Status of carbohydrate,protein and lipid profile in the mosquito larvae treated with certain phytoextracts

Objective:To investigate the impact of the most potent petroleum ether extract of Artemisia annua(***) and Azadirachta indica(***) on total carbohydrate,lipid and protein level of Anopheles stephensi and Culex quinquefasciatus ***:Mosquito larvae were exposed to the extracts selected as per standard WHO ***(glucose),total lipid and protein were estimated by the methods as Nelson,Bragdon and Lowry described, ***:The glucose levels were increased to 27.87%and 46.8%,respectively in anopheline larval tissues after treatment with petroleum ether extract of *** and methanolic extract of *** culicine larvae,glucose levels were reduced to 58.96%and 24.65%, *** treatment with *** extract,lipid contents in anopheline and culicine larvae decreased by 28.57%and 25.0%,respectively and increased by 14.29%and 50.00%in the Anopheles and Culex larvae,respectively after treatment with methanolic extract of Az. *** protein levels were reduced to 63.13%and 92.62%in anopheline and to 32.39%and 48.12%in culicine larvae after treatment with *** and *** extracts,respectively. Conclusions:Two extracts produce significant alterations in the biochemical pr of iles of anopheline and culicine ***,the impacting factors of extracts on carbohydrate,lipid and protein contents of larvae are species and specific *** indicates the disturbed metabolic activity of the larvae.

The distinction and precise identification of tumor nodules are crucial for timely lung cancer diagnosis andplanning intervention. This research work addresses the major issues pertaining to the field of medical imageprocessing while focusing on lung cancer Computed Tomography (CT) images. In this context, the paper proposesan improved lung cancer segmentation technique based on the strengths of nature-inspired approaches. Thebetter resolution of CT is exploited to distinguish healthy subjects from those who have lung cancer. In thisprocess, the visual challenges of the K-means are addressed with the integration of four nature-inspired swarmintelligent techniques. The techniques experimented in this paper are K-means with Artificial Bee Colony (ABC),K-means with Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA), K-means with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Kmeanswith Firefly Algorithm (FFA). The testing and evaluation are performed on Early Lung Cancer ActionProgram (ELCAP) database. The simulation analysis is performed using lung cancer images set against metrics:precision, sensitivity, specificity, f-measure, accuracy,Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC), Jaccard, and *** detailed evaluation shows that the K-means with Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) significantly improved thequality of lung cancer segmentation in comparison to the other optimization approaches utilized for lung cancerimages. The results exhibit that the proposed approach (K-means with CSA) achieves precision, sensitivity, and Fmeasureof 0.942, 0.964, and 0.953, respectively, and an average accuracy of 93%. The experimental results prove thatK-meanswithABC,K-meanswith PSO,K-meanswith FFA, andK-meanswithCSAhave achieved an improvementof 10.8%, 13.38%, 13.93%, and 15.7%, respectively, for accuracy measure in comparison to K-means segmentationfor lung cancer images. The labile organic carbon(C)and C-related enzymes are sensitive indicators capturing alterations of soil organic matter(SOM),even in a short-time *** the effects of crop husbandry and land use change on these attributes have been well studied,there is no consensus about how plant phenology may impact *** study aimed to determine the short-term effect o f six distinct phenological stages(PS-1:full bloom;PS-2:fruit set;PS-3:pit hardening;PS-4:physiological maturity;PS-5:60 d after physiological maturity;and PS-6:fall)o f peach on the changes in soil organic carbon(SOC)fractions of different oxidizability,labile C pools,and C-cycle enzyme activities in soils,for two consecutive years(2015 and 2016)in the North-Western Himalayas(NWH).Peach rhizosphere soils were sampled at the topsoil(0-15 cm)and subsoil(16-30 cm)layers,along with rhizosphere soils from adjacent perennial grasses,which served as a *** for most of the assessed parameters,including very labile C,labile C,microbial biomass C,permanganate oxidizable C,dissolved organic C,mineralizable C,amylase activity,and carboxymethyl-cellulase activity,were significantly(P<0.05)higher at PS-3 than at other phenological stages of ***,a sudden decline in these soil variables was recorded at PS-5,followed by a slight buildup at PS-6,particularly in the topsoil of the peach ***-term changes in organic C fractions of different oxidizability,influenced by peach phenological stage,significantly(P<0.05)affected C management index,C pool index,and lability *** the C management index and lability index showed their highest values at PS-3 and their lowest values at PS-5,clearly indicating short-term accretion and depletion of SOC,in tandem with the peach phenological *** component analysis suggested that a composite of soil indicators,including microbial biomass C,dissolved organic C,amylase,and invertase,could help detect short-term changes in SOC *** i

