manufacturing of a product is constituted of the va ri ous attributes such as quality, cost, performance, and time to market. manufactu ring can also be understood as the entire product realization process, from spec ification through design and production to marketing and distribution. The induc tion of Information Technology (IT) in manufacturing includes the hardware that computes and communicates, the software that provides data, knowledge, and infor mation while at the same time controlling the hardware, and the interfaces betwe en computers and the tools and machines on the shop floor. The manufacturing pro cess utilizes IT in the design of products and processes, production, and manufa cturing-related business practices. IT applications applied to manufacturing helps in rapid shifts in production fro m one product to another, faster implementation of new concepts in products, fas ter delivery of products to customers, full utilization of capital and human res ources, streamlining of operations to focus on essential business needs, and eli mination of unnecessary or wasteful activities. IT can be used to meet a range of needs of manufacturing decision makers. It can be said that IT is an enabler and facilitator of radical change to culture of manufacturing which is highly co nservative for many good reasons. With increasing global competition, applications of global information technolog y is giving manufacturing unit an opportunity to increase control and enhance co ordination, while opening doors to new global markets and businesses. In some st udies conducted it ahs been shown that how information technology can produce pr oductivity gains and job losses in specific areas, whereas dynamic stability was also achieved through IT in some cases. Conservation agriculture(CA)-based best-bet crop management practices may increase crop and water productivity, while conserving and sustaining natural resources. We evaluated the performance of rainy season maize during 2014 under an ongoing long-term trial(established in 2008) with three tillage practices, i.e., permanent bed(PB), zero tillage(ZT), and conventional tillage(CT) as main plots, and four intensified maize-based cropping systems, i.e., maize-wheat-mungbean, maize-chickpea-Sesbania(mCS), maizemustard-mungbean, and maize-maize-Sesbania) as subplot treatments. In the seventh rainy season of the experiment, maize growth parameters, yield attributes, yield, and water-and energy-use efficiency were highest at fixed plots under ZT. maize growth parameters were significantly(P mpared with CT. maize yield attributes, including cobs per m^2(7.8), cob length(0.183 m), grain rows per cob(13.8), and grains per row(35.6), were significantly higher under ZT than CT; however, no significant effect of cropping systems was found on maize growth and yield attributes. Zero tillage exhibited the highest maize productivity(4 589 kg ha^(-1)). However, among the cropping systems, mCS exhibited the highest maize productivity(4 582 kg ha^(-1)). In maize, water use was reduced by 80.2–120.9 mm ha-1under ZT and PB compared with CT, which ultimately enhanced the economic water-use efficiency by 42.0% and 36.6%, respectively. The ZT and PB showed a 3.5%–31.8% increase in soil organic carbon(SOC) at different soil depths(0–0.45 m), and a 32.3%–39.9% increase in energy productivity compared with CT. Overall, our results showed that CA-based ZT and PB practices coupled with diversified maize-based cropping systems effectively enhanced maize yield and SOC,as well as water-and energy-use efficiency, in northwestern India.

AIm:To determine whether endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs)can be used as delivery vehicle for adenoviral vectors and imaging probes for gene therapy in ***:To use cord blood derived EPCs as delivery vehicle for adenoviral vectors and imaging probes for glioma gene therapy,a rat model of human glioma was made by implanting U251 cells *** were transfected with an adenovirus(AD5/carrying hNIS gene)and labeled with iron oxide and inoculated them directly into the tumor 14 d following implantation of U251 *** resonance imaging(mRI)was used to in vivo track the migration of EPCs in the *** expression of gene products was determined by in vivo Tc-99m single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT).The findings were validated with immunohistochemistry(IHC).RESULTS:EPCs were successfully transfected with the adenoviral vectors carrying hNIS which was proved by significantly(Pm in transfected *** of EPCs following transfection and iron labeling was not *** vivo imaging showed the presence of iron positive cells and the expression of transgene(hNIS)product on mRI and SPECT,respectively,all over the tumors following administration of transfected and iron labeled EPCs in the *** confirmed the distribution of EPC around the tumor away from the injection site and also showed transgene expression in the *** results indicated the EPCs’ability to deliver adenoviral vectors into the glioma upon intratumor ***:EPCs can be used as vehicle to deliver adenoviral vector to glioma and also act as imaging probe at the same time.

This paper deals with the study of multi-server queueing model in a fuzzy environment with imposition of reneging of customers. Entry of the customers in the system is assumed to be Poisson process and exponential service time distribution under first-come-first-served basis. Specific of this investigation is to derive the various fuzzy performance measures such as fuzzy queue length, fuzzy waiting time in queue, fuzzy response time and fuzzy optimal number of servers in explicit form for the finite capacity multi-server queueing system by using recursive method. For the validity of the model we have obtained the numerical illustrations in tabular form which shows that fuzzy-queue can be more realistic than crisp queue.

Bentonite is well known for its suitability as molding material in pottery and utensils, drilling mud to support the vertical sides of bore holes. Despite several favorable properties of bentonite for the above applications, such deposits exhibit large volume changes upon wetting and drying due presence of montmorillonite clay mineral with expandable lattice structure. In view of huge cyclic volumetric changes, these deposits are discouraged for construction activity. However, when it is inevitable to construct structures or run a high way, a canal or a pipe line in their deposits, suitable remedial techniques to combat the damages caused by them are to be adopted. In the present study an attempt has been made to study the influence of CaCl2 and Na2SiO3 on Atterberg limits, swell, strength and consolidation properties of bentonite and the effect of individual and combined influence of chemical additives on the above properties of Bentonite is investigated.

