Libya’s regions with minimum ***,the results of.the global solar irradiance produced by this method can be used f.r designing solar systems applications.

Insulin therapy plays a crucial role in the management of.type 2 diabetes as the disease *** the past century,insulin f.rmulations have undergone signif.cant modif.cations and bioengineering,resulting in a diverse range of.available insulin *** products show distinct pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic ***,various insulin regimens have em-erged f.r the management of.type 2 diabetes,including premixed f.rmulations and combinations of.basal and bolus *** utilization of.dif.erent insulin regimens yields disparate clinical outcomes,adverse events,and,notably,patient-reported outcomes(PROs).PROs provide valuable insights f.om the patient’s perspective,serving as a valuable mine of.inf.rmation f.r enhancing healthcare and inf.rming clinical *** to insulin therapy,a critical patient-reported outcome,signif.cantly af.ects clinical outcomes and is inf.uenced by multiple *** review provides insights into the clinical ef.ectiveness of.various insulin preparations,PROs,and f.ctors impacting insulin therapy adherence,with the aim of.enhancing healthcare practices and inf.rming clinical decisions f.r individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Surf.ce electromyography(sEMG)-based gesture recognition is a key technology in the f.eld of.human–computer ***,existing gesture recognition methods f.ce challenges in ef.ectively integrating discriminative temporal f.ature representations f.om sEMG *** this paper,we propose a deep learning f.amework named Tf.-f.Cf. comprises a Temporal f.sion Network(Tf.)and f.zzy Integral-Based Classif.er f.sion method(f.Cf.)to improve the accuracy and robustness of.gesture ***,we design a Tf. module,which utilizes an attention-based recurrent multi-scale convolutional module to acquire multi-level temporal f.ature representations and achieves deep f.sion of.temporal f.atures through a f.ature pyramid ***,the deep-f.sed temporal f.atures are utilized to generate multiple sets of.gesture category prediction conf.dences through a f.edback ***,we employ f.Cf. to perf.rm f.zzy f.sion on prediction conf.dences,resulting in the ultimate *** study conducts extensive comparisons and ablation studies using the publicly available datasets Ninapro DB2 and *** demonstrate that the Tf.-f.Cf. model outperf.rms state-of.the-art methods in classif.cation *** research can serve as a benchmark f.r sEMG-based gesture recognition and related deep learning modeling.

A 56-day f.eding period was perf.rmed to investigate the possible impacts of.dietary nano curcumin(0,50,100,150,and 200 ppm)on the growth,nutrient utilization,non-specif.c immune parameters,antioxidants in Nile tilapia under chronic low temperature(21.02±0.11◦C).f.shes(n=225;Initial weight=4.39±0.08 g/f.sh)were randomly stocked at 15 f.sh/tank f.r f.ve experimental groups in *** low-temperature circumstances,dietary curcumin in nano f.rm showed no notable alteration in growth variable,nutrient ef.iciency,digestive enzymes ef.iciency,biometric indices,survival rates,and hematological ***,the serum of.f.shes with nano curcumin diets under low-temperature stress displayed higher total protein as well as lower glucose,cortisol,and total cholesterol compared with the control ***,f.sh f.d nano curcumin diets displayed higher lysozyme and bactericidal activities compared to the control group and the best perf.rmance was f.und at dietary nano curcumin level of.100 ***,groups f.d the basal diet demonstrated the poorest antioxidant capacity,and the best superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GPx)existed in f.sh with nano curcumin diets while the best catalase(CAT)ef.iciency occurred at higher nano curcumin levels≥100 *** addition,higher counts of.intestinal microbiota in terms of.total bacterial count(TBC),total yeast and molds count(TYMC),and colif.rm were noticed in f.sh consumed the basal diet compared to groups f.d on nano curcumin *** conclusion,incorporating nano curcumin at a level of.100 mg/kg diet(particularly at 150 mg/kg)improved a non-specif.c immune response,antioxidant,and healthier gastrointestinal microbiota in Nile tilapia under chronic low-temperature stress.
