A complex seepage flow field with unknown free surface was formed in the shanghai Laogang Municipal Solid Waste （MSW） Landfill by the perimeter cut-off wall around the landfill site and the Prefabricated Vertical Drains （PVD） in the foundation of landfill. First, the equivalent vertical permeability was presented based on the drainage mechanism of PVD and the related calculation method was studied to macroscopically reflect the impact of PVD on the seepage flow status of the landfill foundation. With the influence of the cut-off wall and the PVD on the infiltration of groundwater, the total inflow was classified into two parts： the lateral inflow through the cut-off wall outside the landfill, and the upward infiltration through the PVD from the foundation of the landfill. Seepage analysis was conducted using the finite element method according to the actual scenario of Laogang Landfill, and the lateral infiltration and the upward infiltration were calculated, respectively. The results show that the total inflow into the landfill area was mostly supplied by the upward infiltration through the PVD and the perimeter cut-off wall was significantly effective to depressurize the seepage pressure and to reduce the flow rate.

Coastal erosion is currently a major problem along the southern coast of Chongming Island, shanghai. To enhance the erosion protection ability of coastal shelterbelts, two woody tree species, Taxodium ascendens and Salix babylonica, were planted separately into Phragmites australis ＋ Scirpus mariqueter communities in 2006. Two years later, we investigated whether either of these experiments reduced erosion and increased stability in the native herbaceous plant community. We also examined soil stability and root length density under T. aseendens added, S. babylonica added and native herbaceous vegetation conditions along an intertidal gradient from the soil surface to a depth of 40 cm in each experiment, thus to determine the capacity of T. ascendens and S. babylonica to contribute to shoreline stabilization. Topsoil under the native vegetation had greater stability at the middle and higher intertidal zones because its soil stability index and root length density were significantly higher than in the T. ascendens or S. babylonica planted communities. The effect of T. ascendens on soil stability was not generally better than that of the native vegetation. Only at the 20-30 cm soil depth of the middle intertidal zone and in the 10-20 cm layer of the higher intertidal zone the soil stability index and root length densities under the T. ascendens added condition were significantly higher （P 〈 0.05） than those of the native vegetation. The S. babylonica planted soil had greater stability in the deeper soil layer than the soil under either the native vegetation or the T. ascendens added condition, and its soil stability index and root length density were significant higher （P 〈 0.05） than those of other vegetation conditions at the 30 40 cm soil depth for the lower intertidal zone and at the 20-40 cm layer for middle and higher intertidal zones.

The SVMs for regression is used to forecast shanghai stock composite index (SSCI). Implementing structural risk minimization principle, SVMs can overcome the over-fitting problem. The regression uses ε-insensitive loss function. The training of SVMs leads to a quadratic programming problem and it has a global unique solution. The experiment uses BP neural networks as benchmark for comparison. The results demonstrate that the prediction figure of SSCI can help to find timing for buy or sell, the forecasting variation of SVMs is smaller than that of BP, and the direction forecasting of SVMs is more accurate than that of BP.

Based on the similarity theory,a scale effect model of the spraying water cooling system of shanghai expo Theme Pavilion's roof was set *** to the typical weather conditions in shanghai city,different models were analyzed on solar radiation,and different heat transfer amount was *** the following conclusions could be made:At the sunny day of summer in shanghai,the temperature of inner roof with sprinkling system descended about 3 ℃,and the air conditioning load of the whole Theme Pavilion descend more than 320 kW.

A monotone compact implicit finite difference scheme with fourth-order accuracy in space and second-order in time is proposed for solving nonlinear reaction-diffusion equations. An accelerated monotone iterative method for the resulting discrete problem is presented. The sequence of iteration converges monotonically to the unique solution of the discrete problem, and the convergence rate is either quadratic or nearly quadratic, depending on the property of the nonlinear reaction. The numerical results illustrate the high accuracy of the proposed scheme and the rapid convergence rate *** iteration.

This paper reports the study of ancient potteries unearthed from the Guangfulin site in shanghai. From the external features of these potteries, archeologists can classify them into two different cultural types: Liangzhu culture (local culture) and a new culture which might be derived elsewhere, but they can not recognize whether they were produced in the same place. Proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) and instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) were used to measure the chemical compositions of the samples and the results were analyzed using multivariate statistics. We found that the two methods can complement each other and their database can be mutually referenced in the study of ancient potteries. Experimental results show that the compositions of the potteries from the two cultural types are different, which means that the materials for ancient potteries of new culture originate from elsewhere. This supports the archaeologists’ speculation that a group of ancient people migrated to shanghai from some other places 4000 years ago.

In this paper, we study fully discrete spectral method and long time behavior of solution of generalized Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation with periodic initial condition. We prove that the large time error estimation for fully discrete solution of spectral method. We prove the existence of approximate attractors AN, ANk respectively and d(AN, A) → 0, d(ANk, A) → 0.
