Colometer:A real-time quality feedback system for screening colonoscopy

AIm:To investigate the performance of a new software-based colonoscopy quality assessment ***:The software-based system employs a novel image processing algorithm which detects the levels of image clarity,withdrawal velocity,and level of the bowel preparation in a real-time fashion from live video *** levels of image blurriness and the withdrawal velocity below which the visualization could be considered adequate have initially been determined arbitrarily by review of sample colonoscopy videos by two experienced ***,an overall colonoscopy quality rating was computed based on the percentage of the withdrawal time with adequate visualization(scored 1-5;1,when the percentage was 1%-20%;2,when the percentage was 21%-40%,etc.).In order to test the proposed velocity and blurriness thresholds,screening colonoscopy withdrawal videos from a specialized ambulatory colon cancer screening center were collected,automatically processed and *** ratings on the withdrawal were compared to the insertion in the same ***,3 experienced endoscopists reviewed the collected videos in a blinded fashion and rated the overall quality of each withdrawal(scored 1-5;1,poor;3,average;5,excellent) based on 3 major aspects:image quality,colon preparation,and withdrawal *** automated quality ratings were compared to the averaged endoscopist quality ratings using Spearman correlation ***:Fourteen screening colonoscopies were *** polyps were detected in 4/14(29%) of the collected colonoscopy video *** a proof of concept,the Colometer software rated colonoscope withdrawal as having better visualization than the insertion in the 10 videos which did not have any polyps(average percent time with adequate visualization:79% ± 5% for withdrawal and 50% ± 14% for insertion,P mes during which no polyps were removed ranged from 4-12 *** median quality rating from the automa

Background:The mobilization and redistribution of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)specific T-cells and neutralizing antibodies(nAbs)during exercise is purported to increase immune surveillance and protect against severe coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).We sought to determine if COVID-19 vaccination would elicit exercise-responsive SARS-CoV-2 T-cells and transiently alter nAb ***:Eighteen healthy participants completed a 20-min bout of graded cycling exercise before and/or after receiving a COVID-19 *** major leukocyte subtypes were enumerated before,during,and after exercise by flow cytometry,and immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 were determined using whole blood peptide stimulation assays,T-cell receptor(TCR)-βsequencing,and SARS-CoV-2 nAb ***:COVID-19 vaccination had no effect on the mobilization or egress of major leukocyte subsets in response to intensity-controlled graded ***,non-infected participants had a significantly reduced mobilization of CD4+and CD8+naive T-cells,as well as CD4+central memory T-cells,after vaccination(synthetic immunity group);this was not seen after vaccination in those with prior SARS-CoV-2 infection(hybrid immunity group).Acute exercise after vaccination robustly mobilized SARS-CoV-2 specific T-cells to blood in an intensity-dependent *** groups mobilized T-cells that reacted to spike protein;however,only the hybrid immunity group mobilized T-cells that reacted to membrane and nucleocapsid *** increased significantly during exercise only in the hybrid immunity ***:These data indicate that acute exercise mobilizes SARS-CoV-2 specific T-cells that recognize spike protein and increases the redistribution of nAbs in individuals with hybrid immunity.

An ultraviolet to visible scheme to estimate chromophoric dissolved organic matter absorption in a Case-2 water from remote sensing reflectance

In a typical Case-2 coastal water environment(here,the Pearl River Estuary(PRE),China),chromophoric dissolved organic matter(CDOm)and suspended particulates dominate the water optical properties,and CDOm fluorescence contributes considerably to surface water *** this paper,an ultraviolet(UV)to visible scheme to retrieve CDOm absorption(ag)is developed based on a set of in situ ***,the CDOm UV absorption and spectral slope(Sg)are derived directly from the visible remote sensing reflectance;then the Sg is extrapolated to obtain the spectrum from UV to visible spectral *** algorithm performs well,with an overall mean absolute percent difference(mAPD)of^30%,~5%and^6%for the estimation of ag in 250–450 nm,Sg over 250–400 nm,and 250–700 nm,*** effectiveness and stability of the algorithm is further demonstrated in capturing the distribution pattern of CDOm absorption in the PRE from satellite ocean color imagery with multiple spatial and spectral resolution,namely:the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite(VIIRS)(750 m/multispectral),the Ocean and Land Color Instrument(OLCI)(300 m/multispectral),the Hyperspectral Imager for the Coastal Ocean(HICO)(100 m/Hyperspectral),and the Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager(OLI)(30 m/multispectral).The UV to visible scheme can benefit the CDOm absorption estimation in two aspects:1)it is free from the disturbance of suspended matter;2)it avoids uncertainties caused by the low signalto-noise ratio(SNR)of ag measurements in the visible *** algorithm is effective in revealing multiple scales of variation of CDOm absorption from ocean color observations.

Fast extended depth of focus meta-optics for varifocal functionality

Extended depth of focus(EDOF)optics can enable lower complexity optical imaging systems when compared to active focusing *** existing EDOF optics,however,it is difficult to achieve high resolution and high collection efficiency *** subwavelength spacing of scatterers in a meta-optic enables the engineering of very steep phase gradients;thus,meta-optics can achieve both a large physical aperture and a high numerical ***,we demonstrate a fast(f/1.75)EDOF meta-optic operating at visible wavelengths,with an aperture of 2 mm and focal range from 3.5 mm to 14.5 mm(286 diopters to 69 diopters),which is a 250×elongation of the depth of focus relative to a standard ***-independent performance is shown by imaging at a range of finite conjugates,with a minimum spatial resolution of∼9.84μm(50.8 cycles/mm).We also demonstrate operation of a directly integrated EDOF meta-optic camera module to evaluate imaging at multiple object distances,a functionality which would otherwise require a varifocal lens.
