Recent development on distributed systems has shown that a variety of fairness constraints （some of which are only recently defined） play vital roles in designing self- stabilizing population protocols. Existing model checkers are deficient in verifying the systems as only limited kinds of fair- ness are supported with limited verification efficiency. In this work, we support model checking of distributed systems in the toolkit PAT （process analysis toolkit）, with a variety of fairness constraints （e.g., process-level weak/strong fairness, event-level weak/strong fairness, strong global fairness）. It performs on-the-fly verification against linear temporal prop- erties. We show through empirical evaluation （on recent pop- ulation protocols as well as benchmark systems） that PAT has advantage in model checking with fairness. Previously un- known bugs have been revealed against systems which are designed to function only with strong global fairness.

To overcome the aggregation of nanocrystals in a blend of inorganic material with conjugated polymers to prepare photovoltaic material, we used a co-solvent blend of CHCl3 with MeOH at a certain volume fraction to disperse inorganic nanocrystals. The results show that when the volume fraction of MeOH is 50%, ZnO nanocrystals with an average diameter of 30 nm disperse well in the co-solvent solution. Its application in photovoltaic material was investigated in this work, and the photoluminescence（PL） spectra show that when ZnO was 50%（volume fraction） in solution and 25%（volume fraction） in film, the fluorescence quenching reached the maximum values 83.34% and 64.4%, respectively, indicating that electron could transfer from conjugated polymer to electron-acceptor ZnO effectively.

Several processes like phenotypic evolution, disease susceptibility and environmental adaptations, which fashion the domestication of animals, are largely attributable to structural variations(SVs) in the ***, we present high-quality draft genomes of the gray wolf(Canis lupus) and dhole(Cuon alpinus) with scaffold N50 of 6.04 Mb and 3.96 Mb, respectively. Sequence alignment comprising genomes of three canid species reveals SVs specific to the dog, particularly 16 315 insertions, 2565 deletions, 443 repeats, 16 inversions and 15 translocations. Functional annotation of the dog SVs associated with genes indicates their enrichments in energy metabolisms, neurological processes and immune systems. Interestingly, we identify and verify at population level an insertion fully covering a copy of the AKR1 B1(Aldo-Keto Reductase Family 1 Member B) transcript. Transcriptome analysis reveals a high level of expression of the new AKR1 B1 copy in the small intestine and liver, implying an increase in de novo fatty acid synthesis and antioxidant ability in dog compared to gray wolf, likely in response to dietary shifts during the agricultural revolution. For the first time, we report a comprehensive analysis of the evolutionary dynamics of SVs during the domestication step of dogs. Our findings demonstrate that retroposition can birth new genes to facilitate domestication, and affirm the importance of large-scale genomic variants in domestication studies.

Branched polyolefins with controllable topology structures were generated from the chain-walking(co)polymerizations of ethylene,1-pentene(1P)and 2-pentene(2P)using Brookhart-typeα-diimine Ni(II)-based catalysts possessing different para-substituted groups,{[(4-R-2-Et-6-Me-C6H2N=C)2Nap]NiBr2,Nap:1,8-naphthdiyl;R=CHMePh,Ni1;R=Ph,Ni2;R=H,Ni3}.The X-ray diffraction analysis demonstrated that the crystalline structure of Ni1′is in centrosymmetric dimer structure mode with the bimetallic Ni center connected by two bromide *** para-sec-phenethyl moiety in the catalyst Ni1 obviously improved its catalytic performance and thermal stability in the ethylene *** Ni1/Et2AlCl system showed great catalytic activities(up to 7.73×106 g·mol-1·h-1)and achieved polyethylene(PE)with alkyl chains,including Me,Et,n-Pr,n-Bu,sec-Bu branches and longer chains(Lg).Compared with the 1-pentene polymerization,this catalyst system successfully mediated the polymerization of 2P to give highly branched polymers with approximately 195 branches/1000C possessing Me,Et,and n-Pr branches and a long methylene sequence due to the monomer *** Et branches derived from 2,3-insertion is slightly less than the sum of Me and n-Pr branches derived from 3,2-insertion,indicating that the 3,2-insertion mode is a slightly favorable pathway in the polymerization of 2P.

Total knee arthroplasty using computer assisted navigation in patients with severe valgus deformity of the knee

Background Severe valgus deformity often has bone defect and laxity of the medial ligamentous, and total knee arthroplasty in severe valgus knee is, in most cases, more challenging for surgeons. The usefulness of a computer assisted navigation system in reestablishing the mechanical axis has been well established. Hence, the interest for surgeons is how the navigation system makes the procedure of total knee arthroplasty with severe valgus knee easier. Methods From June 2006 to March 2008 in Department of Joint Surgery, Shanghai Sixth People＇s Hospital, 6 patients （7 knees） with severe valgus knee underwent total knee arthroplasty using the Stryker Navigation system, which is an active wireless and imageless system. All the patients were followed up for 12 to 18 months after surgery. The X-ray radiographs for whole limbs were obtained on all patients to determine preoperative and postoperative alignments. Results A primary, posterior stabilized prosthesis was utilized in all cases. The average preoperative overall mechanical axis of the seven knees was 19.6°±4.6° of valgus （range 16°to 29°）, and the average postoperative mechanical axis was 0.4°±0.7° （range 0.8° varus to 1.4° valgus ）. Conclusions The navigation system is a very effective and useful tool for accurate intraoperative restoration of alignment in the face of significant deformity with valgus knee. To prevent component malposition, we did not reduce the knee before solidification of bone cement but controlled alignment using the navigation system up to implantation of the final component.

Catalyst–support interaction plays a crucial role in improving the catalytic activity of oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Here we modulate the catalyst–support interaction in polyaniline-supported Ni_(3)Fe oxide(Ni_(3)Fe oxide/PANI)with a robust hetero-interface,which significantly improves oxygen evolution activities with an overpotential of 270 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)and specific activity of 2.08 mA cm_(ECSA)^(-2)at overpotential of 300 mV,3.84-fold that of Ni_(3)Fe *** is revealed that the catalyst–support interaction between Ni_(3)Fe oxide and PANI support enhances the Ni–O covalency via the interfacial Ni–N bond,thus promoting the charge and mass transfer on Ni_(3)Fe *** the excellent activity and stability,rechargeable Zn-air batteries with optimum Ni_(3)Fe oxide/PANI are assembled,delivering a low charge voltage of 1.95 V to cycle for 400 h at 10 mA cm^(-2).The regulation of the effect of catalyst–support interaction on catalytic activity provides new possibilities for the future design of highly efficient OER catalysts.