Objective:To detect extended spectrumβ-lactamase(ESBL)and determine its prevalence in various clinical samples collected from Dehradun City ***:The samples were first cultured in MacConkey’s agar plates by streak plate method,then identified by Gram staining and biochemical *** isolated bacterial strains were then tested for antibiotic susceptibility by Kirby-Bauer *** ESBL detection is then carried out by double disc diffusion ***:Off the 56 samples cultured,21 strains were identified which were six Escherichia coli(***),six Klebsiella,four Proteus,four Pseudomonas aeruginosa(***)and only one *** out of 21(38.1%)strains including three of ***,three of Klebsiella and two of ***,were found to be resistance to all five antibiotics(piperacillin,amikacin,ampicillin,gentamicin,and ciprofloxacin).Initial screening using four antibiotics(cefotaxime,ceftazidime,aztreonam and ceftriaxone)and the final confirmatory test using ceftazidime/clavulanic acid and ceftazidime alone showed that 19.05%of all strains isolated were ESBL ***,16.67%***,16.67%Klebsiella pneumoniae,25%*** and 100%Acinetobacter were found to be ESBL ***:Antibiotic resistance by ESBL has become a major risk factor worldwide,therefore routine checkup and accordingly prescription are suggested.

Objective:To study chemical constituents of essential oil of the roots of Nardostachys jatamansi found in different regions of Nepal and also to investigate phytochemical as well as antimicrobial activity of the sample with high yield of essential ***:The essential oils of roots of plant from five different regions were extracted by hydro-distillation and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy for their chemical *** root samples were also subjected to hydro-alcoholic extraction and then fractionated with hexane,chloroform,n-butanol and water so as to perform phytochemical screening and antimicrobial ***:The essential oil yield of sample from Jumla was found to be the highest followed by a sample from Nepalgunj,Surkhet and Kathmandu whereas that of sample from Dharan was found to be the *** chromatography-mass spectrometer analysis of essential oil of five samples showed that“2-beta pinene”appeared dominated in three samples,namely,6VJ Nepalgunj,9VJA Jumla and 10VJ ***“alkohol aus neoclovenoxid”in 8VJ Dharan and“methoxy phenyloxime”in 13VJA Kathmandu was found to be present in the highest *** screening of different fractions of sample 9VJA Jumla showed the presence of alkaloids,terpenoids,glycosides,proteins and amino acids,and carbohydrates *** susceptibility test of same fractions showed the n-butanol fraction potent against all pathogens and most affected one was Escherichia ***:Our study suggests that the essential oil of Nardostachys jatamansi found in Nepal contains more than 80 compounds with their quality and quantity differing from place to place.

In this paper, we introduce AK' iteration scheme to approximate fixed point for Suzuki generalized nonexpansive mapping satisfying B(δ, μ) condition in the framework of Banach spaces. Also, an example is given to confirm the efficiency of AK' iteration scheme. Our results are generalizations in the existing literature of fixed points in Banach spaces.

Rabies is a zoonotic disease that affects the central nervous system(CNS)of humans with an extremely high mortality *** disease is transmitted to humans through the bite of rabid animals,usually ***-exposure prophylaxis(PEP)is recommended for all rabid animal *** delayed or missed there is a very high chance of developing the disease which is almost always *** 55000 human rabies-related deaths are reported due to delayed or deferred rabies PEP in the world annually[1].The public usually ignores earlier indicators of rabies and is unwilling to consult a doctor,to avoid contracting COVID-19 during hospital visit[2].We present a case of human rabies infection due to non-compliant PEP amid the COVID-19 pandemic following a rabid dog bite.

Background: Thyroid eye disease represents an organ-specific autoimmune process that is usually associated with thyroid disease. Graves’ disease is the most common thyroid abnormality associated with thyroid eye disease. Aim: This study was conducted for the profile of ocular manifestation in Thyroid Eye Disease (TED). Methodology: A cross-sectional study of 117 cases of thyroid dysfunction was carried out at BP Koirala Institute of Health System, out of which 84 (71.79%) cases had ocular manifestation. They were evaluated and analyzed in detail and the characteristics documented included patient’s demography, ocular and systemic history and as well as ocular examination and some of the systemic and laboratory findings. Results: In this study, mean age of presentation of TED was 39.7 years. 59 patients were female and 25 were male. The maximum patients of both sexes were in the fourth decade of their lives. The common lid signs were lid retraction and lid lag. Proptosis was seen in 33.3% of cases out of which 68% had bilateral proptosis. Corneal ulcer was seen in 7.1% and optic neuropathy in 1.2% of cases. In 27.3% of cases there was elevation of IOP. Dry eye was seen in 61.9% of cases and POAG seen in 8.3% of cases. In the study population 75% were hyperthyroiditic, 16.7% were hypothyroiditic and 8.3% were in euthyroid state. Conclusion: Female was more commonly affected. The maximum number of patients of both sexes was in the fourth decade of their lives. Hyperthyroidism patient had greater chance of ocular manifestation.
