Glycomics comparison was carried out by screening melanoma serum biomarkers between C57 mice with and without B16 implanted. O-glycans were released from 10 μL sera by β-elimination, purified by Graphitized Carbon Cartridge Solid Phase Extraction (GCC-SPE) and analyzed by MALDI-QIT-TOF-MS. MS raw data were acquired and exported by Launchpad software. MATLAB was then applied for further data analysis. 10 Glycans were considered to have stable changes after B16 implantation and 5 of them were under structural analysis via MS/MS.

We briefly reviewed the experimental study on a-delayed proton decays near the proton drip line published by our group during the period of 1996―2004. namely the first observation of the a-delayed proton decays of 9 new nuclides in the rare-earth region and the new measurements of a-delayed proton decays of 5 nuclides in the mass ～90 region near the N = Z line with the aid of the “p-?” coincidence in combination with a He-jet tape transport system. In the meantime some important experimental technique details were supplemented. The experimental results, including the half -lives, spins, parities, deformations and production reaction cross sections for the 14.nuclei were summarized and compared with the current nuclear-model predictions, and then the following points were represented. (1) The experimental half-lives for 85Mo and 92Rh as well as the predicted “waiting point” nuclei 89Ru and 93Pd are 5―10 times longer than the theoretical predictions given by M?ller et al. using a macroscopic-microscopic model. It considerably influences the predictions of the abundances of the nuclides produced in the rp-process. (2) The current-model predictions are not consistent with the experimental assignments of the spins and parities for the proton drip-line nuclei 14.Ho and 128Pm. However, the nuclear potential energy surface (PES) calculated by using a Woods- Saxon-Strutinsky method reproduced the experimental results. (3) The Alice code overestimated the production reaction cross sections of the studied 9 rare-earth nuclei by one order of magnitude or two, while HIVAP code overestimated them by one order of magnitude approximately.

This paper reports the study of ancient potteries unearthed from the Guangfulin site in shanghai. From the external features of these potteries, archeologists can classify them into two different cultural types: Liangzhu culture (local culture) and a new culture which might be derived elsewhere, but they can not recognize whether they were produced in the same place. Proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) and instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) were used to measure the chemical compositions of the samples and the results were analyzed using multivariate statistics. We found that the two methods can complement each other and their database can be mutually referenced in the study of ancient potteries. Experimental results show that the compositions of the potteries from the two cultural types are different, which means that the materials for ancient potteries of new culture originate from elsewhere. This supports the archaeologists’ speculation that a group of ancient people migrated to shanghai from some other places 4.00 years ago.

VMIB (virtual multi-dimensional internal bonds) is a multiscale mechanical model developed from the VIB (virtual internal bond) theory. In VIB theory,the solid mate-rial is considered to consist of random-distributed material particles in microscale. These particles are connected with normal bonds. The macro constitutive relation is derived from the cohesive law between particles. However,in VMIB,the micro particles are connected with both normal and shear bonds. The macro constitutive relation is derived in terms of bond stiffness coefficients. It has been theoretically certified that there exists a corresponding relationship between the two bond stiffness coefficients and the two macro material constants,i.e. the Young’s modulus and Poisson ratio. This corresponding relationship suggests that it should be necessary and sufficient to simultaneously account for the normal and shear interactions between particles. Due to the fact that the fracture criterion is directly incorporated into the constitutive relation,both VIB and VMIB present many advantages in simulating fractures of materials. In the damage model of rock mass,a damage tensor is usually defined to describe the distribution of cracks. The damage value in one direction determines the relative stiffness of rock mass in this direction. In VMIB solid,the relative distribution density of micro bonds in one direction determines the relative macro stiffness of the material in this direction. The effects of the damage value and the relative distribution density of bonds are consistent. To simulate the failure behavior of rock mass with VMIB,the presented paper sets up a quantitative relationship between the damage tensor and the rela-tive distribution density of bonds. Comparison of the theoretical and the experi-mental results shows that VMIB model can represent the effect of distributed cracks on rock mass with this relationship. The presented work provides a founda-tion for further simulating fracture behavior

This paper deals with analytic and numerical dissipativity and exponential stability of singularly perturbed delay differential equations with any bounded state-independent lag. Sufficient conditions will be presented to ensure that any solution of the singularly perturbed delay differential equations (DDEs) with a bounded lag is dissipative and exponentially stable uniformly for sufficiently small ε > 0. We will study the numerical solution defined by the linear θ-method and one-leg method and show that they are dissipative and exponentially stable uniformly for sufficiently small ε > 0 if and only if θ = 1.

Based on the work of paper [1], we propose a modified Levenberg-Marquardt algoithm for solving singular system of nonlinear equations F(x) = 0, where F(x) : Rn - Rn is continuously differentiable and F'(x) is Lipschitz continuous. The algorithm is equivalent to a trust region algorithm in some sense, and the global convergence result is given. The sequence generated by the algorithm converges to the solution quadratically, if ||F(x)||2 provides a local error bound for the system of nonlinear equations. Numerical results show that the algorithm performs well.

AIM: To study the inhibitory effect of general gambogic acids (GGA) on transplantation tumor SMMC-7721 in experimental animal model and SMMC-7721 cells in vitro. METHODS: Anti-tumor activity of GGA in the experi- mental transplantation tumor SMMC-7721 was evaluated by relative tumor growth ratio. Cell morphology was observed with inverted microscope and electron microscope. Cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay and the telomerase activity was determined by PCR. RESULTS: In vivo study indicated that GGA (2, 4. and 8 mg/kg, iv, 3 times per week for 3 weeks) displayed an inhibitory effect on the growth of transplantation tumor SMMC- 7721 in nude mice compared with the normal saline group (P<0.01). At the concentrations of 0.625-5.0 mg/L, GGA remarkably inhibited the proliferation of SMMC-7721 cells in vitro. GGA 2 mg/L dramatically changed morphology of SMMC-7721 cells and inhibited the telomerase activity in SMMC-7721 cells. CONCLUSION: GGA had inhibitory effect on the growth of SMMC-7721, which might be related to its inhibition of telomerase activity.

We generalize the algebraic method presented by Fan [***.A:***.36 (2003) 7009)] to uniformlyconstruct a series of soliton-like solutions and double-llke periodic solutions for nonlinear partial differential equations(NPDE),As an application of the method,we choose a (2+1)-dimensional asymmetric Nizhnik-Novikov-Vesselov equa-tion and successfully construct new and more general solutions including a series of nontraveling wave and coefficientfunctions’ soliton-like solutions,double-like periodic and trigonometric-like function solutions.
