Based on field data of natural rain storm and rainfall simulation experiments, rill initi- ation and factors influencing rill development on soils in the hilly loess region, western shanxi Province are studied. Factors controlling rill erosion are found to be erosivity, soil shear strength, slope angle, slope length and slope shape. The critical threshold for rill initiation can be described by the relationship between stream power and antecedent soil shear strength. Piping is observed to be one of the sub-processes inducing rilling in addition to flow incising.

It is well known that the mining industry produces a large amount of derelict land, and causes pollution of water loss and soil erosion as well as other environmental damage in China. As land is under pressure in China, it is now policy to restore or reclaim land despoiled by mining, the aim being to develop sustainable and healthy arable land ecosystems. This paper outlines the principles and approaches of ecological restoration, which have been adopted in shanxi Province with reference to three typical surface mines. In the research, the principles of ecological engineering and ecological succession are considered as the critical theories of ecological restoration in mine degraded land. Meanwhile, the paper made a comparative research on main links of ecological rebuilding in three surface mines in shanxi Province, which include new land construction, treatment of toxic substances, control of soil erosion, fertility management, irrigation, ecological planning and the establishment of legislation systems. As the research demonstrated, for successful restoration, new land construction is the fundamental framework, but it must be integrated with ecological engineering including ecological planning, the control of soil erosion and vegetation establishment and ecosystem creation in order to optimise land productivity and soil fertility. In addition, the establishment of the legislation systems and organization of administration are also indispensable aspects of ecological rebuilding in mined land.

In this paper, the factors affecting the agricultural production in NANQU gully watershed of northwestern region of shanxi province are analyzed with the method of grey relational analysis. The key factors which influence the grain yield in the region are found out. The analytical results provide scientific evidences for increasing grain yield and realizing regional sustainable development in this region.

Karst in shanxi Province is representative of that in northern China, and karst water systems discharge in the form of springs that are among the most important sources for local water supply. Since the 1950s, attenuation has been the major trend of discharge variation of most karst springs at shanxi. Based on the case study of 7 karst springs including Niangziguan, Xin’an, Guozhuang, Shentou, Jinci, Lancun, and Hongshan springs, the discharge variation process of karst springs was divided into natural fluctuation phase and anthropogenic impact phase. Discharge attenuation of the 7 karst springs was controlled mainly by climate and human activities, with their contributions being respectively about 60% and 40%. According to the dif-ference of the effect of climate and human activities for each spring, attenuation modes of spring discharge fall into three types: natural process dominated attenuation type, exploitation induced process dominated attenuation type, and mixed attenuation type. The total restored discharge variation of 7 karst springs matched well with the global air temperature change in 1956―2000, clearly indicating the trend of global warming and aridity in the last several decades, and the analysis of discharge variation processes of karst springs can be used as a new tool for global change studies.

＜正＞Land subsidence occurred at Taiyuan after the 1960s,with an affected area of about 548 *** biggest subsidence center is located at Wujiabao where the maximum accumulated settlement reached up to 2.96 m and the average subsidence rate was 63 mm/*** major characteristics of land subsidence in Taiyuan are as follows:（1）Four centers of land subsidence were delineated,and the subsidence of each center is different from each other.（2）The subsidence rate has been increased from 1956 to 2000.（3）The distribution of the four subsidence centers is controlled evidently by local groundwater withdrawal and soil layer distribution. Further studies indicate that the groundwater withdrawal process is related to the formation and development of land subsidence,the distribution of groundwater depression cones well correspond to that of land subsidence centers,and the soil layer distribution has effects on the deviation of the subsidence center from the groundwater depression *** view of the characteristics of land subsidence,the following principles should be followed in designing the subsidence monitoring network:（1）the financial state of Taiyuan City should be considered;（2）the important monitoring areas should be separated from the ordinary monitoring areas,being respectively in the center and the margin of each subsidence area;（3）the monitoring should be developed at different depths and the compression amount of each soil layer should be obtained;（4）the monitoring work should be *** to above principles,a leveling pillar and four layered mark boreholes were set up at Wujiabao where the land subsidence was the most serious,which can form the leveling network with the bedrock benchmark in ***,we have reselected the monitor wells from all existent wells to make groundwater level monitoring point corresponding with land subsidence monitoring ***,the matching water level monitoring boreholes to layered marks were constructed in Wuji

The hair of the back of body, base tail, and the four things is taupe, yellowish brown or tawny （the base of hair is black, while the tip is brown） . There is a thin file black hair from the base of ear. to the middle of the back in the front of tail （it is all black from the bottom to the tip）, which seems a black line in the back, so it is called Cricetulus barabensis Pallas.