Study of Surface Instability of Kelvin-Helmholtz Type in a Fluid Layer Bounded above by a Porous Layer and below by a Rigid Surface

The surface instability of Kelvin-Helmholtz type bounded above by a porous layer and below by a rigid surface is investigated using linear stability analysis. Here we adopt the theory based on electrohydrodynamic as well as Stokes and lubrication approximations. We replace the effect of boundary layer with Beavers and Joseph slip condition. Here we have studied the combined effect of electric and magnetic fields on Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (KHI) in a fluid layer bounded above by a porous layer and below by a rigid surface. The dispersion relation is obtained using suitable boundary and surface conditions and results are depicted graphically. Also the ratio Gm is numerically computed for different values of We and m given in the Table 1. From this it is clear that the combined effect of electric and magnetic fields with porous layer are more effective than the effect of compressibility in reducing the growth rate of RTI. Also, these results shows that with a proper choice of magnetic field it is possible to control the growth rate of Electrohydrody-namic KHI (EKHI) and hence can be restored the symmetry of IFE target.

Reverse latissimus dorsi muscle flap for complex back defects: our experience

Aim: The aim was to study the effectiveness of the reverse latissimus dorsi muscle flap in reconstruction of complex defects of the back. methods: This is a retrospective study of patients who underwent reverse latissimus dorsi flap for reconstruction of the back, in a tertiary care hospital. The patient demographics, etiology, surgery indications and complications were studied. Results: The study had five patients between 2012 and 2016 who underwent reverse latissimus dorsi flap for reconstruction. The flaps survived in all the patients. Two patients had complications, unrelated to the latissimus dorsi muscle flap. Conclusion: The vascularity of the flap is reliable can be used to obliterate the dead space, can be used to control the infection, in complex cases of the back.

Subcurative radiation significantly increases cell proliferation, invasion, and migration of primary glioblastoma multiforme in vivo

Tumor cell proliferation, infiltration, migration, and neovascularization are known causes of treatment resistance in glioblastoma multiforme(GBm). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of radiation on the growth characteristics of primary human GBm developed in a nude rat. Primary GBm cells grown from explanted GBm tissues were implanted orthotopically in nude rats. Tumor growth was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging on day 77(baseline) after implantation. The rats underwent irradiation to a dose of 50 Gy delivered subcuratively on day 84 postimplantation(n = 8), or underwent no radiation(n = 8). Brain tissues were obtained on day 112(nonirradiated) or day 133(irradiated). Immunohistochemistry was performed to determine tumor cell proliferation(Ki-67) and to assess the expression of infiltration marker(matrix metalloproteinase-2, mmP-2) and cell migration marker(CD44). Tumor neovascularization was assessed by microvessel density using von-Willebrand factor(vWF) staining. magnetic resonance imaging showed well-developed, infiltrative tumors in 11 weeks postimplantation. The proportion of Ki-67-positive cells in tumors undergoing radiation was(71 ± 15)% compared with(25 ± 12)% in the nonirradiated group(P = 0.02). The number of mmP-2-positive areas and proportion of CD44-positive cells were also high in tumors receiving radiation, indicating great invasion and infiltration. microvessel density analysis did not show a significant difference between nonirradiated and irradiated tumors. Taken together, we found that subcurative radiation significantly increased proliferation, invasion, and migration of primary GBm. Our study provides insights into possible mechanisms of treatment resistance following radiation therapy for GBm.

2006年，印度在国家天然气水合物计划（NGHP）第一航次钻探中于mahanadi盆地东部大陆边缘发现了天然气水合物。对所获取的岩心进行红外成像分析证实了该区水合物主要以多层分散赋存。本文利用孔隙水化学分析、电阻率测井和声波速度测井来估算mahanadi盆地三个站位（NGHP-01—08，NGHP-01—09和NGHP-01—19）的天然气水合物饱和度。利用孔隙水氯离子浓度异常估计位于天然气水合物稳定带底界（BGHSZ）之上海底200m以下的水合物饱和度最高为10％，利用电阻率测井和声波速度测井建模这两种方法估算的水合物饱和度值之间具有可比性，估算的值均在10％～15％之间变化。本文还对研究区的地震反射数据进行了分析，以识别天然气水合物存在的证据。该地区的BSR深度变化范围在海底以下200~300m之间，这取决于mahanadi盆地的水深。基于区域地震资料发现天然气水合物存在与否与深水水道堤坝沉积复合体有关（尤其是在NGHP—01—19站位）。但是每个站位的取心或录井剖面都显示砂组分稀少，这就造成了水合物饱和度不会很高。从地震振幅时间切片来看，mahanadi盆地所有钻孔均分布在河道体系陡坡地段中，而砂体绕过该地段沉积，所以推断重要的砂体沉积很可能出现在滑坡较远的地段，而从地震数据中可以推断出该较远地段沉积体系为典型的扇形沉积，因此可以预想在该较远地区可能存在更多的天然气水合物。
